I think we met some of your husband's students while hiking on Friday...there were 2 boys from a school in Lodi who made it up to the cables before the rest of their group...

I just wanted to let you/your DH know that they were really nice kids and were very well behaved--so often we (as in those who do not work with kids) see teens as difficult/immature, but these boys were a pleasure to speak with and I was very impressed.  They even encouraged some others from our group as we were all making it up!

Anyways, I know teachers don't get to hear it often enough, so I just wanted to tell you to tell him good work :)

ps: the hike was awesome!  scary, but awesome!

Re: **WineCountryWife**

  • That is so great to hear!! I know exactly who you talked with. They are all a great group of kids, and yesterday as we recapped with them (I made it up there yesterday for the day with the group to hike up Sentinel Dome with the class to see the trail they hiked from 'above') the hike they all felt like such failures, and weak, and immature - and how could anyone look up to them at the school and be "Seniors." I can't wait to pass on what you said to my husband and the other teachers - they will love to hear it!

I'm glad you had such a great hike!! I think I've been convinced to do it with them when my girls are old enough to do it with me - so then at least  I have a few more years to get used to the idea! lol
  • My Dh says that he was up there with those two students, so he is sure he saw you as well - he was also hoping to have a picture so he could see if he remembers seeing your group (which he's sure he would). Wanted to let you know too that he was so happy to hear your good report that he's going to use it as a springboard for his chapel talk he's giving today. Smile
  • Teachers deserve all the positive feedback they can get.  They have a thankless, and yet vitally important job.

I'll post a pic of DH and I tonight when I get home from work Big Smile

  • As promised, DH and I at the top of the subdome/before the cables.

We hiked a bit with another couple--she was wearing a yellow button up shirt and he was wearing a blue button up.  She had a quasi-panic attack on the subdome, but calmed down in time for the cables.

hope the chapel talk went well!
