Poll. (just for fun)

Where is the biggest or most severe scar that you currently have on your body, and what is it from (if you don't mind sharing)?

Re: Poll. (just for fun)

  • c-section, but you can barely see it

  • I am pretty boring - my worst is probably one about the size of a dime on my elbow that I got from losing control of my mountain bike on gravel in college (just riding to class) and thus using my elbow as a pivot point when I landed.  (ouch!).  I really can't believe it's still there b/c it was over 10 years ago, and it didn't seem that bad at the time, but I guess it did shave off quite a bit of skin.

It's crazy (and lucky!) that is my most "exciting" scar, considering I have been in at least 10 car wrecks (both as a passenger and driver), one of which the car rolled over!

  • I have two separate c-section scars, but those aren't exactly visible or interesting!

The most interesting one is on my forehead. It's from when I did the glucose tolerance test with my first son. It had been about 45 minutes, and I started feeling funny. I went to the bathroom (alone) and realized I was going to pass out. I walked to the door to alert someone that I was going to pass out. Instead of sitting down and waving someone over, I tried to walk to a nurse. I passed out as I was walking and hit my head on a metal door frame - and then my belly on the floor. The nurse thought I might've had a seizure because of what my eyes did, so that day I got stitches, saw a neurologist, and went to the hospital for a non-stress test on the baby. Thankfully someone thought to draw my blood after an hour was up from drinking the drink (even though I was lying flat on the floor with my head bleeding), so I didn't have to repeat the test. And I passed!

For my next baby, I ate a certain number of a certain kind of jelly beans instead of drinking the sugary drink. And my husband didn't let me so much as take a step without him holding my elbow.

  • C-section.

Otherwise, a small one on my left thumb from folding my skin in the stroller (ouch). It is not big or noticeable at all, but it is the only other scar that comes to mind.

  • Biggest = c/section

Most noticable = 4 on my chest/neck from shingles because I could not stop scratching.

  • 2 on my face from a dog bite when i was three. they're not noticeable unless i point it out.
  • On my knee, from running through a closed sliding glass door when I was 8.  It was my sister's birthday and we were suppose to go to Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor, I was running in the house to get her.  I never saw the door.  We went to the ER and then Jack in the Box instead of Farrell's.  It's a pretty big scar.

  • Nothing exciting.  I have a 1/2 inch scar on my left thumb from closing it in the dishwasher when I was 8.  And it's not really noticeable anyhow.

  • do stretch marks count? because i have a topgraphical map of the himalayas from my boobs to my mid thighs.  dh calls them my motherhood battlescars.  if they dont count i think the dime sized scar on my shoulder from a questionable mole removal is my biggest scar.

  • I have 4 that are all about 6" long.

    C/S scar

Two on my right forearm - broke both of the bones there and they had to go in and set it with plates.

One on my right hip - fell off of a horse and broke my femur, had to have screws put in the leg...and then removed 2 years later.

  • on my right foot. i have 3 - the smaller ones are about 1.5" each. the biggest one is on top of my foot and is about 4".

i had to have a bunion removed and reconstructive surgery to repair the damage from it about 12 years ago.

  • c-section is biggest, but not visible.

most noticeable is the 6 inch scar on my left forearm from surgery to repair a break 13 years ago.

  • C-section, but it is quickly fading.

  • My largest scars are from surgery, including a c-section.

My more interesting  scars include a long one across my right cheek from a car accident when I was in preschool. Then there's a good scar along my hairline that's also numb from when I went flying off a seesaw as a teenager and was knocked unconscious. And finally, several facial scars from when I was biking on campus in grad school, hit a bump and went flying over the handlebars, face-first onto the pavement. Knocked out cold, scraped up by paramedics. Bit thru my lip, and had a nasty gash on the forehead that got a bunch of stitches. Best part of that was I ended up dating the neurosurgeon who did my consult. :)

Oh! Almost forgot my most recent addition, and inch-long scar on my finger from when I put my hand thru a window a few months ago.

You're right, that was fun re-counting. LoL

  • It's faint now but I have a scar in the shape of michigan on my inner right calf, you can see it better if I tan. When I was in third grade I was watching Parent Trap III and leaned in to turn up the volume knob on the tv (pre remote days). I had a mini chicken pot pie right out of the oven on my lap. It flipped and landed on my leg. It was a third degree burn and I had marks in my hand from gripping the fork and not letting go while I screamed and my family and neighbors tried to help me. (my mom had got a neighbor who was a nurse) It was so gross. I kept it wrapped for a long time and it was filled up with liquid and a very thin layer of skin on top. Everyday on the playground kids would get me to unwrap it too look at it's icky-ness. I can still see it perfectly in my head.

Or the scar on my lower back. When I was a kid I was in a red wagon with my neighbor with his sister pulling us. He wanted to go faster so he shoved me out. It was a mess and bloody, his mom remembers it to this day. Years later when I needed a back brace they discovered my vertebrae in that area had "died." They were smushed together and no blood was flowing through them-highly probable it was from that accident. I wore a back brace from 6th grade up to high school.

