It is all in one checking account, one savings account, and we use one joint credit card. It just seems so much simpler to me that way. We have never thought of any of it as "his" money or "my" money, even before having kids and deciding that I would stay home.

This. As a SAHM, I don't have any income but this was the case before kids as well. In fact, we had joint everything before we were even married.

  • We have a joint account that is our "main" account ~ pretty much all bills and everything else comes out of that.

I have my own account that I use mainly for depositing money for Charlotte's school, and money I make working for my mom and doing my organizing business (well, it WILL be when I pick that back up again).

DH does not have his own account.

  • Only our IRAs and my 401k are separate, everything else is joint. I handle all our finances.

  • We have joint checking accounts.  Firstly, I haven't brought in any income since my 6 year old was a baby.  But even when I was, we had a joint account.  Then, instead of having our own separate accounts for personal spending, we just got a certain amount of cash each week.
