More NaNo - a POHLLE

I have a few ideas rolling around now.

Idea 1: Make another attempt that the novel I started a couple NaNos ago, in which the lead of a Bachelor-esque dating show falls for one of the production assistants.

Idea 2: Trashy historical romance novel set in colonial somethingorothersburg in which a fiesty shopkeeper's daughter and some hot apprentice/soldier/whotheeffknows have a passionate affair and everything else mentioned in the romance research thread.

Idea 3: Do something non-fiction. This is what comes most naturally to me, but my my life isn't interesting enough to write a memoir, unless people really want to read about Bible college, Maine, and being broke.

LOL, if that option wins in a landslide I'm screwed! Haha. I'm wicked torn between 1 and 2. Both sound fun in theory before the actual work begins.

  • would it help you to decide if I told you that I just read a free Kindle book that was very similar to the plot of #1 and it was just okay, not amazing?

Num-ber-two, Num-ber-two! (That's me chanting and possibly banging my fists on the desk)

  • That does kind of help!

Two would probably be more fun, and easier to power through if I started losing steam.

  • Yay, somebody voted for "these all suck!" lol
  • I'm also leaning a little towards three. Make it fictional, but based on your own life. Human relationships and humor are always interesting.

Could you spice up a fictionalized memoir with a  fiesty shopkeeper's daughter and some hot apprentice/soldier/whotheeffknows. I hear they have those, even in Maine!

I'm doing a fictionalized memoir, though, so that's where my mind is. How I'm going to work widowhood into a light comedy read is still open to debate.

Well, I have been a fiesty shopkeeper, myself ... that's how I met the bf. He was my boss. So technically he was the shopkeeper and I was his fiesty assistant.

Actually, our back story would make a good novel, but I suspect actually writing about it would be a bad idea.

I'm interested to see how you do the bolded as well! If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been widowed?

  • Non-fiction is not allowed. :P

I don't mind you asking. My husband died about a year and a half ago. Brain cancer. So honestly, there wasn't a lot of humor in my house the last 3+ years. But with two teenage boys in the house, I either have to find stuff to smile about, or I'd be in jail, serving two life sentences. For teenicide.

I'm sorry :( Stupid effing cancer. And yeah ... I can imagine re: the bolded! lol
