Good morning, Thursday!

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday have been pretty awful for me.  So I'm going to make sure that turns around, starting today.

So tell me, what's good in your world?

Re: Good morning, Thursday!

  • We received a surprise check in the mail yesterday that more than covered a few bills that needed to be paid.

Those baybel cheese snack's are on sale at Family Fare 2 for $4 and I had a $1 off coupon. Those things are pricey so I got super excited.

I finished the last book in the Hungry Games series. I'm not sure if I liked the ending or not. I've moved on to the Steve Job Bio now.

  • Good morning!

What's good in my world?  Ah... my cats are getting along better.

I hope you have a better day today, Molly!

  • Yay for suprise checks, cheap cheese and friendly cats.  :)

That is great news about your cats!

Our new couch was delivered on Monday and it is my new favorite spot in the house. So much more comfortable and better looking than our old couch.  Still trying to figure out the best set-up for our living room furniture, though.

  • What's good in my world?

I start my research class tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to it.

I get to see my family on Sunday when Delaney is baptized (and I'm her Godmother).

A friend and I caught up last night, and she is going through a rough time.  When we were wrapping up, she told me she was feeling better than she had since Monday morning, as a result of our conversation.  I was so glad to be there for her.

And... Henry's feeling better this morning.  Yay!

  • I had a cup of Starbuck's Thanksgiving blend coffee yesterday and it was wonderful.  I think we'll go out today to get another cup.

Hahahahaha.  It's still too early for me, but I love it too.  I'll get mine out in 3 weeks.

So, I'm going to be the one who turns this "good stuff" thread a little.  Sorry.  I've been consoling myself with the change of season saying, snow doesn't come until mid-Nov. at the earliest.  And that's not far away anymore.  And I have no idea where the box of winter boots is.  But, some of you like snow, so I guess I'm not a total downer. ;)

I posted on FB last night, so this is a repeat for some.  Willa's new fish had babies last night.  We only found one, but that one is a pretty happy tiny fish.  I think it'll have friends soon.  We bought 2 new fish, and I'm certain they were both pregnant.

    Haha!

I think it was Monday night, I told H "Less than 4 weeks till we get to put up our tree!"  Party!!!

  • Talk of Christmas music and tree's just made me look around my living room and realize I don't have a space for it this year and that it may end up in the dining room. Is that ok. Must the tree be in the living room?

SS made coffee this AM and I have to admit it did smell good. I'm trying to save up for the Mr. Coffee that takes the K-cups as  a joint Christmas gift for each other since Mperks had a $10 off coupon that's good until Mid Dec.

  • Haha.  Yeah, I was cruising the Comcast Music Choice channels and was curious to know what the "Sounds of the Season's" had on right now...and it's Christmas music.  I couldn't bring myself to change it.  If Renee wasn't napping right now we'd probably be dancing around the house.

  • Speaking of Christmas music...  Imagine yourself at a Christmas pageant, and there are 25 sweet angels (4-6 years old)parading up church aisles.  What music is playing?

    I need ideas.

Of course it's ok to be in the dining room.  :)

Our living room IS our dining room... we have a big table that I got tired of working around in the small kitchen, so we moved it to the living room. It's right in front of the fireplace now. That room is pretty long, so there's still a small "sitting area" with a bookshelf on the other end of the room. We love it and have no problems finding a spot for our tree in there.

I had a majorly productive night of studying last night.  And yay that tomorrow is Friday!  Another week down.

  • I have just over 2 weeks left of maternity leave.  Sad

  • How in the world does one tell if a fish is pregnant?  Do pregnant fish have adorable little bellies?

I'm looking forward to Christmas decorating this year.  I think because I skipped fall decorating.

"When the Saints Go Marching In"

I have no idea.  Music is not my thing.  I had the worst time picking out music for both our wedding ceremony and reception.  I hated that part of wedding planning.

    Indifferent

Dear god, please no mid-November snow!!!

I'm in complete denial that there will ever be snow this year.

  • Mid-November snow is awfully rare around here, isn't it?  It's expected up north, but it seems like we don't usually get snow here that sticks until early January.

Have I told you guys before that my hometown more often than not has snow on the ground from Thanksgiving until Easter?  True story.  Now, I like snow.  But that's a bit much.

    Yes

    LOL.

This reminds me of my best memories with that song.  The weekend we were in New Orleans when the Saints won the NFC championship we went to a jazz brunch at a great restaurant on the morning of game day and the jazz band kept getting requests to play "When the Saints".  Such a great atmosphere (and an amazing brunch!  Best strawberry shortcake of my life that day).

In my head, the only snow we'll get this year will be confined to Dec 19-Jan 9, when I'm home on break with nowhere to go (and a husband to drive me anywhere I might want to go).

And Kasa, you made the right choice leaving your hometown Stick out tongue

I like snow and am looking forward to the first snowfall of the season, but snow at Easter would make me cry.

  • We might get flurries here in mid-Nov, but you're right, probably nothing sticking this month.

Jim has interest in moving to TC, but I think he'd be lonely from Nov-March when I'm living downstate. ;)

Wop, I was wondering about your leave.  How are you feeling about going back in 2 weeks?

Kasa, the kid of fish we got are livebearers (which means they don't lay eggs, and the babies come out alive and swimming).  I knew there was a good chance we'd be getting more than 2 with this kind.  They do have huge bellies before they birth.  In some fish, you can actually see fry eyes in mama's belly.  This is what Willa's fish looks like:

     image

and this is what the baby looks like:

It is teeny tiny.  Mom probably had a lot more (they can have 10 - 40+) but we didn't catch them in time.  And, alas, they eat their young.

It makes me a little sad, but I think I'm ready to go back.  I mostly worry about how Renee is going to handle not being with Mom for the first week.  I'm going back the week of Thanksgivng, so she'll only be going to daycare for 3 days to begin with.  We'll see how it goes.  Who knows, she might love it!  LOL.

  • Diana (and others) -- Um... I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news... but you have heard that they're predicting a long, hard winter this year, right?  I don't mean to worry you, I just want you to be mentally prepared for that possibility.

GRSP -- We've talked about moving to TC, too.  The longer winter is one of the main drawbacks for B (and a little bit for me too).  Snow on Easter is pretty depressing.  And thanks for the fish lessons!  I didn't know that some fish lay eggs and some fish have live babies.  Interesting.

I have never for a second regretted that decision.

I like visiting for brief periods of time, but that's it.  There is a long list of reasons I wouldn't ever be happy living there.  Heck, my own grandmother told me to move away!
