poll: baby first trip to the store?
when was your baby's first trip to the store.. ect?
i've taking him for a walk around my complex but im overprotective and worried to take him out to the store on a quick errand. i know its ftm jitters but i also watch him in his crib every night and make sure he is breathing. we also have been to the pedi 2 times so far because of congestion (which he told his perfectly normal in newborns and to use the vaporizer, aspirator, and saline drops)..

Hello. I've waited here for you. Everlong<3<br>
Re: poll: baby first trip to the store?
Jack's first trip to mall was 1 week. I didn't allow strangers to touch him.
Charlotte was at Target the day we were released from hospital because we needed food after Hurricane Irene, she was at the mall before 1 week. I had a GTG that week also with friends and kids over.
I truly believe that getting out and going is best for recovery and to get them adjusted to the world. Both kids are excellent in the car from being in the car at such a young age frequently. Then others I know who were never in the car and then were nightmares when put in.
We also were in a library group by 7 weeks.
My situation with A was different because she had reflux and was constantly crying, so bringing a screaming crying baby to public places wasn't my idea of fun. So, I don't think I brought her out of the house until she was almost 2 months old. At that point she was doing better, we had her on prevacid and rice cereal and she wasn't crying as much. I know it was just before her 1st series of vaccinations and she has them at 2 months.
I was soooo jealous of all my friends who could bring thier babies anywhere and not have issues so If A didn't have reflux I'm sure I would have been out and about MUCH earlier.
Drew was 2 weeks and we took a quick trip to Target but I kept him completely covered. Summer babies are different, but the colder weather babies, you have to be careful of germs, the flu, etc. They have NO vaccines and are way more susceptible to illness then older babies.
Id rather be cautious then end up in the hospital with a very sick newborn. Not worth it to me. Its been gorgeous out, get him some fresh air. Rockland Lake, Woodbury commons, Sugar Loaf, Nyack, Piermont. We're always out on walks, let me know if you want meet up.

2 weeks old... is was christmas shopping season.. i kept him covered and no one touched him!
best of luck! andrew will be a yr soon and i still watch the video monitor and check on him a bunch each night...
Our first trip out was to BJs when I think Kevin was 2 or 3 weeks old. We went at night hoping nobody would be around and had him completely covered. After that the reflux/colic started and I hardly went anywhere until he was 8 weeks old b/c I didn't want to risk a crying episode.
After George's 1 week pedi appt, we made a very quick stop into Target (around the corner from the office). It was nearly empty at the time and he stayed in his infant seat the few minutes we were there.
At 3 weeks, we took him (DH, my sister and I) to the Westchester Mall for a few hours. I was getting stir crazy and really needed to walk. We chose that mall knowing it is completely dead during the weekdays and there are nursing lounges at Nordstom. No one dared touch him but, if they had tried he had an entourage that was ready to slap hands :-)
