S/O Another pole: What makeup will you not leave the house without?

For me, it's mascara. I feel naked without it.

Re: S/O Another pole: What makeup will you not leave the house without?

  • I wear makeup most days but I have no trouble leaving the house without it.

However, if I only put on one thing, I'll put on a pale-plum or nude-colored lipstick.

If I only put on two things, I put on the lipstick and some mascara.

  • I will go to the grocery store or run an errand without make-up.  I feel like a shlump though.

To feel somewhat put together I need at least tinted moisturizer, blush, mascara and lip balm of some kind.

I wear foundation, eye shadow/liner and lipgloss in addition to the above on a daily basis for work.  I would never go without make-up or in my minimal routine in the paragraph above for work.

  • I have been known to traipse about sans makeup, but I don't like it.

On a typical day, I only wear powder, bronzer, eyeliner, mascara, and shadow anyway. It takes like five minutes and I look a million times better, so usually I just do it.

  • I'm not sure why (because I have really long/thick lashes naturally), but it's mascara.

  • I wear makeup pretty much all the time, but I do leave the house without it fairly often.  I feel like I look like an emabarrased 12 year old without makeup.

My daily routine is: foundation, concealer, powder (to set), blush, mascara, and either a tinted lip balm or a moisturizing lipstick.  On days I want to put in more effort, I'll add one or two eye shadows and plum eyeliner.

  • I wear lip balm all the time, if that counts.  But I don't wear anything else on a daily basis.  Maybe this is easier when you have very dark hair?  Because I don't think makeup makes more than a small difference on me; perhaps it makes more of a difference on people whose eyelashes and brows are closer to their skin color.

  • Kuus, you may be right.  Your lashes are darker than someone with fair hair, for sure.

For me it's discolorations that cause me to feel like I need to wear makeup to be presentable.  Red cheeks & chin & purple under my eyes (dark circles).  If not for those discolorations, I think just mascara would be what I'd need, since I have blonde lashes.

  • I think people with yellowy olive skin have less of the redness, too.
    image
  • Probably.  I also think the fairer someone is, the more likely redness will show.  When I'm tan the redness isn't as bad (golden undertones).

  • Mascara. I look tired without it, I think.

  • - Foundation. My skin is teenager-level oily. It needs to be tamed.

    - Mascara. I look dead without it.

    - Chapstick. My lips are always feeling dry.

... really, that's all I HAVE to have on. I look dead without blush too but will run errands without it on a Saturday morning. For daily makeup I usually wear foundation, tinted eyelid primer, a little bit of brown eyeshadow in the crease, mascara, blush/bronzer.

  • The most I wear on any typical day is eyeliner, mascara and eyeshadow. I'll leave the house wearing nothing to go to the store but I feel gross haha. My lazy look is mascara and eyeshadow without the eyeliner.

I am a chapstick hore, but I don't consider that makeup. I love the ones that make my lips tingly. Ahhhh... Burt's Bees, don't ever leave me.

  • Days off- no makeup
Days in the office (no constituents) mascara, eye shadow, lip gloss
Days meeting with constituents and/or date night- foundation/concealer, mascara, eye shadow, lipstick, lip gloss and rouge.

That tingle feels sooo good, lol! I also really like the Neutrogena Replenishing Lip Balm. It feels like chapstick but has a little color. Usually "tinted lip balm" = Interro gets blackheads around her lips (GROSS I know) but this stuff is good.

  • On a normal day, I wear foundation, concealer, eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, and sometimes a little highlighter.

I always thought I was the only non-teenager with greasy skin and blackheads around the lips.

If you like tingly, you should try Buxom lipgloss...awesome and addictive.

At least we won't get many wrinkles? Or so I'm told.

Well, I'm 32 and frequently get mistaken for an undergrad, so yeah, it probably does keep the skin looking young.

  • Ummm

I don't do the whole make up thing often. I don't even use it at work. I just don't care enough.
