One pack of diapers for a good cause?
Last year some very dear friends of mine had an amazing idea that would fulfill a need in the community that hadn't been completely served. Families in transition are offered assistance for many things; housing, clothing, food, but not diapers.
Out of this need Diaper Houston was born. The goal was to offer assistance of diapers to Depelchin's Families in Transition for 3-4 months. The first event, Drinks, Desserts, & Diapers, was held last fall and collected over 7,000 diapers. which filled the need for the entire year.
This year the need is greater and our goals have grown. Two agencies will benefit from the diaper drive- DePelchin (Transitional Living Services) and Search Homeless Services' (House of Tiny Treasures). The goal is to collect 15,000 diapers enough to cover the families of both agencies for an entire year.
So what does all this mean? Well, it's a party to celebrate the giving spirit of the Houston community.
The second annual, Drinks, Desserts, and Diapers event will take place on Sunday September 18th from 2-4 at Caroline Collective; 4820 Caroline, 77004 in the Museum district.
Come by drop off some diapers and enjoy drinks, desserts and good company (a few special guest have been confirmed.) Have open package that your little one has outgrown? We'll take those too.

There is so much more to say but I'm afraid this is too long already. If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them. Childhood poverty is a cause near and dear to my heart. We won't be able to resolve the main issues with this drive, but I truly believe that we can make life a bit easier for those trying to make a better life for themselves and their children.

We will take any diapers/ pull-ups/ swim diapers.
I know the last one sounds weird but these families are placed in apartments under their name so they can begin to rebuild their credit status. Many of them (the apartments) have pools, but the children need to be in swim diapers in order to use them.
For those of you who have already posted this for your Facebook/ Twitter friends I can't thank you enough. If everyone we know gave just one pack or a partial pack I think we'd exceed our goals. Please feel free to give your friends my contact info if they have questions.

Is there any particular size they need the most?
from the information we received this year the smaller sizes (NB to 3) are in greatest need but also the ones we'll get the most of so I'm appealing to the older kids too. Whatever size you have or would like to pick up is perfect. Every last one will be distributed.
I think we should make this a Nestie GTG. I'm going to adjust my schedule so I can be sure to make it.

Yes we are accepting wipes as well.
Kids can come to the event, however there will be open alcoholic beverages present. so keep that in mind.

I don't know if we can make it t that event, but we do have diapers we'll never use. Since we're in cloth, we NEVER go through a whole package. Assuming open packages are fine....
