Re: Monday randoms

  • Our weekend was terrific.

On Friday, Jim and I had an at home date.  We put the kids to bed, and ate pizza with wine while catching up on Th. night NBC shows on hulu.

Sat. we cleaned windows and the garden.  Then to Jim's coworkers friends house for their fall party.  They live on a farm, and let guests pick out a pumpkin from their patch.  And then we came home and cleaned because we had a showing yesterday.

Yesterday was church, ArtPrize, and Halloween costume prep.

  • On Sat Brian had a chriopracter appt in Hudsonville, so we went to Spring Grove park after that. The park is very pretty, however there were a ton of family pictures being taken, so we left after a little bit, so we didn't accidently end up in a family picture. After that we went to Frog Hollow Park and had lunch. When we got home, we put the girls down for a nap and I snuck out to Artprize and hit up a few last spots I wanted to go to. After naps, we took the girls swiming.

On Sunday, we had Amelia's b-day party for my side of the family at my parents house. We couldn't have asked for a better day! The kids had a blast playing outside with all their cousins.

  • Weekend was nice...Starting Thursday was Noah's birthday and his party with our families.  He HATED his cake and once he touched the frosting he wanted it off his hand and he wanted it off NOW!  He was a little meh about opening gifts too.  He just wanted to crawl and play with his old toys.Smile

Friday Noah had his 1 year well child visit and was not a big fan of the shots.  Poor baby got a fever from them (but consequently slept through the night, which I was not complaining about).  Then we went to visit my best friend and her new baby.  Nothing like 2 day old baby cuddles.

Saturday we had some friends over for N's bday.  It was a ton of fun.  We played in our big backyard and drank wine and ate well.

Sunday we relaxed.  It was day #1 of making Noah cry it out for naptime (I know, I should have done it MONTHS ago).  What an epic failure!  after 53 minutes, I caved and after rocking him to sleep he slept for 20 minutes when he normally sleeps for 2 hours.  Hmmm...day #2 has to go better right?  HAHAHAHA

  • One of the gifts that Mia got was this (along with a mini baby doll)

    http://www.target.com/p/Our-Generation-Laundry-Room-Playset/-/A-13408392

The girls were very preplexed about these items and how you use them, especially the ironing board. They put the baby in basket, thinking it was her bed. And then Allison looked at the ironing board and asked "what's this" and put the baby on top.   I had to explain what an ironing board was. ha ha!

  • My kids wouldn't know what an ironing board was either.  Do the girls have a doll house?

  • My weekend was ok. Saturday I went to a friend's son's soccer game, went to Target, and saw a good friend Sat night. Saturday I could not sleep at all due to this cold. Fell asleep around 4 am - up at 8 back to bed til noon. Cleaned, nap again, laundry. Today I want to crawl back into bed again.

No...that is next year's Christmas gift idea. Well they have a little people one, but not a big doll house.

And, I really hope my sister didn't spend that much money. Indifferent I'm hoping it is cheaper in the store.

  • I clicked on the link and, for a minute, thought it was a full sized deal, like Little Tykes.    It's small, like for a doll house, right?  I'll bet she found a great deal.

  • My weekend was mixed. Saturday I had the case of "Everyone hates me". So I pretty much stayed in my room and watched video's online catching up on Hawaii 5-O and Watching Pan AM.

Sunday was better. Laundry and a bit of cleaning done. DH worked most of the weekend.

  • Went to VanderFest on Saturday and had a great time talking with all the brewers and beer club members.

Yesterday we had lunch with two of my sisters and their families. Was a lot of fun.

Barbie doll size...which will work out good if they ever get into Barbie dolls.

  • Willa was invited to a birthday party.  It is for girls only and is a Princess Tea Party.  Girls are welcome to come dressed as their favorite princess.  She grew out of her well used princess dress.  I'm trying to convince her to dress as Princess Willa (we'll make her a hat, and she can wear all of her jewlery).  She's unimpressed.  Aside from a new purchase, is there any work arounds I may not have thought of?

