Re: Morning Sickness, how long did it last?

  • I was only nauseous for the first tri, never vomited not even once though, for both pregnancies.

Same here minus the both pregnancies part. It was the worst when I smelled anything citrus. Even walking past the orange tree in the yard got to me.

  • I also never threw up, but I felt nauseous pretty much all day until about 11-12 weeks.  My morning bus ride was the worst!!  Hope it gets better soon :)

  • lol Chelsea, I think of you all the time.  Actually, thinking of you during my first tri got me through it.  I just kept thinking "I could have it worse, it could be worse..." :)

It still sucked though, but by week 12 I was signigicantly better.  Went from feeling miserable 24-7 to just a few short waves a day until week 16.  Then I was in the clear!  Hang in there!

  • With the 1st pregnancy, I had m/s (but no vomiting) from week 7-10. With the last one, I had it until 5 months. I was in the clear from month 5-8, then it came back. And I was puking a lot!

  • I was very sick during both pregnancies. It started around 7 weeks and lasted until about 16 weeks. i will still get sick on occasion but I have zofran to help me out (if you don't have a script yet, you should ask your doctor for one!). I was throwing up quite a bit, but it did get better!
  • Until 20 weeks.  Vitamin B6 finally helped at that point.  I took it up until the end of my pregnancy.  Even after 20 weeks I had tons of food aversions.  I threw up every time I saw raw chicken and couldn't eat any meat.

  • First time, I had occasional nausea throughout my first tri, which quit on the day I began my second trimester (and was traded with extreme heartburn which I had the entire rest of my pregnancy). Second time, I had horrible, all-day, every day queasiness. It ended somewhere around the beginning of my 2nd trimester. But with both pregnancies, I never threw up.

  • I didn't get m/s until 9 weeks, but then it was bad.  Puking at work, gagging while brushing my teeth, all that great stuff.  Then I hit about 12/13 weeks and it was just gone.  But it is truly different for every person and every pregnancy.

This for me.  I was queasy for a few weeks, but made so to eat some crackers gnaw on some ginger regularly.  It was gone after a few weeks.  I am scared that it will be much worse if we try again.  I should mention that the pregnancy that I lost at 7 weeks was terrible for m/s.  And it was summer.  And I had no a/c in the car. And it was a 30 minute ride one way to work.  Blech.

  • Chelsea, I always think of you, too, and think "that poor girl. I could have it so much worse." You definitely win the m/s award!

I've been nauseous pretty much 24/7 (and even more so when I'm hungry) since about week 5 or 6 (never threw up though), but in the last few days it seems to be tapering off. I'll be 12 weeks tomorrow, and for the past few days it seems to be just occasional waves of nausea (of course, today is pretty regular waves - I may have jinxed myself). I'm hoping this is a sign that things are looking up.

Good luck! Hopefully you get some relief soon.

  • Thank you a ladies for sharing your experiences. I feel like the heightened smell triggers the vomitting for me. I wish I can hook myself up on some oxygen lol because I find myself holding my breath a lot, to the point I even requested not to have front desk shifts for a while because there are some guests who just shower in perfume and it makes me want to run to the nearest trash bin or restroom. I feel like if I can't smell I would be ok. I vomit atleast once a day and it's the worst feeling ever, I feel like my stomach is bring squeezed over and over. Today, I am salivating a lot finding myself spitting a lot. I am crossing my fingers that it'll only last for my first trimester. Right now, I'm sitting by our bedroom window trying to get fresh air because DH just cooked fish and the whole house stinks!

Awe, thanks. I am so in love with her.

I think I had the worst that I have ever heard of as well, lol. My mom wants me to have another and keeps telling me "Oh, I was so sick with my first and after that, I didn't have any problems"... She has NO IDEA how I felt or what I went through. Lila is our one and only :) I would love another, but I can't bare the thought of going through that again.

  • I was really sick throughout most of the first tri and now that I'm in third tri it has come back - yippee!
  • My workfriend said she didn't get sick very often, but when she did, it was so very violent that she would need to wash her face and leave immediately for the chiropractor to get her neck re-aligned.  She had some kind of "standing order" to let her jump in front of whoever was in the waiting room when she arrived, otherwise she would have had to go to the ER each time. She's not having a second kid.  Ever.
