So...DD turned 18 months this weekend. Scary how fast that went! She will be moving up to the toddler room at daycare next week and they asked me about potty training. I honestly hadn't even thought about potty training yet. When did/will you start potty training. Did you buy a little potty? Steps/Insert for regular potty? Thoughts? Advice? I'm not going to be potty training anytime soon... But just trying to plan ahead.

Re: Potty Training....
I introduced the potty around 2 and he would go here and there, but A wasn't really ready until he hit 3. The day after his 3rd b-day it was like a switch in his head went off and within 2 days was completely potty trained (both day & night). They say that girls train faster than boys though.
I used a seat for the potty & a stepstool for the same reasons as pp. I did a reward/sticker system with a chart and it worked really well for A. I also didn't use pullups, I went straight from diapers to underwear. The key I found was to find whatever motivated A & leverage that. For us it was prizes & stickers. Some kids like candy, others like money. You'll find what works for you.
Good luck!!

i did not want to clean a separate potty, did not want to teach her to use a potty anywhere (like her room or in front of the tv), and did not want to travel with it...so we bought a cushy insert when daycare told us she was ready to learn. this way, we did it at the same time and it was reinforced wherever she was.
my parents and ILs also bought inserts to keep in their homes for her.
you just have to take them often - and keep reminding them. and whoop it up when they get it right! we gave 2-3 m&m's at home, but daycare made her a little chart and the teacher got her a disney store tinkerbell lunch kit thingy when she filled it. it was very special to her. i guess mom and dad give lots of things - a teacher gift was totally unexpected and unique!
i think she was around 2 when we started. also, daycare does it as a group - all your little buddies come with you, you watch them, they watch you - it's very exciting to them - lol!

Around 18 months my mom bought A a 3-in-1 potty. Its a regular small potty, the seat comes off and fits on the regular toilet, and closing the potty turns in into a stool.
We have kept it in our downstairs bathroom since then. He would come in sit on it with his clothes on, play with it, etc. Within the last 3 months he will randomly come in and ask to take his clothes and diaper off and sit on it while one of us may be in there. He is sitting for longer periods of time and Ive tried to explain to him that "pee pee goes in the potty"
Thats where we are at and A just turned 2 last month. It doesnt hurt to have something as a starting point so she gets the concept of going potty!
Im not really sure where Im going to go from here, maybe a few more months and I will hard core try to potty train, we will see! GL
