I side eye anyone who says the don't/can't cook. Men and women.
Yeah, I'm a little offended that it comes across that you guys only think it's unacceptable for women. Guys have to be responsible for themselves as well. Though personally, I don't think it's a big deal if someone doesn't enjoy/excel at cooking because we all have different skills and interests, so long as they aren't expecting someone else to provide all of their meals. "Can't" cook = I choose to purchase my meals instead. If you want to be that wasteful, eh, it's your money.

For some reason, I only side eye women and not men. I think it is because a lot of women think it is "cool" to declare I CAN'T COOK as if it makes them an extra feministic type of person, if that makes any sense, when in reality, they look dumb.

So why doesn't a man look dumb for playing into the gender stereotypes as well?

I have truly never had a man say to me "I can't cook."

On the flip side, I hate people who say that everyone can have their pre-baby body back if they just work for it. I weigh less than I did before getting pregnant, but no amount of situps can repair the damaged skin that just hangs like an overstretched rubber band or pick my boobs back up to where they used to be.

    Good point. VERY good point.

  • I am impatiently waiting for the announcement of Jen Aniston's engagement - or - pregnancy!!!!

FFFC: We're moving offices today/this weekend, and all I can do is think of ways to get out of helping. Blah.

Fake a stomach virus. Keep running to the bathroom. Make noises like you might throw up.

    Yes

FFFC: I judge women who use "I had a baby" as an excuse to be overweight.

I'm the same way. I have friends who had babies around the same time as JJ was born who still say, "Well, I had a baby, so that's why I'm overweight." Um, at this point, our kids are already 3 or almost 3. That excuse doesn't fly anymore. I'm just 10 pounds over my goal weight because I'm lazy, not because I had a baby almost three years ago.

On the flip side, I hate people who say that everyone can have their pre-baby body back if they just work for it. AGREED!

  • AW: My 16 m/o DD is interested in potty training. (Now if my 3 y/o would just get it down!)

AW2: The photographer I assisted yesterday hinted at wanting me to be a regular 2nd shooter for him for school sessions. He has 30 years experience and spends downtime mentoring me and dispensing business advice, so yay!

AW3: DH fixed my car, cleaned it so it looks new, and put it for sale.  He wants to buy me a SUV. :)  I'll be sad to get rid of Wookie, but I will be *SO* happy to have a bigger vehicle.

FFFC: The kids and I spent 10 days in FL with my family. (DH stayed in OK.) While I was gone, DH was telling me all about the chores he did around the house. I come home, and I'm a little disappointed.  Cleaning the bathroom meant the toilet and inside the sink, but not the mirror, countertop, faucet, or floor.  Doing laundry meant just his clothes...mine and the kids were still piled in the basket and all the clothes that were in the dryer when we left were piled on the washer.  I mean, I'm glad I didn't come home to a sh*thole, but I think he made it sound like more than it was.

  • Also, if you haven't heard 5thOfJuly's concert bathroom story, it's a must hear. She's kind of my hero.

Ha! There were actually two bathroom incidents at that concert. In one of them, I'm a hero. In the other, I'm an assho!e.  :)-

I DD-ed my posts about my brother because I'm already identifiable enough on here and would hate for the confession to somehow get back to my family. BUT please know how much I appreciate all of your kind words. You made my day 100 times better!

  • What happened to all of the other posts? 2 of mine are gone and I didn't quote 5thofJuly...

Yeah, I was referring to the *** (read: hero) one.  It's awesome.
