Pretty much.  I thought more people would be willing to let it all out but maybe I was wrong?  I got caught up with work, but believe you me, I will be back...

  • All right, b!tches... let's do this sh!t.  *rolls up sleeves*

To Jill, the lurkers, and everyone else too good to post -- get over yourselves.  I'm sorry if the board is "boring" you, or if you're afraid of the "Regulars."  Seriously... grow a pair and do something about it.  In the words of Harvey Danger, "you're bored if you're boring."  And not wanting to post out of fear of being flamed is the stupidest excuse I think I've ever heard to not get involved.  Say something, do something -- ANYTHING -- just don't sit there and complain about it!  And definitely don't come out and play only when we're doing something "fun" and then act like you're doing us a favor by gracing us with your presence.  I know we all got something to say... SAY IT.

To the new moms and moms-to-be -- I envy you and your board freedom.  You're able to come to the Niners and utilize the knowledge of those before you, freely, without fear of ostracization, and all you have to do is put a "BR" at the front of your posts.  Ames, Kelly, myself... we weren't allowed that.  In fact, we were more or less told our questions should be brought to those crazies over on TheBump rather than those we considered friends here.  I say all this because I just wanted you all to know that you will never be turned away, no question is silly or stupid, and that we are here for you, regardless of what we may be going through in our own indivdual lives.

  • I just got back to my desk but I plan to be here most of the afternoon... I will think of something.

  • I think everyone should have to be licensed to have kids like Mel will have to become licensed to adopt.  Way, way too many kids in the world (and some on the board) will grow up without stable homes and I think it is wrong.  I don't understand how selfish some people are to bring a helpless baby into an already questionable situation.

I also don't believe children should be had as an attemmt to salvage a failing relationship or a troubled marriage, because trust me, it will only lead to more problems.  Why do you think Chris and I are really waiting to have BabyBaby??  We've had enough problems since Samma ws born -- adding a second child on top of that before we've resolved the old stuff is only going to make things worse, and could in fact end us, and if I can control that from happening, I am going to.

  • @MB - I don't post because I typically have nothing to say. I don't have a baby, I don't cook, I don't own a home, etc. If I do have something to say or contribute, it typically just gets ignored or flamed. Not much incentive. I don't think I'm too good, and I'm not scared, I just don't think I fit in anymore.

  • I can't stand that dumb biotches like Kim Kardashian get the attention they do.  She is ridiculous.  They all are.  That wedding was a big scam from the beginning.  No one should have even watched it in the first place.  Everyone is all "omg, they'll get so much more money from the press of the divorce" blah blah, but only if you FREAKING WATCH the shows and buy the stupid magazines.  If no one gave a shiit, then they wouldn't get paid for crap like this.

And don't even get me started on the Jersey Shore fools....

Since when is it a matter of "fitting in" though?  You have other hobbies, right?  I know you do... there's plenty else that can be talked about, and if you wanna talk about it, go ahead!  The reason that there's so much baby talk is because its the ones with the babies who wanna talk.  I don't cook myself, and I own but dislike my house, and I don't have an eye for detail or fashion or anything... yet I'm still here.  Could that be because I can't let go?  Maybe.  But this board has been here for me through just about every major life experience.... you Niners are like a family to me, and call me silly, but I think that's why I would never think about fitting in -- we just kinda ARE.

  • I judge PG women who drink during their pregnancy. Even if it's "just a sip" or that single glass of wine or whatever that some studies say is fine. I judge regardless.

Sometimes I quilt, but not often. I read a lot, but very different genres than what the rest of the girls on the board read. (I know this from previous book posts and GoodReads.) I spend most of my time learning about investing for work, but I feel like since most of you know what company I work for, discussing investing would be questionable here. I don't have cable, so I never know what TV shows people are talking about.

I still love everybody, that's why I lurk. I just don't feel like I have anything worthwhile to contribute.

As much as I didn't care one way or the other (I don't feel a sip of anything during pregnancy is going to hurt) I couldn't do it! I wanted a small glass of champagne the night before I went into labor to celebrate and the smell made me sick.

Is it sad that I sat and spent 15 minutes last night looking at some stupid slideshow of celebrities and their short marriages. I will never get that 15 minutes back.

I'm with you. When I was in PA, we went to that wine festival, and there was a girl who was visibly pregnant who was tasting. A lot.

Stees, MB, and I had a debate over whether she was pregnant or just fat, but I'm pretty well convinced that she was at least 6 months pregnant.

  • On the Kim Kardashian note...

It makes me sick to know that it essentially cost them $138,000 A DAY to be married thanks to their attention wh0re of a wedding.

    Sick, I tell you. SICK.

  • ok, a LOT of people might have a problem with this (probably a very unpopular opinion), but here goes: I want to find some loophole in the ethical codes that would allow for temporary sterilization for those in the criminal justice system.  The women in and out of this facility who get knocked up (I usually don't use that phrase, but in this case, NONE of these women are like planning for a baby, so essentially, they are all accidentally getting knocked up) while transitioning out of prison or trying to kepe their assses out of prison is just ridiculous.

Even once you're on parole - there are bigger issues you need to worry about.  And the ods of you screwing up and those kids ending up in someone else's custody or in foster care is just too high.  It's a drain on the system, and it makes me angry seeing the sneeze and get pregnant while I have so many friends who are havnig trouble TTC.

You successfully kill your number?  You can have your baby-making privileges back.

This is also why I think that trying to take Title X funding away is ridiculous.  You want low income people to stop being baby-making factories?  Make birth control cheaper.  My job would be at least 50% easier if all of my ladies could be on the pill.

  • I would like to second the Creepy Lurkers callout. Just taaaaaalk. Who cares about what? The majority of us are smart, educated women. Let's show that in our discussions!

I also would like to cast judgment upon those (and I don't know if there's any on this board or not) who let their kid go Trick or Treating for the "experience", and then took away all their candy. Come ON. It's Halloween. Let the kid have a Snickers!

  • what flames me these days is people who dont appreciate the value of money. I have a very close friend who I nanny with and she frustrates the hell out of me. She bragged about being done with her Christmas shopping already and how she bought both her mothers (MIL and Mom) uggs for Christmas, her husband a 500 dollar gift plus expensive gifts for her whole family. It makes me SO angry. I work hard for my  money as does Mark and the last thing I need is someone reminding me we aren't doing as well as her and her husband. Makes me kind of angry. This is also the same friend who has received ALL of her baby things as hand me downs from someone who thought buying at Carters was too cheap and she hasnt even asked me if I could use some clothes. She actually told me the other day I need to buy Charlotte more clothes because she wears the same thing too often.

My boss does this. But I'm ok with it because she brings the candy to work and I reap the benefits.

I give this a Yes. Perhaps I have a different POV than most because I live in an area where there is a lot of poverty and a LOT of meth addicts, but I definitely think that some form of bc should be mandatory for women who are in treatment facilities.
