Damik is in the hospital
I just wanted to let anyone who isn't FB friends with Damik know that she's in inpatient care for a while. It's been about a week now. I'm not sure yet how she is doing, but Ron said that she said it was okay to post here so everyone knows how she is doing. I will update you when I know more about how she's doing. But I know she'd definitely feel better knowing we're thinking about her.

I don't have any details other than that she is in the hospital. I know based on posts here that she'd been struggling with her depression again, but beyond that I have no idea (or if that was even related--I don't want to start any rumors).
I'm sure you aren't trying to be offensive with this comment because I like to assume the good in people. Maybe you thought it would be a good abbreviated version of mental hospital or something else, but your "cuckoo hospital" comment is inappropriate.
This coming from someone that has watched Damik struggle for about 3-4 years now, It's truly difficult to deal with mental disorders/depression.
Cool your jets kiddo, I've been in the cuckoo hospital myself. Not that you should assume the good in me, that would be risky.
I am sorry she's having troubles. Is it depression alone or is she dealing with other mental disorders?
When I lost my nut I was 20 or 21... but they put me in the kids' ward instead of the adult ward because they thought being around a lot of suicidal adults would depress me more. One day you're suicidal and the next day you're playing dodgeball. It was very surreal. But I think they were right in the end... although I might have taken it all more seriously with the grown ups. I totally freaked out when they took all my sharps, not because I was plotting anything but for some reason that really hit home that I was handing myself over to someone else's control.

Damik has been in and out of mental health care for years and years.
She is dealing with a host of crap other than depression.
I know she's been open with it on here but it feels wrong to repeat it when she's not around.

I always take the stance that it's not my business to repeat. If she's spoken openly about it in the past (which she has on here) so be it, but it's her business to share. Hence, why I won't repeat what she has gone through.
Laptop, I don't mean to be abrupt or rude, I just care a lot about people and their well being (on and off TIP). You can never be too careful when it comes to talking about mental health.
Oh, that is sad. Sorry if I upset anyone. I don't expect you to talk about her in her absence, that would be untoward. Just curious.

I have a very soft spot for Damik and have done what I can to be there for her over the years (which doesn't feel like much/enough).
I get defensive of my TIP lovies! Apparently Peanut does too!

I always get gut feelings, and I resurface on TIP after random check ins. Just so happens that most times when I do the random check ins, something horrible has happened. It's really so sad that so many TIPers have suffered so much.
I thought the last thing I read from Damik was that she got the teaching position? I really hope this doesn't jeopardize her desires for a career path. I know she had concerns about her health in regards to that. I also hope she's really okay and doing better with the care.
I'll keep her in my thoughts most certainly.
Please tell her I said hi and I hope she gets on a great path to feeling better. I read her book and really like it, even in all it's darkness, etc. I've been looking for her on here to chat with her about it, and sent her an e-mail but she didn't respond. I don't know her that well so I didn't want to do a big HEY DAMIK post either.
Please tell her I said that when the darkness swallows you whole, take some comfort knowing that when the light comes, it will blind in it's brilliance.
I'll be thinking of her.
