Whatever Friday

Oh my, work has been insane.  I have been here 12 hours most days this week and came in at 5am today just to get some stuff done while its nice and quiet.  I hate going into the weekend with projects looming over my head that I have to get done so I am almost caught up and can hopefully enjoy my weekend.

Tiffany- Thanks for tipping me off on the bootcamp, I am about 85% sure I want to do it, my only hold up is that its so late (for me). I normally go to bed around 9ish and sometimes before, but I think I can make it work for a month.

What is everyone else up to?

Re: Whatever Friday

  • I am so excited about bootcamp and happy that you guys wanted to do it too!

BL- I'm sorry about your work.  Hopefully it will get better!

I'm jealous because DH gets a half day today....he has to go home and wait for the satellite guy to come, but still!

I have my friend's bridal shower tomorrow and she is asking for books/games.  What are some good word games or something I could get?  I know they already have Scrabble.  I am just lost when it comes to this!

  • Bobbileigh - Yay!  I am so excited your going to join us!     If it helps at all, it says that once you attend your first camp, you can mix and match dates/times/locations.  So if 7 pm won't work out for you all the time, then you can attend the 5:30 AM too if you want to.
  • Bad things happen at schools that are not bully related and that's all I have to say about that topic.

I will only be paying attention to sports this weekend.

Scattergories (sp?) is awesome. I have some overtime so hopefully I can duck out early today, but I still have to work this weekend. But I have the Bush/Filter concert Sunday to look forward to at least. Oh and how about those Rangers!!?! :)
  • Ever since Chelsea started posting about her boot camp, I've been thinking about boot camp too! There have been a zillion Groupons, Livingsocial, etc deals for them near me lately -- I just haven't gone ahead and done it. I don't know when I'd find the time, but I realllllly need to do something. (Any of the other FW or near FW ladies thinking about it too?)

We're under contract on a house, and it's going really, really well. We're still in our option period for a few more days, but there are no signs we'll need to walk away. Now I just have to pick a contractor to do the work we want to do before we move in (most excitingly, we're going to rip up all the carpets and put in tile and wood-look laminate throughout the entire hose). And buy some furniture. We own a bed and 4 bookcases -- that's it. (We've been renting a furnished house for years).

  • I'm so excited y'all are going to do a boot camp. I really wish I was in the same area, so I could do one with you girls... but it'll be nice just to be able to talk about the experience together!

I got a text last night saying a good friend of mine's water had broken, and she was headed to the hospital. She wanted me to photograph the birth, but her doctor said only two people could be in the room, so she went with her mom and DH, which I totally understand. So now I'm just waiting impatiently for a text saying Baby Anna is here, and I can go to Cleburne to meet her!

Aaaand lastly, we shot Dot's Halloween pictures this morning. 18 Months is a hard age to shoot, I'm just sayin'. We'll take Jack's pictures tonight, and I'm SO excited about our costumes this year! :)

  • Marie, I've been looking at the ones in FW but the timing is bad for me. If you find one let me know I'll see if I can do it with you.

I hope the book club ladies don't mind but I'm going to have to miss the November book club since I have a baby shower planned at that exact time that day. Sorry!

I start classes at UTA offically Monday. I can't believe I'm going back to school and that my lab pack is $210. I forgot how expensive those things were. If classes go well this semester and I like it I guess I'll be back to my full time school/ full time student schedule again. Bye bye social life.

  • Hi ladies!  I'm finally home!  Until tomorrow when we go to Tulsa to visit family.  Yikes, it never ends with us.

Rangers game was so exciting!  I ALMOST postponed my flight to the redeye so I could watch it.  I decided not to, but I was able to connect to the internet on the plane and watch it through my slingbox!  That was the quickest 3 hour flight ever.   Luckily it was an intense game and not a "yell because I'm so excited" game, or I definitely would have been hooping and hollaring during the flight.

BL - good luck getting everything done today.  I hate feeling that behind on things b/c there is just no time to do it.  Also, if you are interested in doing the morning bootcamp, I wouldn't mind doing it early either if you want a buddy.

Deepthi - Have fun starting school again!

  • I'm back in the office today.  I worked from home yesterday because the a/c people had to come back... and of course it was working perfectly when they were there.  I didn't get much work done - okay, anything, really - I just sat on the couch with my work laptop on my lap and browsed Pintrest and watched Law & Order all stinkin day.  I feel like I sort of wasted the day, but I just didn't have the energy to do anything else.  I'm ready to be over this stupid cold!

Besides watching the games, what's everybody got planned for this weekend?

  • Marie, normally the groupon boot camps are too far from me so idk if it would ever work.  After my treatments and I'm feeling good, DH & I are going to use a month free pass to workout at the gym where we work.  So maybe that will jumpstart something and I can keep up with everyone that way... kinda sorta. :)

This weekend we are spending time with DH parents and brother. Should be kind of nice and relaxing.  I really wanted to go the TCU game though.  Oh well.  I definitely will be watching the RANGERS!!!

I really want to make some pumpkin muffins now to take this weekend!  :)

  • Yesterday flew by and I have a feeling today will drag on and on.

