Anyone do bookkeeping - without formal training?
DH is considering having me take over the bookkeeping / budgeting for his business. It's a small family business (5 employees) and I would be working from home. My background is in counseling but I've been a SAHM since DS was born and would love to continue to stay home for a few more years. This would be out of my element but doesn't seem impossible. Does anyone do this without having accounting background? Thoughts?

No amount of education could convince Betty to be nice to possums
I own my own business and do my own bookkeeping - I'm the only employee, so it's not too complicated. It does get me stressed out at times because there is no one to double check my work and sometimes I make mistakes that end up costing me money, but on the whole it's not too bad. My mom (also a SAHM) did my step-dad's bookkeeping for his dental practice for over 15 years. I think it just takes someone who is organized and good with details. They make great software to help with everything - I have Quickbooks and I love it.
