Re: Say say say- Anything

  • i was at target last night looking for an ipad case.  i found a really cute one, white with blue, teal, aqua zig zaggy stripes.  i turned it over to look at the price to find that, MUCH TO MY DISMAY, i liked something that was "Missoni for Target".

eh, i liked it, so i bought it.  it was marked down from $60 to $30,  so i was even happy to get a bargain.

serves me right for running my mouth about how ugly that missoni stuff was.  f-you, apple.  i have the first ipad, and evidently the second one is like 3 mm thinner because my stupid ipad doesn't fit.

    oh, the irony.

Is it "post potentially offensive pictures" week on FB?  Seriously-the amount of abused animals (to promote pet adoption) and gross insides-of-people pics this week seems excessive.

i agree. i had to block some people.  there is also a picture that i think is anti-abortion and has a picture of the a c-section, blood, a baby hand/grabbing drs hand. too graphic for me.

I think that's from an episode of house.  so silly.

But at least you didn't pay full price for it Smile  I can't believe such highly sought after stuff is already on clearance 50%.

I was just at the school they would like to have C do Speech Therapy at.  It's not our local school and I have some reservations about putting a 3 year old on a bus twice a week even if supervised.

But better than that, I'm at the school and not one of the kids is in flip flops.  Not one.  But almost all of the teachers were (all the ones I saw were female and the classes were returning form lunch so at least 10 passed by me.)  I don't know but it struck me as inappropriate.  Maybe I'm becoming an old hag.

i checked snopes on that one because i remembered seeing that pic in Time or Newsweek.  it's a real picture, but the doc was doing surgery in-utero to help a baby with spina bifida.  both mom and baby were under anesthesia, so the baby was not "grabbing" the doc's hand.

the pic where you can see the baby's footprint on the outside of a mother's stomach is not a real photo.

the pictures-of-abused-animals does nothing to me except to make me never, ever want to click on any sort of link like that.  i much prefer to see a rehabilitated happy animal with a good owner-- the "result" of what my money would be going to.  i don't give $ to those organizations because then you get picture of abused animals in the mail, too.   i mean, i would love to, but i can't handle that kind of stuff at ALL.  an they never listen when you tell them not to send you printed material.

  • whatever happened to the Hyperbole and a Half blog??

Jax - I agree on the animal stuff. I follow several "uplifting" rescue blogs; I find myself donating to them a lot more than the scare tactics organizations

  • We've essentially been sick since L started preschool. New week, new cold. She's passed out upstairs now with a fever and another ugly head cold.

And I'm paying for her to get sick, and then get us sick. I've been looking forward to those "wonderful" 12 hours a week of free time since JANUARY. They were supposed to keep me sane. Fat chance now. She has missed almost as much school as she has attended. I'm so frustrated.

I think it only gets better if they go full time.  Since we have come back we have all been sick.  Stomach bug and now colds.

I'm not sure it's gotten better for us.  Cooper has been in full-time daycare for over a year now (before he was at my mom's and in PT daycare). We still get a lot of bugs, I have averaged 1.66 sick days per month in 2011, because either Cooper or myself (or both!) are sick.  That is not counting all the weekends we were sick, Hi, My kid got sick on Memorial Day weekend AND Labor Day weekend.  NOT FAIR.

I don't get the majority of his colds, or I do but it's very mild, a sniffly nose and a slight sore throat but no fever.  BUT since January I have had strep throat, pink eye, the flu, and I'm pretty sure I had hand-foot-and-mouth but I never had blisters so it wasn't diagnosed.

I bet you all want to come hang out at my house now.  Wink

I didn't say it got better fast, I just said it gets better.  It took about 18-20 months for us with Avery.  J still gets sick more often b/c everything turns into a respiratory infection, but he is not sick nearly as much as he was at first.

I just sprayed myself in the face with wasp killer. Awesome. Tongue Tied

The day I quit my job and was ushered out of the door, I decided to clean the bathtub.  Because, you know, that's what Type A's with two weeks of vacation do.

I poured bleach into the jar I use to soak the jets and it splashed right up into my eye.  Like direct hit.  Thankfully I was smart - ripped off the gloves, pulled out my contact and stuck my head under the faucet for 5 min.  Then I called DH, consulted Dr. Google and called Poison Control just to be safe.

Cooper constantly has a runny nose, but rarely runs fever.  I think it depends on the kid.  He had 5-6 ear infections his first year, no fever.  Teething, no fever.  Two weeks ago was the first time he really ran fever for an extended amount of time - most of the time his "fever" is upper 99.  This was 101+ for 3 days.

The worst was the stomach bug that he passed around in March.  I wanted to die.  I spent all weekend cleaning up after him, then I got sick and ran fever for the first time in like 10 years.  Then DH got sick, plus my mom and sister caught it. I still owe my friend for being here and helping me clean up projectile puke without freaking out.

  • Thanks for the input. We'll suck it up for at least a little while longer and cross our fingers that it gets better. After this new round of strep goes away Crying

  • it gets better, and you will barely remember it after a couple of years.  and your little muffin's immune system will get all strong and sassy, too.

I remember having this same exact conversation with Harmony months ago. It does get better. Granted she still gets sick it isn't every.single.week like it was before.

  • Whoa.  That was fast.  The house next door to mine went on the market last Thursday, maybe Wednesday, I'm not sure but the sign appeared Thursday morning.  And as of this morning it shows "option pending" on har.com.   There was a couple that looked at it twice last Thursday and they stayed until after 8pm, so I'm guessing they're the potential buyers.  Now I wish I'd been nosier.  I didn't get a good look at them.  Y'all cross your fingers I get awesome neighbors, preferably with kids.

  • according to his gf's posts on fb, my HS friend Chris never made it home last night.  they filed a missing person report, and found his boat on the side of the freeway.  a little further down, they found his truck.

they found him in a field near IAH this morning, and he's been taken to the hospital...no news on what kind of trauma he's endured or what kind of condition he's in.  please if you pray, pray for Chris.  he has always been a wonderful, kind, stand-up guy.

  • I found out that a family member is having a kids birthday party at a bar.

Ok, so it isn't entirely a bar.  More of a restaurant/bar.  Kinda like the Dixie Chicken I guess.  But still.

i do not believe he was ill, though it is always a possibility.  there are not a lot of details, and she has not updated in a while.  i am so scared for them.

I knew a dad who planned his kids 4 year old birthday at hooters. His mom had just had another baby and let him plan it. she was not happy.
