Re: Friend Hugging?
I am not a hugger, unless I am drunk.
They see us rollin'...they be hatin'.
my dad wasn't always a hugger. but he is now. (after mom passed away we became much more vocal about saying i love you, hugs)
my mom however always hugged us. especially when we were mad at her. she'd say she loved us anyway and force a hug. i miss that now.
in my family it's kind of rude not to hug our aunts/uncles/grandmother hello. i don't hug my cousins unless i am close with them. on mom's side it's a hug and cheek kiss . for everyone.
i hug my friends. oh my gosh. i'm a crazy hug person.
I'm a huge hugger here. I love hugging. I try to be sensitive to others lack of interest in the hug though.
The first person I thought of when I saw this post was Star. At her baby shower I went in for a hug and immediately caught the vibe so I downshifted into a virtual belly rub (where I don't actually touch the belly but pretend to give a rub).
I heard tires screetching and gears grinding in my head when I downshifted to back off, lol.

Unless it's our first time to meet, I hug everyone!
My cousin/aunt kiss on the cheek and it's weird. They kissed Hubs one time and he came out saying that was uncomfortable. But his family kisses on the lips. One time I was surprised attacked by his mother and she got me on the lips. Side hugs for that family from then on!
The only people I kiss goodbye are my niece and nephew.
I hug. A lot, especially my kids.
My family didn't hug a lot so I have no idea where I get it.
Careful. They might rub off on you.
Will you still be my friend, though? And will you let me hug you??
I only do the cheek kiss with family, but that is normal for us since all my mom's side is from Louisiana and it is just customary, our Cuban family does this as well - we hug and give a kiss on the cheek, so I am just used to that way for greeting/leaving family.
However. I don't do that with friends. I will hug friends if I have not seen them in awhile or things like that. DH's family are huggers too, I have always been around it so I don't mind
i'm a sporadic hugger.....don't mind hugs from friends/family; have just now started getting used to hugs from beau's family (they're huggers); don't like hugs from aquaintances/coworkers/strangers. i come from a very, VERY non huggy family.
but once, i was so happy/excited to see a friend that, for some reason i'll never know, i tried to do that kiss on the cheek thing. only it was at the wrong angle and became awkward. i have no idea what the hail got into me.
at the funeral we went to recently Matt went to do the kiss on the cheek thing to my aunt and they kissed on the lips. They both just moved on and didn't mention it but I for some reason thought it was hilarious.
I'm kind of a hugger...I think I am a hugger...but mainly my friends and drunken hugger... I love a good hug. You need 11 hugs a day to be healthy... I am severely UNDER hugged.
A colleague went in for the cheek kiss during an akward half-hug the other day. He ended up kissing my neck. I am still really creeped out by it.
Guess that adds to his predetermined Sleeze Factor?
Without a doubt!
I love hugging! But I can tell when people are not comfy, so I just do a shoulder tap or side hug.
My mom is not huggy at all, but my dad is very huggy and he likes to kiss you on the cheek, his whole family is affectionate.
My husband is very affectionate to my son, and with me 75% of the time! (haha). But all in all we have an intimate marriage.
I love my friends and give them hugs hello and goodbye most of the time.
I hug family and friends I haven't seen in a long time, but not friends I see on a daily basis or weekly basis.
I hug and kiss my kid like a million times a day - I hug handsome goodbye with a kiss - Noah dictates lately the kind of kiss... which is kind of weird...
I'm ALWAYS a drunk hugger and screamer - OHMYGOD! I HAVEN'T SEEN YOU IN YEARS! kind of hugger
