Re: QOTD - Monday (commuting)
DH and I drive in together and it's about 12-15 minutes in the morning (he drops me off). In the afternoons, maybe 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. If we took Metro, it would be 45-50 minutes for me and about an hour for him. While I occasionally feel slightly guilty about not using public transportation, it's worth the extra cost to me not to deal with the giant mess that is Metro.

I'm also surprised by the number of short commutes! I spent 6 long years on a 1.5-hour one-way commute (drive, park, ride metro, walk). So did hubby.
Now that the office moved to VA, I start work earlier (7:30), drive, and it takes 45 minutes in the a.m. and 50-60 at night. Quality of life has greatly improved!

I work the majority of my hours from home.
But, when I go into the office I drive, 20 min to and from the office usually. I work early hours and leave early in the afternoon, so I miss most traffic.
folks in my office think I live "so" far away, but I'm about average, compared to you guys....in the AM, it's about 45 mins (plus the 15 it takes me to get to the carpool lot). In the evening, we're generally back at the carpool lot within 35 mins (plus, again, another 15 or so to get home).
I love where I live, and have been commuting on the Toll Road for 20 years, so (except for the toll part) I don't even notice the time any more!
"What is a week-end?"
Don't have one:) I work from home and the babysitter comes to our house.
For several years I had an hour to an hour commute into downtown DC - I don't miss it at all...
I SAH now, but when I did work outside the house...
Drive
Going: anywhere from 45 minutes to 1:15 depending on any accidents or random closures/construction on rock creek pkwy
Home: about 45 minutes give or take a few.
I drive and have to drop DD off at daycare and pick her up. My morning commute is about 20-25 minutes. The afternoons take about 20 minutes to get home. Not too bad!
I had to drive into DC today for a class and holy cow! I was reminded why I refuse to work in the District! It took me an hour to drive in this morning! It took about 45 minutes to get home this afternoon, but I also left DC at 4p, so early in the commute.
Late poster to this - N had his 18 month check up yesterday afternoon.
I drive 125 miles round trip. Morning trip is an hour & half w/ daycare drop off. Afternoon is a bit longer because he doesn't wake up from his nap until 4-4:30 and that puts me home around 5-5:30 even though I get out of work around 2:30.
AM: Kids to daycare (25min)
To Bethesda (45min) or Fairfax (1hr-1hr 15min)
PM: Straight home about 1 hour but if I have to pick up the kids about 1.5hours.
This is an average day, rain or any kind of fender bender make it a nightmare.
We are hopefully moving to VA in the next 9mo or so to make our commutes bearable and get that time back since once Maggie starts Kindergarten I have no idea how we would do it.
