Re: Say say say- Anything

  • Earlier this evening there were 2 fires 5 miles from our house.  Indifferent  The last report I heard said it had "only" burned 45 acres, but it wasn't out at that point.

Oh wow, how scary.  I hope it gets contained before it reaches you!  I just can't believe how out of control it's all gotten.

  • i feel really selfish admitting this, but i have not given 9/11 much thought because i'm dealing with a loss that is so much more personal to me.  i just want to ball up on the couch in my grandma's house and sleep and breathe in the way her house smells and feels.

I have almost successfully avoided all things 9/11 over the last few days.

Jax, I'm so sorry. I very much know that feeling. Big big hugs.

  • Random funny:

Yesterday as we were getting ready for church I told Tori to put on her leggings.  She randomly asks "Are they PAJAMA JEANS?"  Um, no they are not and how do you know pajama jeans even exist.

    The power of tv!

We were at Kohl's yesterday, and DS pointed to a stuffed animal and said "Clifford!"  I have no idea where he learned Clifford - we don't have anything at home.  So, they either read Clifford books at DC, or he saw a commerical or something.  Amazing they stuff that they pick up on!

  • I saw the Pajama Jeans at HEB last week.  Didn't buy them but I was curious enough to go up and feel the texture.

I don't ever post in here, but this is the only place I can think of to put it.  My BIL & SIL are having / have possibly had their first baby today.  And I found out she was in labor through freaking twitter.  TWITTER told me my nephew was on the way.

Thankfully BIL told his parents at least, even if he didn't tell Josh (it's Josh's brother and his wife that are having the baby.)

This was so just opposite of the way my siblings and I were raised, my sister was texting us on the way to the OR to have her son, that I just can't help but have my feelings hurt.  I just know that when Marion is having a baby, that if Eliza isn't one of the first people to know, I'll feel that I've failed them as a parent (which is probably flame worthy because I know not everyone isn't close to their sibling and that isn't a bad thing.)

Anyway, I just know I'm not going to be anywhere as near as close to this nephew as I am the rest of my nieces and nephews on my side and that makes me sad.

Im sorry Kat...  and I totally understand.  My SIL doesn't include us in ANYthing and I had so wanted a relationship with her.  I know it hurts my husband too but he tries to stay strong and act like it doesn't bother him.  I know it's not about ME but it still hurts.  So I get it.

You're a good aunt even if they don't see it.

    Jax... I'm sorry!  hugs

  • DH had the dreaded "man cold" last week, I think I now have it too.  Sad  I woke up this morning with my nose all stuffed up, and now my throat is killing me.

Exciting.  I'm guessing girl because everyone I know who has a boy and is now pregnant again is having a girl.

I've thought girl since the moment you said you were pregnant.  If I'm wrong it'll be the first time in a long time.

  • So, I just had to go look on an organization's web calendar to see what the exact topic is that I'm scheduled to lecture about to them next month.  ***hangs head***

It's a how-to research sort of topic, sort of hard to explain, but I'm apparently also supposed to demonstrate worldcat.org and jstor.  wahoo.  I bet your jealous.

Seriously though I probably need to go figure out how to use worldcat through the public portal, it looks totally different.  I access it internally from within a research library and uh... it's different.

This is going to be an awesome lecture y'all.   Indifferent

That sounds like my sister.  She's expecting her 3rd in March also.  She has a 7 year old girl and a 3 year old boy.  I think she finds out this Thursday.  I'm hoping she has another boy.

    Two words: Time Suck.

I hate that there's so much Christmas stuff showing up already... but at least it's pretty Christmas stuff.

  • Not that any of you would mention it on FB, but just in case, please don't share, because it isn't public knowledge yet, but...

I just found out that there is a distinct possibility that when we move back to Houston (most likely in 2013), DH will get on another project that will take us back to Singapore a year or so later.

    sigh

That's not an unhappy sigh.  It's just an "I don't want to move home, only to uproot my family again a year later" sigh. I'm not sure how to feel.

  • Most of you know I'm not a dog person.  But right now, I'm seriously annoyed with my neighbor and her dogs.  She got them about a month ago and leaves them outside overnight.  Every.Freaking.Night starting at about 3am they bark non-stop.  Yes, dogs bark.  But this is more like a yelp/yap, and it goes on until about 7am or so when I think she brings them inside.  DH and I haven't adjusted to sleeping through it and they are kept right beside our bedroom window, so needless to say we're both a little grumpy these days.

When that happened to us, we attempted to address it with our rear neighbor and then took it to the HOA.  There is, unfortunately, no noise law but apparently between 10pm and 7am they will still address it.

What I don't understand is..don't they hear it?!  If my dogs bark even 1 time, I am outside addressing it.  It's just so irresponsible, why get a dog if you are just going to leave it outside to bark incessantly.

This.  My dogs are inside dogs and if they get left in the living room instead of coming to bed with us or the kids (spoiled ass dogs), they bark at the hall door.  It is obnoxious and I wouldn't want to subject my neighbors to that.

Yeah...I thought about that as well.  The biggest problem is that I think she's out there about 4:30 feeding them.  She told DH she is an early riser, but 4:30 doesn't even begin to touch early.   They go NUTS then every day.  And it isn't like they are big dogs - I'm talking very small breed dogs.  So why can't you have them in a large two-story house overnight???  The person who lived there before had small dogs that would bark in the morning, but not for very long and we got used to it.  A month later, I'm still not getting used to this.
