Re: Good morning, Thursday!
I was thinking that sounded early. Normally it doesn't really start till December or January (at least the sticking kind.)
That's a perfect week to go back! Good planning.
We were lucky in that with both kids, I had a harder time with transitioning to daycare than they did.
Just to put the cherry on top of my fish geekery, he's a 30 second youtube video of black molly babies being born (for anyone interested). At your desk warning: there's music.

Ummm...mid-November snow is pretty much exactly what Bill Steffen has forecast. And he is never wrong.
Oooh, let me scour my extensive collection! Would you like instrumental, or vocals? Something traditional, funky, rock anthem, celtic-sounding, etc.?
Bill has spoken so it will be true! ;o)
Our Chirstmas tree goes in our dinning room.
My good thought is that tomorrow is Friday. :-/
Blast him, I hate snow!
And this reminds me, I still don't have snow boots or a winter coat for T yet.
My boss is so ready to put up the Christmas tree in the office. He has Christmas music blaring in his office. Cant we wait for another 3 weeks??!!! I am taking a tree that we had to my friends house on Sat because she cannot afford to get one since they lost their house so I am doing that and brining the light and ornaments to her.
I was hoping you'd see that. So, probably something sweet and calm, and simple. We've always had live music, so it'll have to be easy for a musician (assorted instruments available to us) to pick up on. This means that "Little Martha" written by the Allman Brothers Band is out. Anyone want some nice background music?

Wait, so you basically want to pick a song/arrangement but have your instrumentalists play it live? That changes things a bit.
Weird!
In that case, my first pick is "Traditions of Christmas" by Mannheim Steamroller. It's lovely and not a standard Christmas tune that people will recognize. I actually wanted it to play in my wedding during the lighting of the candles and such, but we couldn't find the sheet music in time for our young instrumentalists to learn.
I'll look that one up. Thanks, Chymes.
I'm all for simple and easy for this, but there's a tradition of political and complicated, so...
GRSP's video of fish giving birth, set to music, reminded me of another video set to music. This one by Gaddafi. Did anyone else see The Daily Show where Condoleezza Rice described this?! Hiliarious, creepy, and weird.
Click here. Her quick description begins at the 50 second mark.
The album it's from is "A Fresh Aire Christmas," if that helps.
It would be so much easier to just push play on someone's iPod...but this one can very easily be done by live instruments.
Hello all.
Kasa, glad to hear about the kitties getting along! I was just thinking of them this morning.
All of GRSP talk of fish babies, made me remember my 1st fishies. I was in 6th grade. A few days after getting them they had babies! I remember seeing tons of little babies, I was so excited. But when I came back and they were gone, my dad had to tell me where they went. I was so upset that the mom could eat her babies. I don't think I looked at those fish the same way again. (I was an overly emotional kid)
SBJ slept through the night last night (2 nights in a row! Ya!) However, this mama didn't. He rolls over to his belly, but he doesn't turn his head to the side. He just keeps it there, face first in the mattress. Then I start to freak that he can't breathe and go in there and adjust his head, only for him to move it back.
Seriously though how can it be comfy to sleep with your face smooshed up on the mattress?
I wouldn't go so far as to say that they're getting along, but they are getting along better than they were previously. They're no where near back to where they used to be, but they have improved significantly since the worst of it. Zoey is still being terribly dominant at times, but Jinx has gained some confidence back and isn't as depressed about it as she used to be. And that makes me very happy. No Jinxy cuddles for me yet, though. (That still makes me sad.)
Great news that J is sleeping through the night! Sorry to hear that you're not though. I have no suggestions. I hope you get some relief soon though.
Yay J!! Boo for smoosh face.
I talked to my uncle last night. He said the doctor is optimistic.
He will take oral chemo for 90 days and also do radiation for the bone cancer (I think.) He mentioned something about an experimental drug that his own doctor created (? or helped create...or something.). I don't know if that is the oral chemo, or something else. The doctor also assured my uncle that he will keep his hair, which absolutely delighted him.
So pretty good news, overall!
That is
-worthy! Yay.

Great news, Molly!
Gah!!!
I did not know this! I don't want to be mentally prepared. I want to keep my delusions.
Ultimately, it probably doesn't matter much since I'll likely be coming back here on Sunday afternoons/evenings because of weather unpredictability + my hatred of driving in snowy conditions after dark especially + 9a.m. Monday class. On Fridays I'll finish class at noon, so will be able to get home before dark. Also, there should be less snow over here for my daily commutes, right?
Thanks. Now I've decided that I hate Bill Steffen.
You are all dream crushers today.
If I have to drive to any of my finals in snow, I'm going to be extremely pissed. And regretful that I didn't apply to University of Hawaii after all.
Sorry that you didn't get it.
I wonder about this two year commitment thing. And now I go into annoying 1L mode. Are you still an at-will employee? I wonder if this could be an implied contract that would be enforceable if they laid you off/terminated you before the two years was over. If it isn't enforceable on their end (i.e. they still can terminate you at any time), I don't think it's enforceable (legally) on your end either.
Tee hee, does this mean I'm getting there as far as being ready for the contracts exam?
