nyc restaurant recommendations
anyone have any recommendations for something nice but not too overpriced?
mostly looking from union square area up to central park. spanish, seafood, portugeuse, fusion, tasting menu, etc -- maybe something unique? or just good food, decent price, nice place for just me & hubby on a friday night. thanks!

I have no idea what area of NYC this was in so if it's too far then I apologize! I don't normally go into the city that often. But Ed and I went to Basta Pasta last year when we went to see a show. It is Japanese-Italian fusion...definitely different but it was amazing!!!!!

I was going to recommend basta pasta too! Thats in the neighborhood where I work and I love it!
Momoya is also in that area and is good sushi.
Il Bastardo is there and good Rusic Italian (as apposed to traditional chicken parms and things like that)
Sala or Boqueria... I'm obsessed with tapas. They are both in the Flatiron District. Have fun wherever you go.

I highly rec. Crema restaurant. Its Mexican/French fusion, and the chef is famous and has worked on Kitchen nightmares helping other restaurants improve. Best guacamole ever!
