Punky and mfmenchi, post your wedding-related drama here!

We could all use some entertainment.  Not that I want to imply your frustrations should be fodder for our amusement but...oh, heck, give us something to preoccupy us and make this dreary day go faster!

  • I'm too afraid she lurks :(

    I'll email it to you.

  • Aww, bummer.

Private entertainment for me though, woohoo!  Let it all out, girl! :)

  • Well I'll play along...

Not so much drama right now. UNLESS you want me to start from about 2 months ago when the drama ran HIGH. Right now I am stressing about leaving for our wedding in 3 weeks from Saturday and still missing some key things that we need. The groom/groomsmen still do not have shirts. They have pants, actually 2 out of the 3 have pants and no shirts. My FI is ridiculously picky and can't find a shirt that he likes. It's a casual beach wedding, they are wearing khakis and white button down shirts (if we ever find them). You would think that would be easy. But no... FI wants a short sleeved white shirt with NO pockets which is proving to be difficult when trying to find all the sizes. We had one, but we needed a medium and they only had L, XL & XXL. Of course right? My rehearsal dinner dress has to be fitted, WAY too big on me and because I work from 8-4 the place I go is never open. The flower girl dress has to have the ribbon changed out (also at the place where my dress will be done) and to top it off David's Bridal ordered the wrong size ribbon and it won't come in until long after the wedding so we will have to make due with the size they gave us. My wedding dress almost got taken at customs when my parents went down on Monday. That would've been the topping on the cake, let me tell you. One of my bridesmaids is in India, and will be there until October 23, and she still hasn't had her dress fitted so she'll have October 24 until November 5 to have that done. The documents we need notarized are 3/4 done, then the notary's stamp broke (yup that's my luck) Oh and we don't know who is watching Simon yet.

Is that enough stress? There's definitely more but I can't think of it due to the total overload right now... I can dial up my nonsense from months ago if you need more entertainment.

  • Aww, mfmenchi, that sounds annoying. I would focus on buying your husband a shirt and getting the documents notarized. The rest is just gravy.  Hang in there!

I have to confess that I stumbled across an acquaintance's WeddingBee account the other day, and I am delighted. Seriously. She's going to provide endless amounts of drama/crazy for the next two years. (I may delete this, as she may have found her way here. And I don't want to lose my entertainment!) She's been with her fiance forever, and has apparently been buying wedding magazines for the past 7 years.  They're having no more than 90 people at their wedding, but they're having a bridal party of 18. (And, of course, she's already asked all of them.) Oh, and she picked out her engagement ring because she liked the ring Elle Woods got in Legally Blonde 2.  It's a freaking goldmine!

  • Ugh, everything comes to a head right before the wedding.  You'll get through it, mfmenchi!  It happens to everyone but I have yet to hear of a couple who didn't end up married at the end of the day despite logistical nightmares.

Vent here anytime you want to let off some steam!

Rock: Thanks. It's just too much sometimes. And with starting the new job I am slightly more stressed.

  • mfmenchi, the last few weeks are so many little details.  I do not miss that time.

5000Candles, I always wonder about the people who post about all of this stuff online and if they realize that people they know IRL can easily find it.  I always feel a little awkward when I recognize someone on the knot.

At the very least you have to share all the ridiculous stories with us here!

mfmenchi, you do have a lot going on right now.  This time next year you'll be able to pat yourself on the back and think, "I rocked that!"  Hugs in the meantime!

  • mfmenchi- I would take Simon for you in a heartbeat if I was in a house up there, but a 1 bedroom apartment is just too small and they have a limit on the number of dogs you can have Sad  I hope you find someone soon.  I am the queen of shopping and am now looking for shirts for your FI and his groomsmen.  I will let you know if I find anything.

I would never go through the wedding drama again.  That year was hell between starting a new job teaching fifth grade from teaching kindergarten, buying and renovating a house, getting a BSC puppy, my dad almost dying, my mom transplanting a kidney to my dad, and then family drama.  The transplant was in Feb and the wedding was in May, so I was there a lot helping them.

  • I've got some from my brother's wedding next year.

    1) FSIL asked a groomsman's gf to be in the wedding. FSIL only knows this girl through her being GM's gf. The 4 of them hang out, but FSIL has said when she tries to make plans just the two of them, GF makes an excuse. Good picking. So GM and GF decided to take a break/maybe break up in August so she backed out of the wedding. What do you know! Good thing it happened before dresses.