  • I have a scar on my right leg from a surgery I had to remove a bone spur when I was a child. I did not stay off my leg and it made the scar much worse than it should have been.

I also have a small scar from a hernia surgery I had a few years ago.

  • On my wrist. When I was 4 I got on a treadmill at Sears and went flying off & my arm got stuck under the tread. Its barely noticable now.

Nothing like a trip to the ER on your HM!  We had to go, too, b/c of DH.  He was surfing and ran up on some reef and stuck his hand down to stop himself, but jammed it directly onto a sea urchin.  He had like a hundred spines in his hand. Luckily, it was not poisonous, and he just had to wait for them to work themselves out - but it's a funny? story to tell.  We were in Kauai and the doctor we saw at the ER was from Houston - what a small world!

  • Mine is a scar on my abdomen from an ovarian cyst removal. It's a vertical scar running from my belly button and down another 4 inches.

The most visible is on my knee. I was pushed down by a neighbor kid (Bad Kevin) for not giving him a bite of my popsicle.

  • C-section, and mine is NOT fading at all.  I keloid pretty bad though, so that sucks.

I have quite a few from mole removals and my right knee has about 15 from 2 surgeries.

I have one on my right thumb, right across the knuckle from when I worked at the deli counter at a grocery store in college.  I was cutting cheese on the big slicer, saw that the wrapper was going to get in the way and oh-so-smartly reached over to move it and....sliced all of the skin right off of my knuckle. It took years before I had full range of motion back due to the scar tissue being so tight.

Oh, and I have one through my rigt eyebrown courtesy of my brother and a Tonka truck when we were little.  Back when Tonka trucks were cast metal, not the ptastic stuff of today!  It is my reminder whenever my eyebrow gets all wonky.....

  • I have one on my shin from a college spring break incident Indifferent

I also have a tiny scar on my back from getting cleated in a HS soccer game

and a few from when I had chicken pox

  • Just my c-section scar.  Is it weird that I love it? :-)
  • I have a 6-7 inch scar running from behind my ankle to the middle of my foot, from my last foot surgery.  They actually removed the scar from the first surgery and then lengthened it.  When they finished, the scar is actually an inch shorter than it would have been.  They gave me a footlift I guess.

I also have a 3 inch scar under bra line, from the surgery to place my spinal cord stimulator.  It came with a matching 2 inch scar on my right butt cheek.

My most unusual is a faint 3 inch scar on my left butt cheek.  I was nicked by the surgeon when I was born, via emergency c-section.  I also had a small nick on my left ankle, but that one faded.

  • I have several on my knees and elbows due to falling off my bike as a kid. They have faded a lot but some you can still see if you look hard enough.

When we first moved to Texas we lived on an apartment while our house was being built. I was young maybe 3 or 4 and loved to run and slide across the kitchen floor in my slippers. One night I ran and slid right out the door that went to the patio. I cut my elbow open and had to have stiches.

I accidently stabbed myself in the arm about 10 yrs ago and had to have stiches. Trying to explain that to the ER doctor was not easy. He wanted to call the cops!

I have a few scars on my back and stomach from shingles. A few on my foot from a dog bite and one that happend over the summer from the shop vac. I pulled the vacuum and it rolled right on top of my foot. The sharp edging cut the top of my foot and I now have a scar.

Last year I had to have appendix surgery. I have a good size scar that starts at my belly button and goes up. Two more smaller ones that are lower.

  • I have a 3" horizontal scar on my lower right abdomen from having my appendix removed after it ruptured when I was 6. The scar was supposed to shrink as I got older - not so much. I remember feeling jealous the first time I met someone who had had a laparoscopic appendectomy through their belly button (so no scar) lol.

The only other noticeable scar is about an inch on my outer left thigh, just above my knee, from being cut by the steel tip of the exhaust pipe on the truck DH had when we were dating as I was loading something into the truck bed. That probably should have had stitches - but my little brother managed to convince me that I was a haus and needed no medical intervention lol.

Ouch! We where in Mexicao (Cabo) and I did it by flipping over a 4-wheeler on my leg. But I was not going to go to the ER in Mexico and I did not want to go home, it was our 2nd day there, so I limped it and wheel chaired it until we got home and went straight from the airport. It wasn't a bad break so thank goodness!

  • Other than mu c/s scar which you don't really notice, I have one on my foot and knee I probably should have had stitches for. I think I was in elementary school when Dr. Schols clogs were really popular....bare wood soles.Anyway, my mom and I were in the mountains. She used to cook for the hunting cabin one of the weekends I think for deer season. Anyway, The lane going to the cabin was gravel. For some reason I was outside and decided to take off running and bit it real hard ripping open my one knee & the top of my foot That was fun trying to get all the dirt and tiny stones out of the cuts.

I've had a couple surgeries where they went into my belly button and the skin is red and brown in there. It always makes me think my belly button is really dirty when I catch a glance of it in the mirror. It's not pretty.
