Uh, MH is the same way. He watches Sports Center like twice a day.

Top Gear (BBC version, totally agree with 315bride), Castle, Combat Hospital, Top Shot, Justified, Modern Family, House Hunters (International as well), Pawn Stars, Burn Notice, Royal Pains, Wipeout, NCIS, Flashpoint.
We occasionally watch How I Met Your Mother reruns.
DH is usually in the room when I am watching my other shows too but he usually tunes them out.
House, Pawn Stars, Storage Wars, Survivor, Amazing Race and for some reason Glee.
Chopped, Chelsea Lately, The Biggest Loser, and Top Chef (et al.) I can usually convince him to hang out on the couch with his lap top.
But If I try to turn on Hoarders or My Strange Addiction he will leave the room! LOL.

he will sometimes watch how i met your mother and big brother.

We did watch Lost, when it was still on.
Now we watch Hawaii 5-0, Big Bang Theory, HIMYM, and Bully Beatdown on MTV. I think that's about it, DH doesn't like most tv shows.
ETA: Oh, we also watch the show Coal on Spike, and occasionally American Pickers and Pawn Stars.
