OK. I have got to tell someone about this. Today I was at work. (I am a retail supervisor- for now.) We have an employee who is mentally disabled. He comes in a few days a week and dusts shelves and does other tasking as part of his program.
Said employee, (we'll call him J), approaches me and asks if we can talk for a minute. I say sure, invite him into my office, etc... The following conversation ensues:
Me: Hi J. I see you're getting ready to leave for the day, what's up?
J: Well, I'm not really sure how to say this, but I think you have a crush on me.
Me: Well, um... no, I don't. I'm married. I like you as a friend only, J. Why do you think that?
J: You smiled at me.
Me: Ok, well I am a friendly person. I like being at work and I smile at a lot of people.
J: Ok. Because I don't really know what to feel and I am not allowed to be in a romantic relationship with anybody at work.
Me: Right. Yes, well, I don't want to be in a relationship with you. I am married.
J: So I think you want to be in a romantic relationship with me, and you can't. I think we should just be friends.
Me: Yes, J. I think that would be best. I like you just the same as I like everyone else. Not romantically. Just as a friend. I hope I don't make you uncomfortable.
J: No, not really.
Me: Ok. Anything else?
J: No
Me: Ok, well have a good day.
I was so taken aback I was almost at a total loss for words. FML. Today was so ridiculous.
Re: Yup... that just happened.
wow... so awkward but so funny!

This! Hope it won't be awkward next time you're both working at the same time.
How awkward! However...kinda funny. It sounds like a scene from The Office.