My wish list for birthday/holidays/Anniversary sucks according to DH (it does) so I need some ideas because he won't let our trip next month be my present.   I already have the Clarisonic on there but I'm just not feeling gift giving/receiving this year for some reason.  And usually at this point of the year, I already have something for DH or I know what I want to get him but I have neither right now.

  • Sarah: Catchphrase, Apples to Apples, Battle of the Sexes, or go old school with Uno.  We play a lot of board games.

Not much going on here.  I'm ready for the weekend.  Oh, I did spend all evening cleaning our house yesterday.  We are moving next month, so the property management company is going to start showing the place we are in now.  It's a little weird to know strangers are going to walk through our house.

  • I think I will go ahead and do the bootcamp for sure.  I did one back in Omaha that was ran by Marty who was a finalist on the biggest loser in its first few seasons and it was a blast.

I just found out we are taking one of my TM's out to Mua sushi for lunch so its a double win for me, recognize a tm who is rocking it and get sushi.  Ahi tower here I come.

I am almost done with this months books and I LOVE it.

  • Thanks for the game suggestions!

I agree!  Today is already dragging :-(

  • Hey girls - my boss decided to declare today a paid day off for everyone. Woo hoo! Like a good slacker I checked the agendas for my Friday morning classes and decided to make it a true day off. Randall is taking a half day and we are going to Texas de Brazil for lunch and then to see the Tornado Alley IMAX movie. I have wanted to see it forever but with only day time showings it's been impossible!

Sarah - I second Apples to Apples. I love that game! There are some cool expansion packs you can buy that you can play either with or without the original game if you think she might already have it. :)

Amanda and Marie - I have a crazy schedule during the week or I would be 100% in for bootcamp!

iPhone girls - supposedly with the new iPhone OS you can post on the boards without turning off JavaScript. So new iPhone girls should already be able to and old iPhone girls should be able to after you do the latest update.

  • Leslie, that sounds like a wonderful day off, I'm excited for you!

I'm leaving work early today, but it's not for funsies, it's because I have 1,000,000+1 things to do for my friend's birthday party tomorrow because I'm a loser and waited until the last minute. At least I'll have beautiful weather while I'm running around like a headless chicken!

  • Amanda - I fully support making the muffins.  They are amazing.

Deepthi - I know I sent you the recipe, but make sure and do the frosting drizzle - I forgot to send that!  Get a can of cream cheese frosting (the fluffy kind) and put it in a pan and melt it down (it happens fast and be sure to stir the whole time)... then drizzle it.  YUM!

BL - MUA SUSHI IS MY FAVORITE!!!  I am totally jealous.

  • YAY for the Rangers!!  I felt like I was going to have an anxiety attack watching that game!

I get to see my best friend from high school this weekend!  I'm so excited!! :)

Leslie - you lucky girl!  I always smell Texas de Brazil when I'm walking to my car after work....mmm....mmmmm!  Have fun and enjoy your day off!

Sarah - This isn't a board game, but Phase 10 is a card game that we love to play!

  • Yay for days off!

Brianna - I am so glad we work nearby and its out managers fave so we get to go about once a month.  I am also going to make those muffins!

Do any of you ladies do any fun things at your work when morale gets low?  I am trying to come up with some things to do and drawing a blank.

  • I made pumpkin muffins last night and brought them to work.  They are gone.  Everyone loved them!  Thanks for the recipe Brianna!

We are going to San Antonio tomorrow after DH gets done teaching.  We are only going for the night and are trying to get there asap so we don't have to miss much of the game.

I'm interested as well.  With our pay cut, morale is really low right now.  Our Chief Justice did a pet photo contest (which mine won ;) of course), last week we got to wear jeans all week if we wore our Rangers gear, and we are having a Halloween party tomorrow.  That's about it.  : /

  • Morning!!

Games -- We really enjoy Cranium and Catch Phrase. SUPER fun to play with a small group.

I am GOING TO THE RANGERS GAME TOMORROW!!!!! WOO-HOO!!! Sooo excited. It will be my first Rangers game AND my first World Series - so Double WOO-HOO!!! Now let's just hope it doesn't rain.

So yeah, we're not going out of town this weekend anymore :0)

  • Jeans & very casual clothes - like Rangers t-shirts - always help my morale.  Also, a little time off - whether it's getting to leave work 30 minutes early, or come in a little late, or something like that, helps too.

We're also having a Fall Festival in a few weeks.  There are going to be some interdepartmental competitions in Office Olympics (minute-to-win-it style games) and Synchronized Chair Dancing.  It should have everyone perked up!

I used Diet Dr Pepper.  The muffins seriously lasted about 30 min before they were gone.  One of the guys I work with doesn't like sweets or muffins really and he ate 4 of them.  I've been asked to make more for halloween.

I'll do my best to share it with y'all after the fact... I may have to bring my mini-tripod to work and film it on my camera.  Not high quality, but good enough for some laughs.  My department is having a planning meeting next week but I'll be at jury duty... but I did sign up for the chair dancing.  My manager will probably choreograph the routine, and it should be hilarious.  She wants our boss, Stu, to be crouched down in the center and periodically rise up from the middle of everyone by himself.... that's the only part she's gotten down so far.  It should be hilarious.  Oh, and keep in mind, this is a competition... should be amazing :)
