Free-Form Friday

Re: Free-Form Friday

  • Today totally blows.

I am excited for Book Club tomorrow.  I need a Nestie pick me up!

Next week we are going to a new restaurant for date night via Restaurant Week.  I am looking forward to it.  Anyone else have Restaurant Week reservations?

Oh my gosh YES. I've deleted a few people in the last 24 hours, actually.  A couple Knotties/Nesties too.   *gasp*

I tried really hard to stick to the "if you can't say anything nice" rule....but when I felt I could no longer control myself I decided it was better to delete.

Damn it Tiffany - Just because I didn't buy your groupon for the paper doesn't mean we can't be friends anymore. Crying

Bahaha... of course you were the first to go.   You know couponers are #1 on my hit list....

I had to go check and make sure that I was safe.  I was worried because I don't buy the paper either! I only read online.  I'm glad to make the cut.  :)

But if you get the paper, now you can clip coupons! Win/win!

LOL, I don't get the paper... I was just sharing the deal.

And it was an awesome deal. It made me sad that I already do get the paper.

Last week I got overpaid by a lot and no one noticed. I let someone know and this week my check is tiny. Even though it was the same amount of money over two weeks, the check this week is still kind of sad.

I made the cut even though I made an RP status yesterday.

    Tiffany,

BTW, I think your suggestion on how to spend the day will win.  I went and got my computer, a bottle of water and a snack.  I will stay lazy until noon or so and then get up for the epicness.

  • I'm covering for my boss while he's out. I'm finding this way more fun than I thought it would be. I'll be kind of sad when he comes back.

Oh, DH and I went to Si Tapas last night in Uptown for date night.  It was pretty good food.  We got there a little after 6pm, and they have happy hour from 4-7.  We got a pitcher of Sangria for $12 which was delicious and gave me a buzz from sharing (ie - good price for plenty of alcohol for 2).  They have a smaller menu of HH tapas for $3.  Good selection, and tasted pretty good. Also, a great atmosphere. I recommend trying them out.

We also have restaurant week reservations.  We are going to Al Biernats and Eddie V's.  I was hoping for Abacus and Craft, but they were sold out within hours of the opening of reservations.  Oh well.  I'm excited about the other two!

  • I finally ordered my Canvas on Demand.  Yay that that is out of the way.

I had a really bad night last night and got about 4 hours of crappy sleep and today was already going to be a long day as it was but I'm so very glad it's Friday.  I got zero reading done :(  Hopefully tonight I won't have a killer headache that sidelines me.

I flame myself for my eating habits the last 2 days because of my lack of vegetables.  Besides a super mini GM, I haven't had any when I normally get a fair share everyday.

Political statuses of any kind don't bother me.. even if I don't agree.  As long as they are educated and/or justified.

This reminds me of my Dad. He always said, "If you have the information/knowledge to back-up your opinion, then I respect it. Even if I don't agree."

He would also make us listen to talk radio and discuss the topics. We always had differing opinions, so it was good practice to learn how to dialogue with someone you very much disagree with.

He also paid me $20 to read Rush Limbaugh's book - so I could "get all points of view" LOL.

    Dear Ol' Dad.

I have several former students who make multiple political statuses every day.  I'm actually thinking about blocking them because it's annoying.

Same. I don't mind when someone knows what they're talking about. But when you can tell they're just parroting sound-bytes from an extreme source, with NO idea what the actual issue is... I can't handle that. I worked in politics for too long, I guess.

  • This is a little long, but it's the coolest thing ever so I thought you guys would appreciate it.

One of my dearest friends is married to a man who was married before. He had two children with his high school sweetheart, and when they divorced, it was a very amicable situation. My friend was worried that it would change once they got married, but it hasn't... The ex-wife is a friend. They all go on big family vacations together with their new spouses and younger children. My friend is about to start her first year of teaching, at a school where her husband's ex-wife is on staff and gave her a recommendation. This morning, when she walked into her classroom, there was a huge deal of flowers there encouraging her that she's going to do a great job... from her husband's ex-wife.

I'm so inspired by these people. They're mature adults who love each other, love their children, and don't dwell on the past. For those of who that I know are dealing with ex drama or something of the sort, I hope this gives you hope... it can be better!

My ex-husband is my friend.  I consider him a blessing in my life.  He fixed our AC last week for free when it broke, so Ben fixed his computer.  It makes life so much easier -- I wish it was possible for more people.  It's worth the effort.

And if I do say so myself, I think it says alot about the two men I've chosen to marry.  :)

It absolutely does, Stephie! And it's a wonderful example for your daughter, I'm sure.

This is awesome! My dad and his ex-wife remained very close after the divorce and she even moved into our rental house next door. It was really nice growing up because I had this huge extended family with brothers and sisters I wouldnt otherwise hace and an additional adult to watch out for me when needed. It stayed that way until we moved when I was 10. Then my dad just turned into a d-bag but thats a whole other story.
  • Is anyone interested/able to attend Meghan's wedding with me at The Piazza tomorrow night?

I've been dying to go to a wedding there. What time does it start? I think I'd get a hard time from Brad since I'll be doing book club and The Help that morning.

This type of story gives me hope.  DH's ex doesn't hate me and we can be in the same room but I know she isn't my #1 fan.  She only speaks to me when she has too and it's only enough to get what she needs said said.  I know she isn't happy about the new baby because of some of the stuff SD has said.  I try and speak with her but she just ignores me or gives me 1 word answers.  I don't mind it but I was hoping for more like my parents I guess.

My dad and step mom are taking their grandkids to the circus tomorrow.  Well my step brother's family ended up not being able to go and DH and I are going to see his family so my dad called up my mom and asked if she and my step sister, her DH, and their 2 kids wanted to go.  My dad also mows my mom's lawn and picks my mom up for church every Sunday.  My step mom calls my mom her wife-in-law. They have always gotten along but since my step dad passed away they both have really stepped up and helped us make sure my mom is doing ok.

    TGIF!!!

We went to the new In-N-Out in Ft. Worth last night.  It wasn't near as busy as the one off 75 was.  It was tasty!

What did you get? I always get a double double protein style with onions (so 2 patties, 2 cheese slices, no bread but wrapped in lettuce, with onions)

Do people use italics for anything specific that I can't remember right now? Could we just use italics for sarcasm?

Seriously, when is someone going to introduce this?  As digital as this world is now, I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet... but I think it could really cut down on miscommunications if we had it.

  • ack...stupid nest messed up my post. I meant to say...Do people use italics for anything specific that I can't remember? Could we just use italics for sarcasm?

Random question: Have any of you used a moving schedule when you moved? I'm not sure what order I should pack up our apartment. I plan on living out of a suitcase our last week here and eating out  the last 3 days we are in town so I don't have to do dishes & have time to scrub/polish our SS cookware.

I had a discount at The container store so I got some dish & glass dividers/foam protectors & boxes. Scouring CL for free bubble wrap (I live in a freaking huge city & don't see much free packing materials posted WTF)...