    2) FSIL replaces backed our bridesmaid with her brother's GF, whom my brother nor FSIL like very much. ::headdesk:: Apparently she didn't learn her lesson the first time that you do not ask dating couples to be in a wedding together.

    3) First FSIL picked a light brown color for dresses. On a scouting trip with MOH and a BM she fell in love with the apple red color...even though I had just worn that color in my friend's wedding just weeks before and FSIL attended the wedding. Not sure what suddenly changed there. And she had narrow it down to two dresses, one being the exact dress I wore in the aforementioned wedding.

    4) She went back to the original brown color and nixed the dress I wore at the other wedding. Everything was cool. We picked a dress. Moving on to shoes. MOH asked if bride wanted everyone to be the same height. WTF?! I'm 5'1 (MOH is short too) and there's no way I'm going to be as tall as a few of the other BMs. And I'm not wearing 6" stripper heals. FSIL asked what people normally did for shoes, I said the bride usually picks a color and the BMs buy shoes in that color. So she decides on dyables, boo. MOH was drooling over this one pair of strappy sandal-esque shoes without backs. Myself and another BM expressed our concern over them slipping off. It ended with get any dyable shoe you want.

    5) Later that night FSIL sends us all a FB message saying she decided she wants us all to wear those shoes. Even though the dresses are long. And no one will see them. But we can change into flip flops for the reception. Then why do we all have to wear the shoes at all?! ::headdesk:: I didn't respond (I wasn't the only one) so a few days later I get an "are we okay" message because she sensed I was frustrated about the shoes. ::eye roll:: So I had to play nice and be like, I was concerned about them sipping off but they are cute and it will be fine. So over this.

Thanks for the offer Pup, and let me know if you find any shirts lol. I look daily and he always finds a "problem." My dad may watch Simon, or my uncle. Not sure yet. And yes I did just say my dad. Part of my two month ago drama. Dad can't come to his own daughter's wedding Sad

It isn't "ok." I mean it's not the end of the world but it is definitely a big bummer for me. And it is his fault, and somewhat my mother's too, but mostly as FI would say "he made his own bed."

  • Have you tried K&G?  Totally random, but DH goes there when he needs to find something weird like suspenders and horrible matching outfits to wear with his BFF at my rehearsal dinner like Dumb and Dumber.

They have this one, but no XL http://www.kgstores.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/KGProductDisplay_11153_10053_59684_-1_59721_300036780_?cm_vc=63388

  • Pup that is a nice shirt! I will show FI and get his thoughts. I don't think we need XL, just 2 L's and a M. They are going to be more fitted so smaller would work. Just hope there's one close by otherwise FI will not want to make the drive. He's ridiculous.

  • I just looked and they are about 31 miles from Worcester, sorry.  He is a picky guy and what he is looking for seems to be tough to find.  I will keep looking and will ask MH if he has any suggestions.  For some reason, he always knows where to go for the most random stuff.

Yes he is very picky :/ Thank you for your help though! We haven't looked at JCPenney yet, and I was told they might have some good ones. Looked on their website and I found one hopeful so I may have to drag him to our mall (thank God it's close by).

  • MrsC, she sounds like a bebe bride.  At least she was nice enough to be concerned about whether you guys were OK?  And I agree, WTF on MOH asking about you all being the same height?  That's just weird.

mfmenchi, that sucks that your dad won't be there :(  DH's dad wasn't at our wedding either due to some health issues, but we weren't particularly sad about it in our case.  The awful thing was that in the middle of the reception he called one of his friends who was attending and asked to be put on speaker phone with a mic so he could make a little speech.  Awkward.

I've got all that awkwardness on video. Awesome.

Someone just told me that at a recent wedding one of the moms used an iPad to basically live stream the wedding to (I think it was) an ailing family member who couldn't be there.  They said it was pretty unobtrusive though and they were mostly surprised at how tech-savvy she is :)

Not that I'm saying you should do that for your dad, but it does make you appreciate some of the wonders of modern technology.

I went to a wedding 2 weeks ago, and I was playing on my phone on the drive to the reception and there were already pictures of the bride and groom on facebook. Literally 5 minutes after the wedding ended.

I don't suppose you'd like to share some of that video lol? Totally JK! Must've made for an interesting wedding/wedding video though. And honestly if the wireless worked that well on the beach I might've considered it, and also if my dad was tech-savvy. But yes, modern technology never ceases to amaze me.

WTF, MrsC all that shoe and dress drama. I mean, WTF.
