Re: Poll. (just for fun)

  • A small round scar on my right knee. Hot glue-gun injury from helping little sister with a school project years ago.

  • C-section.  Also can't really see it.
  • one above my knee. The corner of a license plate went into it. It was sticking out and I walked along the front of the car (DH's) 11 or 13 stitches I think? That's about it besides my other two ;)

Thanks to a 7 foot long pit viper in Costa Rica I have a scar that runs from my knee down the side of my left leg to just above my ankle but then widens out to cover the whole top of my foot.  I had a fasciotomy to save my leg and then later a flap and graft surgery to replace the muscle and skin over my foot that died from the venom and the bacterial infections that followed my bite. It's lovely.  LOL.  But I didn't lose my leg and I'm alive.

    Umm...I think you win!  lol

  • Aside from my c/s and myomectomy scars (which actually just look like one big scar), I have two scars above my left eye. One is above the brow, and it happened when I was a toddler. It is supposedly from a fan blade, although I don't see how that is possible. The other is right below my eyebrow. When i was 8, my cousin threw a wooden toy boatin the air and it gashed my eye open when it came down.

It's funny because most days I don't even think about it ... it is a B!tch to have to shave my leg (the contour of my leg is a little wonky), but having the scar doesn't bother me other than that.  I came out of lurkerdom to post because reading your question made me actually think about my scar and that is rare. This all happened in December of 1997 so I have been living with it a long time already.

  • I really dont have many noticeable scars and the ones I do are from burns.  I have a problem with getting burned i guess.

I have one that has the most vivid memory... and its actually a good memory

Our neighbors were like "second" grandparents to us.  The lady was really my mom's best friend.  One day she had me over to help her make peanut brittle.  We were pouring the hot mixture into the pan when i stuck my hand in the wrong place and she poured it right on me.  I flung my hand fast and most came off but about a 1 inch long strip had stuck to my right ring finger.  We had to peel it off, ouch.

As I've gotten older, its gotten less noticeable but you can see it if you look.  I say its a good memory because the lady I was with died of cancer way to early several years later.  I look at that scar and think of her.

  • The marks on my leg from where I had to break my dog and the foster dog up last year.  The foster accidently caught my leg when I was breaking them up.  It was nasty but it is finally fading.

  • Well aside from the assortment of Endo scars (there are 5 in total) I have a large scar on the inside of my arm near my elbow.  It's 2" long and a 1/4" thick from running through the house when I was 17.  I went to close the back door and my arm went straight through the window.  I cut up my wrist too, but that scar is barely visible.  You know as a kid my mom always said not to run through the house, I wish she was yelling that to me when I was playing around at 17.  :)  That was my first experience with stitches.

I played rough as a kid, I have a chunk missing off of the ball of my foot from accidentally sticking my foot in the spokes of a bicycle.  Moral of that story don't ride bare foot.

  • 6" scar on the outside of my left leg. From surgery to put in a metal plate and 11 pins after I broke my leg/ankle in a 3 legged race. I was 29.  There's a smaller one on the inside of my ankle bone where they put in 2 screws.

A more interesting one is a little dent I have on my forehead. I ran into the corner of a door when I was 2. It never bled. It doesn't feel like the bone is dented, just the skin. It's very odd, but not super noticeable.

  • I'm pretty clumsy. I have lots of little scars all over my shins from random accidents. The biggest is a triangle-shaped scar just below my knee where I fell on the stairs.

The scar I notice all the time is on my left index finger, a diagonal line from the top knuckle up to the fingernail. I was cutting fabric with a rotary cutter and went too fast-my left hand was steadying the fabric and it got in the way. Luckily that was during my fake nail phase (10-12 years ago) so it didn't cut the whole tip of my finger off. It sliced right through the acrylic nail overlay but only left a little line on my actual nail. There was a flap of skin that lifted up on the side of my finger, it was pretty gross. I still don't have any feeling there.
