  • Welcome to the board and good luck with the wedding planning.

We're Canadians (H is dual French) living in France. I also planned our wedding from overseas.

  • Hello!  FH and I are living in Turkmenistan, but I'm currently in Dubai as we're on our way to our wedding in Italy.  We planned from him in NY and me in Dubai, then him in Turkmenistan and me in Dubai, then both of us in Turkmenistan.

But it will all be over soon!  Yay!

Planning from abroad has been interesting. We picked out the big stuff (church, reception venue, my dress!) before I moved. Now we're trying to pick out a band or DJ and a photographer, but it's so hard w/o being able to meet any of them in person to see their portfolios, or see if we click. I'm going to have to cram a lot of that stuff in when I'm back in DC in December for the holidays... I'm just hoping it's not too late. I know a lot of girls book all their vendors 10+ months in advance. Eek! I'm sure it'll work out in the end, though!

Can you "virtually" meet the DJs, bands, photographers through skype video conference perhaps?

Ha! I would have thought the same thing! Can you imagine some brides may even use that in conversation? "I just got my STD's!", "This STD looks a bit funny" or "I gave my mother a STD, and I haven't heard from her since".  I should hang out on the Knot more often.

And this is why I don't use The Knot. I don't get their weird abbreviations, and I am already stressing too much with MY wedding, I don't need to keep reading about other's stress lol

Anyway, Hii!!! Welcome! I'm brazilian, moving to U.S to marry my american fianc?. Hope you like this board, the best quality is ''drama-free'' Yes

    Thanks everyone!

I grew up in Montgomery County, MD. I went to college in Baltimore (where I met my FI). Then after graduation I got a job in downtown DC, so moved there. I was living right in Chinatown of DC until I moved here.

It's tough, I can relate Tongue Tied I couldn't order anything before we have my visa in hand, it's awful, we'll be going crazy once I arrive there, and we'll have less than 2 months to get married. Hopefully things will work fine since we  want a small ceremony and reception. Good luck with your wedding planning! Smile

Yeah, I may end up doing some of that. My mom and FMIL are also really great about helping, and want me to lean on them, so I will for things like that.

  • Hi!  When I got married, I was living in London (still am), and had to play it all from here.  I went home about 4 months before my wedding and figured out most of the details then - including the things you have to figure out.  It worked in the end...probably because I decided to relax about it all as I had less control over it.  Don't worry too much and have fun in London!  Looking forward to meeting you.
