are used clothes for kids gross?
Re: are used clothes for kids gross?
I have an acquaintance that actually does prefer to put her kid in designer clothes...and she can afford it because she gets most of those designer clothes from hunting through the racks at consignment shops. And when my daughter was a baby, her cutest spring dresses came from consignment shops. I even got a Ralph Lauren dress with tags still on it for only $12. I also bought a cute, red double-breasted wool coat. Man, I loved that stuff.
And then I bought a ton of play clothes there for like .50 or $1.00, so they could get dirty and stained and it wasn't a big deal.
So obviously, my answer is no, it's not gross.
About 1/2 or more of Vesper's current wardrobe is hand-me-down or from consignment/Goodwill/St. Vinny's. I have accepted and purchased some slightly stained clothes. If there were some stains you didn't feel ok about, why not just get rid of those pieces of clothes? I wash the clothes, then put them on my child, then she adds new stains. New clothes have can have just as gross if not more disturbing thigns on them, it's just the psychological high of 'new' things.

snap!
Exactly.
Hahaha. My entire cloth diaper stash is used diapers that my sister sent me to start me off. I guess I have no problem whatsoever with used stuff!
This post is hilarious!
I don't think second hand is gross. I have bought a few items second hand and received a couple of hand me downs. I usually buy M's clothes off season, last winter during the sales I got him an 80 Euro winter coat for 12 Euros. In Canada this summer I bought him a ton of T-shirts for about 3 $ each all new!
Just curious about the "designer" baby/kids clothes. What designers are you guys buying for your kids?
Personally I'm baffled when I see babies or toddlers in Baby Dior, Burberry, Paul Smith etc... They end up stained and don't get much use, I just don't get spending hundreds of Euros on one outfit for a kid.
The post has turned annoying. It was funny at first and I think I got where Tot was coming from but now it seems people are judging the way other people spend money. If you can afford designer baby clothes then who cares?
And the PP saying tot is making fun of her for being poor is hilariously ridiculous.
