Lets talk jeans....

So, I am in search of a pair of jeans that are flattering, non maternity and not a million dollars.  Big Smile

What are your favorite brands? and why.  I am in the process of updating my wardrobe from frumpy to...  well... not frumpy.

Re: Lets talk jeans....

  • I've never liked Old Navy jeans but I recently gave them another try and love the two pair I got.  I got one boot cut pair and one trouser.  The trousers are especially flattering and look really nice in the dark wash...and they were $19.50!!!!

  • I had been a "designer jean" girl for several years before having C.  After he was born and I lost so much weight, I went for Gap jeans because I didn't want to spend the money on designer because I was so scared I'd gain the weight back and have wasted my money.

I tried the Long and Lean and the Sexy Boot and end up liking the Sexy Boot best.

They do stretch out as you wear them but I've found this to be true of every jean I've ever owned.

  • I find it hard to get a good fit in jeans - I feel like I try on a million pair before I find the right one.  I have had a few pairs from Express (Eva, I think?) and I like those. I also have a BR pair  and some AT trouser jeans that I like. Otherwise, they are pretty random - just whatever I can find that fits well.  Seems like I always seem to pick up ones that are too tight right out of the dryer, but get too saggy in the butt to wear by day 2.
  • I really like NY&CO and J.Crew.

The J.Crew can be expensive but I always buy them on sale and when they are having their "extra 30% off sale items" promotion.

  • I usually go with Lucky (several different styles) or Gap Long and Lean. I wear jeans every day to work but don't want to spend $$$$$ on jeans.

  • Can you update mine too?

I like my jeans from Lucky, but I'm going to look for new ones this weekend.  I have no idea what I'm looking for.

I know I don't like the LOFT ones because they don't fit me well.  I've liked some from The Limited before. I also found a cute pair at American Eagle that I liked...except they were 4inches too short...

  • I've found recently that I like the White House Black Market jeans.  They have a couple of cuts that are better for curvy gals (a trouser and the "blanc" cuts usually work best on me).  If you get their emails, they'll send good coupons.  You can also catch their jeans on the clearance rack sometimes.

  • i'm all over the map on favorite jeans. i just have to try them on....my go to's right now are my gap long and leans from 10 yrs ago (not the current style - they have too much stretch), gap 1969 boot cut, 7's (don't remember the style), AG (don't know the style), and BDG cigarettes.

  • I am totally in the same boat. I got sick of being frumpy mom..took me 15 months after DS was born to do something about it though.

I really like Gap Jeans, long and lean and boot or sexy boot cut. You can't beat the price and the quality is good too.

  • I'm still wearing maternity jeans from JOE!  ugh.
  • What's your body style?  If it's small(er) waist than your booty a.n.a. brand at JCP works great.

  • My absolute faves are Seven For All Mankind. I have 2 pairs and they're what I wear 99% of the time. They are expensive, but worth it. I have lucked out finding them at TJ Maxx for a good deal, and just have to pay to get them altered. I also have a super old pair from NY & Co. that I wear every once in a while. I really should retire them, as they are old and tattered, but they are just so comfy.

I bought a pair of jeggings at Target (Mossimo) last night and I actually love them! I ordered some boots too, so I can't wait for those to arrive so I can wear them :)

  • I recently got a pair of Denizen mid-rise bootcut at Target and I love them!  The brand is made by Levi's.

I also got a pair of Levi's 512 recently from Macy's and really like those as well.  I swear they take 5 lbs off of my a$$!

  • Another vote for Gap Long & Lean or Real Straight, depending on which fit you want. L&L are flared, which are good most of the time but Real Straight in slim, but not skinny, and great with heels.

All women deserve one great pair of jeans. If you want to try designer just to see, I've found that Joe's Jeans are the best butt givers, while 7s make my legs look thinner.

And for the love of god, DO NOT get anything with bedazzled pockets!

  • I just got some Daisy Fuentes jeans at Kohls that are cute and comfy.

    What boots did you order?

I'm going to say that I have a pair of L&L from Gap and I didn't like them.  They button somewhere about 2" south of my boobs, meaning when I sit down they are actually competing with the underwire of my bra.

I may go look for the other style mentioned, though.  I just hate going to Gap since there isn't one at Willowbrook.  Yes, I'm spoiled.

There is a Gap at Town & Country.  I  would rather go there than a mall anytime!

    Why?

Because if you're going to get yourself just one pair of solid, everyday jeans, bedazzled to the hilt pockets are a little impractical. Also, if you want something you can love and wear for years, those will be dated before you'll probably want to get rid of them.

  • I normally have issues finding jeans that fit right because I'm tall (average are to short and talls are way to long) and I'm wear a plus size (hopefully not for much longer). I recently went back to Old Navy to try on jeans and to my surprise I found a pair I love. They are the tall Sweet Heart jeans. They were inexpensive to which was a plus since I'm trying to loose weight.

I am the exact opposite of this - my waist has always been a problem area, and I have a flat butt. Everything that fits around the waist falls off (sometimes literally) because I don't have anything to hold it up.

    Any tips?

OK, well, as much as I hate to say this, I would recommend Chico's. My grandmother was **very** stylish. Very. She had the same problem. She carried her weight in her stomach (genetic, tyvm), flat butt. Chico's has a cut of jeans specific to that exact body type. Now, I won't lie and say they made her butt look great, but they fit around her broader waist, even with no hips/butt to keep them up. Worth checking out!

  • I'm another vote for the Long and Lean jeans.  I've been wearing them for about 10 years now.  If they ever stop making them, I think will cry!

f that.  i love my bedazled-pocket jeans and will wear them to your house one day just to taunt you!!!!

but really, i like my sparkly pocket jeans.  i'm a flashy beyotch.  it's not like i'm sporting a t-shirt angel wings on the back.

gap long & lean are great (which is surprising because while long, i am certainly not lean).  i have some old navy "sweetheart" style ones, but i dislike their shrink/grow qualities.

my bedazzled butt jeans are Kut brand. you can sometimes find them at marshall's, but i have had the best luck at dillard's and nordstrom.

But you clearly have more than 1 pair of jeans.

These, because I am cheap :) I tried them on in the store in black and really like them, but I wanted grey, so had to order from the site.

  • I bought a pair of DNKY jeans earlier this year because I was stuck in a small town for a week and needed another pair of jeans.  I hate the design on the back of the pockets, but I love the jeans.  I secretly wonder if they are like pajama jeans because they are so comfy and don't ever over-stretch to be baggy.  Go ahead...you can make fun of me for possibly owning pajama jeans.  =)

I do still have a pair of Gap Long & Lean that I love, and a pair of jeans from Banana Republic that are actually flattering on my wide arse.  I'd love to try on the trendy jeans, but I am too cheap to spend that much money on jeans.  I think all the pairs I own were less than $40/each.
