    How did your H propose?

This is such a long answer... Nothing in our lives has ever gone according to plan, haha!

I was born and raised in the south, so my parents had the expectation that he would ask them (both, not just my dad) for permission. Over spring break of our freshmen year in college, we had him over for dinner and afterward, we all sat in the living room and he asked their permission to marry me after college. We had been together since we were 16, and while they were a little skeptical, they said yes.

A few weeks later, I got a call from my mom asking if he has popped the question yet. I told her no, and she hinted "If he asks you to go for a walk with him... GO!" A couple days later, he came by by dorm and asked if I wanted to go for a walk with him. There was a beautiful little gazebo near a stream in the back corner of our campus and I knew he was taking me there to propose. But, weather in that town being what it was, it started absolutely pouring on our way there. I don't like the rain, and it puts me in a bad mood, so knowing that, we went back to his dorm and he made me dinner. I kept waiting and waiting for him to propose, but he never did, haha!

Then later on that night, he told me to pack a bag for the night and he took me to the condo his parents had bought in town a few months before (no one was living there at the time). We didn't have a car, so we had to take buses and walk in the rain to get there. When we finally did, we piled blankets and pillows on the floor and just went to sleep. The next morning, he asked me "What are your plans for the rest of your life?" I was still groggy, so I gave a mumbled response about finishing school, getting a job, etc etc. Then he rolled me over and said, "Well, there's something you haven't mentioned. Will you be my wife?" It was sweet and perfect.

Hmm... that's a tough one. Probably Picks because her life is so exciting and different from mine right now. :)

H and I had dinner at Panera last night... I had baked potato soup in a bread bowl and it was delicious!

I have a little over 100 lbs to lose. It's pretty daunting to think of it that way, but I take it a few lbs at a time.

What keeps you motivated to stick to your weight loss goals?

Honestly, not wanting to deal with the same health issues my mom has. She's got diabetes, the same heart condition my gma (her mom) died from, and a thyroid issue. If my mom follows the same timeline my gma did (and she has more health issues than my gma did), then I've only got about 8 more years with her. I don't want to die at 50, thanks.

what's your favorite kind of exercise?

I really enjoy most kinds of exercise, once I'm actually doing it. Currently my favorites are zumba and wall-ball with medicine balls.

He's very supportive. It's a big learning process for him too because even though he was blessed with a fast metabolism, most of what he grew up eating consisted of carbs - pasta, pizza, mac & cheese, etc. He never ate a salad or a sandwich with more than meat and cheese (no veggies) before he met me. He also never ate any meat except chicken. His mom didn't cook much, and she hates veggies. As far as exercise goes, we've always been semi-active together, going on walks or hikes, swimming, etc.

What's your favorite healthy meal? snack? lunch?

This may sound ridiculous, but thanks to how I grew up, "healthy" meals in my mind aren't actually very healthy. So I'm still learning. But my current favorite meals look something like this:

Breakfast - 1 egg any way I want, 1 fruit (right now apples or bananas), and a glass of milk

Lunch - Salad (any kind) with white mushrooms, fish (tilapia or salmon) and a little vinegar

Snack - I really like Clif energy bars, so I have one for a snack pretty much every day, or I'll eat a piece of fruit, or nuts.

Dinner is always a big question mark. I need to factor in what my H will eat with what I know how to cook. This is my biggest trouble spot right now.

what do you do for work?

Right now, nothing. I'm embracing the role of "housewife" and doing volunteer work with Homeward Pet and the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention. I was the office manager and marketing coordinator of the last few places I worked - they were small businesses, but I loved the power and authority I had. :) I've discussed helping my trainer organize her business and market it, so hopefully I'll be starting that soon.

Hmm, I would have to say the stepups my trainer had me do last session. They were about 1.5 feet off the ground and I had to step up, bring my other foot to meet it, and step back down. They don't sound hard, but when you've got about 100 extra lbs and you're facing a mirror... it was pretty devastating. I was able to do them, but I swear I could feel every single ounce of my weight. I'll never be fat again, lol!

sounds exactly like my H.....he is also supportive but sometimes he gets in the pizza craving mood....and it's so hard for me to say no to pizza when he's begging....or for me to just eat something healthy  while he eats pizza. That's the only area where he tends to bump me off. but I guess it's mostly me being weak.

Pizza is a big weakness for me too. I love it. My H usually chooses just a plain cheese pizza, but there's still a lot of fat and oil in it. My absolute biggest food addiction is cheese, as weird as that sounds. But there's so much fat and sodium in it, it's a big problem.

    Oh that's really cool....

Honestly...I "fell off the wagon" right after the wedding and haven't done any working out at all since then (almost 3 months)....and I have gained almost all of my weight back.

But when I was actually active, I did zumba at my gym, (Vision Quest in Kent) and I bought a groupon for 10 zumba classes at Lee's Martial Arts in Renton and Maple Valley, but I have only gone to them once.

For some reason I feel nervous to get back into it, like it's my first time going again. Weird. But I need to get active again....

And  I totally agree with your cheese addiction! Have you tried the light babybel cheese? Costco has them in a big bag for like 9.99. They are nice b/c they are yummy and only 50cals each. I love them for a snack, with like an orange or apple. Better than string cheese I think.

Ugh, it's SO hard to get active again after a long time... I'm actually 4'11" and in high school never weighed more than 125. A lot happened in my college years that threw me completely off the wagon, so I've had a difficult time getting back into it. When we moved here a few months ago, I decided to try again, and I had a little bit of success, but sticking to it was hard. I had to admit I couldn't do it alone and I got a trainer. She lives in my complex, so it's great. Zumba is really a lot of fun though. I was really really nervous going since I'm so heavy and was sure I'd make a fool of myself. But it's not too difficult and the music is usually awesome!
