"People talk about escapism as if it's a bad thing... Once you've escaped, once you come back, the world is not the same as when you left it. You come back to it with skills, weapons, knowledge you didn't have before. Then you are better equipped to deal with your current reality."

DMoney will be a kickass big sister
It took me 3 mornings to cut the fabric (not the entire morning...maybe a few hours) and to sew, it took me an all-nighter (from about 8pm-2am!) plus a few hours the next afternoon. I was visiting my mom on Saturday so I had to finish by Friday night.
I think the most important thing is to cut the pattern pieces accurately. When I rushed the cutting on some of the pieces, I had trouble matching them up while sewing later. So really take the time to cut everything out as best as you can. I don't know why I was so inaccurate with some of the pieces...I guess I just rushed it.
There are also lots of pattern pieces and interfacing for almost all of the pieces. I would label them as you cut...I kept getting mixed up! And write out a list of everything you need to cut (unless you don't mind writing in your book) and check them off as you go.
My blog post (link above) has some links to other blogs that have made the bag. They have lots of advice that was really useful to me too.

If my mom didn't like the bag so much, I probably would not have made anything from this book either (for the same reason as you!).
