Friday QOTD (first dates)
Re: Friday QOTD (first dates)
our first date was at Xando (now Cosi) on Capitol Hill.
i remember running home from work to change and then sprinting there to be one time. we had an outside table. We agree to meet for drinks (Xando was more a bar at night for cosi)...that turned into dinner, and more drinks.
he brought me roses and picked up the $75 check ("just one drink right?") and was a true true gentlemen. First kiss was a few blocks away and we made plans to see each other again a few days later. i remember, like a movie scene, going back to my apartment and closing the door and leaning up against it thinking to myself....oh no, i am in trouble with this one.
Hmm we had several encounters to get things started! See we were friends that made-out for a good two months first!
First hang-out together: He got my phone number, in scanning electron microscope class, to set up getting tickets to the Gator football game. Then he called me that night (we were all new in town) and we hung out with some other classmates at a bar playing pool.
First time out just us..kind of...: We went to the football game and scalped tickets together. I was on my phone half the time talking to an ex...::shakes head::
Many make-out sessions later Our first official date: We went to Amelia's in Gainesville (an italian place), with reservations (that was important), and he asked if I would be his girlfriend. Aww...
We disagree about when our first date actually was. There was a time when we went to Fridays because I wanted to thank him for helping me get through my college auditions and a minor breakup. I didn't think of it as a date - just two people getting lunch. But apparently DH thought it was a date and he was incredibly nervous.
About a month later, we had dinner at Uno's and this time I was nervous because I thought it was our first date!! It was definitely more romantic than the lunch at Friday's, so I will always think that it was our first date! I don't care what DH thinks.
We drove out to Shenandoah to do some hiking, then came back and went to dinner at Olive Garden.
We'd already known each other almost a year and had just hung out on a choir tour for the previous 2 weeks. So, we knew each other enough to know it wouldn't be a total bust and find ourselves stranded out in the woods in a "when is it going to end?" moment.
