Hello, I have been lurking here for a bit, but thought I would introduce myself before posting responses to other threads.
My husband and I are from the states (I'm from California and he's from Massachusetts) and recently moved to Singapore. We were in the middle of planning our wedding in Iceland when he got offered the transfer, but still jumped at the opportunity. We moved in May and got married in July.
I'm loving Singapore so far, great food, fun shopping and lots of close travel. But it is nice to have a place to chat with others going through similar experiences or can at least sympathize. I work from home for my CA company, so it's a lot of time by myself in front of the computer!
Looking forward to "meeting" you all here.
Re: Hi and intro!

I used to know some former Singapore ex-pats when I lived in Beijing, and they had lots of good things to say! Glad you're having a good time so far!

I am an American living in Israel with my half-Israeli hubby...but only for 3 more weeks, then it is back to the States for us. We have more international plans ahead, so I'm sticking around. Plus I couldn't leave this board even if I wanted to.
Looking forward to getting to know you!
My Israel Blog!
Hi,
I just introduced myself this past week as well. My and my DH and DD live in the states at the moment but have spent a large amount of our childhood and university years in Israel.
We plan to move back there b"h in a few years.
Congrats on your wedding and enjoy your adventure.
Welcome to the board! DH and I are Americans living in the Netherlands for DH's job. I work from home as well (same company as DH), so I'm in front of the computer all the time!
Look forward to hearing more about living in Singapore!
Thanks for being so welcoming! To answer a few questions:
I'm originally from Palo Alto which is in the San Francisco bay area. My husband is originally from a town just outside of Boston. We both went to school together in Boston (where we met), so I definitely have some nostalgia for Boston!
How the wedding came to be in Iceland, well we had liked the idea of a destination wedding because you get more than just one evening with all of your friends and family. Our family is also sort of scattered, mine in CA and Sweden, his in Canada and Boston, so we figured if we couldn't make it convenient for everyone, make it inconvenient for everyone! We had also fallen in love with Iceland a few years back when he was living in London and I was in Boston and met up for a few days "in between the two" in Iceland. The 24 hrs of daylight led to a crazy fun party with lots of debauchery, and awesome pics. I highly recommend Iceland if you are into out of this world scenery and very desolate areas, but I know it's not for everyone.
So far I do like Singapore a lot, but definitely am not used to the hot and humid weather! Makes me jealous of all of you in Australia with winter right now!
I have been travelling and MIA for the past three weeks...
I'm American (NJ) with an American (CA) H who recently moved from Indiana to India for H's work. I have been working remotely from India for my Indiana based company, I totally understand about that 'a lot of time by myself in front of the computer'.

Thank you so much for the offer Nanner, and I am sure I will take you up on it! I definitely have found that not having amazon, 24 hr grocery stores, and a car have made me rethink my usual routine. I've found that patience and flexibility have been key so far. Although I can't say I haven't had a couple mini-meltdowns about silly things like walking etiquette and pretzels
What part of town are you in? We live right by the Tiong Bahru MRT stop, which has been really convenient so far.
Welcome to the board!
I'm an American living in Scotland with my Scottish DH and our dual citizen son.
