Where were you?

Re: Where were you?

  • My alarm went off and Howard Stern was talking about it. I thought it was one of those War of the World type hoaxes until I turned on the tv. I was working at a theater in PA doing Calamity Jane and most of our performers were from NYC and had gone home over the weekend. After calling DH at work freaking out, I called the cast house to see who had stayed here and who had left and if the person who answered had heard from any of them. It was a nightmare. What really bothered us, was our theater then decided to hold the show that night on the thought that people needed an escape for a few hours... like the movies were during the World Wars and such. We did hold a candle light vigil prior and sang a couple of songs.

One of our lead performers actually was a doctor, who was doing the show for fun.( not sure how he could do 8-9 shows a week and still practice medicine) He did end up helping out where he could for the time he was there.

Certainly not a day I'll forget.

  • I was on my way to work (in Austin) when the first plane hit, I heard it on the radio and just thought it was a terrible accident  Then the 2nd plane hit as I was parking my car.  I sat with the engine running in the parking space for a few minutes, stunned.  Then I ran, like running for your life ran, up to my office to get in front of a television.  I sat there talking with my co-workers all morning until I went home and sat in front of the tv all night.  No one got any work done that day.