    Curses to the Princess fad.

Borrow!  Out of all the moms we know, someone has to have something she can wear to the party.  Put a call out on FB and maybe you'll get something.  I wouldn't want to buy either - esp at Halloween time, since nothing will be on sale until after.

Maybe Tigers has something?  M is older than Willa, right?

  • We had a great weekend.

Friday I actually had a doc appt. to talk about my foot problem - so far I've been following the suggestions and have had minimal pain, so I'm psyched for that.  We had some beers downtown and watched the Brewers win their series.

Saturday was the Urban Adventure Race and it was so friggin' fun.  We had an absolute blast and I think we'll be avid adventure racers in the future.  I was zonked so Andy enjoyed Pulaski days w/friends while I napped and then joined up with them for the Tigers game.

Sunday we did an intense house clean followed by a long bike ride on the Kent Trails.

I had to adjust my work schedule so I can leave at 4:30 for the Tigers games this week. :-)

I've always wanted to do that. DH and I need to get back into shape first though :-(

  • I'm suffering from an ArtPrize hangover from the weekend. And just a wee bit of a real hangover from the ArtPrize staff party last night. Open bars are dangerous, y'all.

  • I did it!

I just talked to my boss to get his approval to apply for an internal position in a different department.  He seemed sad and said he didn't want to lose me.  Awww.  He made it sound like I have a good chance at getting the job.  I'm very excited.  :)

  • Woo hoo, D&MJ! Very exciting!

We had a great weekend, too. Two rounds of Pulaski celebrations left us a little tired. Henry slept until 10 am on Sunday! Too many polkas, I guess.

I made the sweet potato burritos on Sunday. Awesome. I only had 3 cups of sweet potatoes so there were some beans leftover. I melted cheese over them and it made the best bean dip ever. I think there will be my new go to beans side dish.

  • We had a business lunch today with the owner of the floor we use. He hasn't charged us so far but now we is getting pressure from his bank on the mortgage and want to talk to us and we gave us what he is looking at needing to keep things going. It was more than we expected but still not a huge shock. We've been rent free for a while now but DARN!! That place is expensive. There are a lot of things we like but it does have some draw back too. What to do What to do????
  • We too had a great weekend!  We went "up north" to Higgins and Traverse City.  And we fully unplugged for the weekend, no phones, no internet, no TV.  It was just what this little family needed.  Scott received a promotion last month (Ya!) but it has required him to work from 7 am-9pm M-Sat (boo!) So it was so nice to have time just the 3 of us.  I feel so refreshed and happy.  Smile

Glad you got to spend some quality time together. It can make a world of a difference.

    Surprise

You totally don't strike me as the type to be hungover.  I'm glad you had a good time with ArtPrize in general and the party specifically.  Open bars are fun.

I think you were a perfect fit for the ArtPrize team and really enjoyed seeing your photos.

    Yes

    Good luck!

  • My weekend was lovely.  It was just what I needed--as it always is.  If bifurcation=balance, then I have it.  My life is pretty much in two pieces right now, crazy hard work at school during the week and then a restful, fun relaxing weekend to take my mind off things.  It seems to be working okay and there really aren't a whole lot of alternatives to better blend the two pieces.

I've got lots of what feels like catching up to do this week, but is really just getting a good handle on things since I'm not *technically* behind.  It feels more good than scary to cross the halfway point.  In many ways, I'm looking forward to exams.  For better or worse, it will be kind of a relief to have some idea how good I truly am at this thing.

There is actually a very large range of fitness levels.  You can always walk the on foot portion and take your time on the bike portion.  I'd definitely recommend it! :-)

No, you're right, I'm not the type to be hungover. I didn't drink very much anyway, so it wasn't anything major - just a tiny headache, and I know it's because I forgot to drink my glass of water before bed. It's more like I felt "off" than anything else. And the headache is already gone.

I'm glad you enjoyed the photos. Smile There are still more coming!

I don't think there is anything wrong with a hangover once in a while.  Wink
