Would you pay $795 for
a deep teeth cleaning, some kind of disinfectant for the mouth and gums, and two cavity fillings?
It has since been lowered to just over $400.

I don't know... my insurance covers a lot of it. It all depends on what your insurance covers and what it doesn't.
$795 for dental doesn't sound outrageous to me, but if you are insured I would start to wonder.
If it makes you feel better I was just quoted 2K for a crown.
My insurance pays for most of my dental stuff, so I'm really not sure how much that stuff actually costs. I would't pay that if that was my portion after insurance.
Is the deep cleaning and disinfectant for gum disease or something? I wouldn't pay for services like that if it wasn't medically necessary.
This is for H. I feel a bit better about it being around $400, especially with a payment plan. I'm just pissed because he doesn't go to the dentist for regular cleanings and I want to blame him. fuuuuck
Broc, I will have to get a bridge in a few years, depending on when this baby tooth I have decides to pop out. Has no adult tooth under it.
Will cost around 2k, as well. Or I could get an implant for about 4k. yippee.
My insurance pays 100% of preventative 2x a year and full mouth x-rays every 4 yrs.
They pay 80% for fillings, crowns and root canals. It used to only be 50% for crowns, but they have since increased it to 80%.
I've been burned on fillings though because my dentist only does the white fillings and my insurance only pays for silver fillings in back teeth or the backs of the front teeth (anywhere it doesn't show when you smile, pretty much). So I ahve to pay the difference.
I think my portion of a crown is usually around $400 (which is 20% of the total cost). DS had 5 very small fillings about 2 yrs ago and my portion was just under $400.
yea definitely . im a dental hygienist so of course I think you should, cuz the bacteria can go in your blood stream and cause other problems, BUT if you cant afford it, they typically do the deep cleaning in four sections. ask which section is the worst and ask them to clean it first and just do each section as you can afford it. doesnt sound high for what you need done.
is the disinfectant a mouth wash or arestin? if its the prescription mouth i would get it, if its arestin you can skip it, it does work for problem ares but they often over prescribe to make $
I had that done, the implant, when I was 18 or so. It was a whole big mess I won't get into unless you really want to hear about it. My implant is pretty sweet though.
