Re: Whatever Wednesday

  • The husband and I went and looked at a house yesterday. We love it :)

Taking FIL to look at it here in like an hour. He's a contractor. If everything goes well. We'll be putting a bid in! :)

I'm a sleepy Beaver. It's always creepy when you fall asleep on the train and wake up to someone staring at you! Gotta love Dallas mass transit.

  • I forgot how much I loved Gavin DeGraw until he was on KKITM this morning. Hey-Zeus Cristo that boy makes me a little weak in the knees.

  • Gavin Degraw was good!  Also, I find the whole Justin Bieber thing to be hilarious. I know that's mean :-P

This has been the longest week!  I am so ready for the weekend. Especially since we are going to the SMU homecoming game!

Also, I am excited that I will have one of my credit cards completely paid off within the next month. It was a small one, but I'm still excited!

Good luck on the house, Ashley!

I hope the weather holds until later this evening. Mack is replacing our porch today (by himself) and the contractor who's painting our house is supposed to come out to sign his bid. This stuff needs to get DONE!

  • Good luck with the house Ashley!

I heard Mark Davis on the radio this morning talking about someone who was arrested and his middle name was Wayne.  His next statement "Don't ever give your kid a middle name of Wayne."

I laughed out loud after our conversation earlier this week.

    YAY Sarah!

I'm officially wearing down I think. The doc said I would be tired and fatigued a lot.  I'm ready to get on thyroid meds to start feeling a little better.  I have no energy. :(

  • Good Luck on the house Ashley!

I think the JB thing is interesting. They way she describes how the action happened was a little hilarious.

I bought a can of "oops paint" a while back. It was perfectly for my little idea. It wasn't so perfect when I ran out of paint and had to get more. They had the hardest time matching it. Even now it is a shade or two off. Now I have to repaint everything.

I extended the olive branch to my brother Monday. They are having a boy ( Swayze no more) . We talked briefly but he said he would call me back. He never did.

:(  Sorry you have no energy and are even having to deal with this.

RE Dairy products: Have you looked into alternative forms of dairy milk, like almond, coconut, hemp, rice or soy milk?

  • Good luck with the house Ashlee!

I really should have done everyone a favor and stayed home today but I have a meeting.  I am a complete grump today and I hope I snap out of it soon otherwise I will end up snapping someone's neck.  Thankfully if I reach through the computer screen, there's not an actual human being anywhere near it so I am safe.

Ok ladies, hypothetically speaking... if your going for an interview with a casual dress corporation (like, jeans) and the recruiter specifically says that "business casual" is appropriate for interviews.   What would you wear?

I dress business casual every day, but I still don't think that is quite 'dressed enough' for an interview.

  • DH is off today, so we're staying in our p.js all day. We made breakfast together this morning which never happens. So its been a good start to the day. :) I asked DH if he would want to take a couples cooking class sometimes soon, and hes all for it.

Regarding the Justin Beiber thing- Shes only trying to get money out of him. She probably thinks that if she keeps talking, he will pay her to stop. The whole thing is  a mess.

  • Tiffany, I used to work for the state in training HR people and recruiters. I can almost guarantee that it's better to be slightly over dressed than under-dressed. I'd wear slacks and a nice shirt. No need for a full suit or a skirt. (for a man, this would be slacks and a polo shirt, as opposed to a shirt & tie or jacket.) HTH

I disagree.  If there weren't some sort of truth behind the story then his people would be the ones pressing charges against her for defamation.

ETA:  Thanks Chelsea.  I was thinking that a dressier version of my every day would probably work.

  • Tiffany- I agree with Chelsea.  I would wear either a black skirt or pair of pants with a nice botton down top or other nice looking top.

I was told business casual for my current job and wore a black pencil skirt with a purple undershirt and black cardigan over it.  This might be considered too casual for some people but I have to have a pop of color and I HATE button downs and pants.

It's my favorite too. Randall says it is still taking the Lord's name in vain no matter how funny I think it is but like most things he says, he is incorrect and I am right. Big Smile

Tiffany - I concur. Much better over-dressed than under-dressed. Good luck hypothetically speaking.

Does anyone watch the Little Couple? I want to talk about it but I also don't want to be a spoiler. I was so excited for them I actually watched the episode last night with commercials. Couldn't even wait for the DVR.

DH is OOT working and yesterday I made a chocolate cake and ate three pieces instead of dinner. This morning I weigh less than I have all week. Coincidence? I think not.

    Suit up!

I've always heard to dress for the position you want to end up with, yet I've never actually taken that advice myself.

This is what I would normally do, however in this case it is specifically stated to dress business casual.   I think if I suit up I may be viewed as 'trying too hard'  or 'unable to follow directions'.    It is a senior level position that I'm hypothetically interviewing for.  :)

  • Jaymi - Thank you.  :)  I think I can have almond milk and one other type that I read on a website. I can't have anything that has rice/soy in it.  I'd just have to double check the salt content. :)  Fun fun. :)

Michelle - I hope to start my treatment sometime next week.  I'm still waiting to on my official date.  The day after I'm done with the treatment, I can start my thyroid meds!

I missed the original airing of the episodes but DVR'd what I think they were at a later time so I have not watched them yet.  But I did read the thread on the 'Entertainment' board so I've already been semi-spoiled.  That's all I will say...

In case you are unaware - the dark chocolate almond milk in the fridge section is the bomb. :)

I hope treatment is quick and easy for you and that the meds get everything regulated.

    This x 1000

I have been steeping a peppermint teabag in my coffee in the morning then adding the dark choc almond milk and having a homemade peppermint mocha.

I think what Chelsea and Bobbileigh suggested would be great.  I usually do black slacks and a colorful shirt but I don't actually own a suit.

  • Tiffany - I would wear exactly what BL said.  Pencil skirt or dress pants, button up with a cardigan over it.

Amanda - I am lactose intolerant and I drink Lactaid.  It's pretty good.  I hope you start to feel better soon.

Regarding Beiber, when was this supposed to take place?  When he was 17?  She's 20... is that not illegal?

Yep because he was a minor.

  • I don't understand how the whole JB thing can be untrue--I mean, she has the ultimate evidence doesn't she?  Would she really claim he's the father when a simple DNA test would make her look like a complete looney-loon?

Tiffany, I think what BL described is the perfect business casual outfit.  Good luck on the interview!

Good luck Ashlee with the house!

  • Ashley - Good luck!

Manda - I'm sorry you're going through all this - hang in there, dear!

Tiffany - Maybe if you hypothetically went to the dressier side of bus-cas, like a crisp button down with slacks?  Basically, suit minus jacket?

Leslie - I love that you had cake for dinner!

I don't know anything about what's going on with the Beebs.  I am working from home today, and I slept in - it was glorious, until I woke up with severe cramps.  I hate Mother Nature sometimes.  I get to have lunch with my old coworkers today, and I'm really excited!  I really miss them... but I am getting friendlier with my new coworkers (FINALLY) so that's nice.  But, it's still not the same!

Also, I had someone clean my house yesterday, and it was amazing to come home to a clean house.  I will be keeping this up, for sure!

  • Thanks Ladies!  I will let you know how it goes, hypothetically. :)
