Anyone want to talk wedding ideas?

Re: Anyone want to talk wedding ideas?

  • Are you going to pay for someone to hollow out the pumpkins? 'Cause that could get very pricy.

And doing it yourself would be a big painintheass.

  • Those wee baby pumpkins are adorable. I'm pretty sure a girl from my local board used those as her place cards with a leaf shaped tag (very small wedding maybe 30 guests).

Maybe she found them on the same blog I did? (The Disney wedding blog, btw...)

My version of the "twisty branches in a wine bottle."

Wine bottles would have been so much easier than this. Mom and I busted ass putting these damn things together, and they really don't look like much in just regular lighting. But we had tiny strings of lights woven in with the branches, and they were gorgeous with the lights down.

  • That's beautiful kmdubs!

  • Kandee, I love your friend's wedding! Her send off dress is adorable.

DL, I also vote fairytale pumpkins. It will break up all of the orange, but stay with your fall theme.

  • DL - remind me again when the wedding is? I'm assuming next fall sometime. Could you use fake pumpkins, and scoop them up with this year's post-Halloween sales? Some of them are quite nice looking and could be spray painted too.
  • I actually enjoy your wedding posts... I was always clueless on center pieces. Only a few things struck me as awesome. I am also iffy on the idea of flowers. Not a clue why.

We are getting married at the end of October next year, yes I was thinking along those lines of picking up some stuff after the holiday.

  • DL-- You could do porcelain pumpkins! That way they come hollowed out (prepared for candles or flowers if you wanted to do it that way) & you don't have to spend a lot of time doing it yourself. Also, you could keep them for planters etc. after the wedding (as opposed to the gourds which will rot).

I also remember one of the color schemes you proposed (in your brainstorming) was the blush, cream & a rosy hue, yes? I don't remember the blue being mentioned, but don't mind me if I can't keep it all straight.

You could go a little bit "offbeat" and do things like wheat or leaves combination for your "flowers" if you wanted to. Though I think flowers are always pretty-- they are not required as you know.

    Some ideas for your planning:

I hope maybe that helps contribute a bit to any ideas that might interest you. Some of the best fun is brainstorming! Take what you like and keep looking for the rest! Have fun!

  • I really like the manzanita branches in the bottle ideas... Ooo, you could even make little pomanders to hang from the branches- Just get a green floral ball and soak it, then push in gerber daisys, sunflowers, carnations, anything with a sturdy stem and then hang them from the branches.  You could use the corks from bottles at home as the place card holders.  I also love a tall, round glass vase filled with water and a floating candle on top.  You can put little pumpkins (or anything else that fits your colors) in the base.

I love the carnation orbs in deep colors.  Fill a low bowl with green foam and and tuck the carnations in very tightly.  A lot of inpact for a limited cost.

  • NO CARNATIONS!  Carnations make Baby Jesus cry.

  • Imoan, I said the same thing, until my wedding, when the carnations made the prettiest pomanders...

But I think using carnations in any other use besides tightly packed so you can't easily tell they're carnations is an abomination.

  • I had a fall wedding, too, and just loved all the available colors (red, amber, orange, brown, gold, etc).

What about using cranberries and candles?

Maybe a mix of crans and mini pumpkins?

Thank you! I would gag at the thought of carnations but after working with my boyfriends mother at her flower shop I have a new found appreciation for the money saving impact these little flowers make.
