Re: Thursday FFC

  • Becky is there any way you can take the baby with you to the wedding?  You think o no biggie, we'll be good by 4 weeks.  Then 4 weeks rolls around and you see how teeny tiny your baby still is and how you really need LO essentially attached to you at all times.

I took Lucy to a wedding when she was a month old and she slept the entire time.  No one even really noticed that she was there with the exception of a drunk aunt who kept telling me she was going to take Lucy's head.... Confused whatever that means.

I'm kind of hoping the bride suggests that actually.  I don't want to just presume I can but if I can, I will.  I mean 4 weeks!  We have a wedding the week after that one but that's in Baltimore and I think I could either bring the babe or leave him/her with my mom for a few hours.

Okay so maybe all this whining boils down to another FFC:  i'm not sure how much I'm going to trust my child(ren) with MIL - she's very very nice and I like her a lot, but she is so high-strung and anxious that I think watching grandchildren will just not be good for her.....

  • Becky - ditto pretty such everyone else, it took us 20 months before DD went on her first overnight to our ILs.  And there's no way I'd leave DS (7 weeks) now with anyone without me there - he's got reflux, colicky, needs to be held for a long time before falling asleep.  I'd be worried the entire time (because as a mom, you think no one can take better care of your baby than you can - smile) and wouldn't be able to relax.  Hopefully your mom can come to the hotel and you can sneak off to check in on things or you can bring the baby with you to the wedding.

SK - Every time my DH tells me he's tired, I want to throat punch him!

  • It helped that I was in the wedding and it was one of my BFF's, but I was still kind of passive about it.  I should have just said, hey is it going to be an issue if I bring Lucy?  Instead I just kept saying how stressed I was and I didn't know what I'd do with Lucy and how I couldn't bring myself to be away from her.  Lots of that crap. It ended up being a non issue and my mom and sister came to the reception site and held the baby while I took pictures.

And I've told DH that I can't ever imagine feeling comfortable having anyone in his family watch Lucy.  I'm not afraid that they would harm her in any way, I just don't LIKE them and don't think they deserve that one on one time with her.

My FFC is that when I came into work yesterday (first day back *sob*) I saw there was a HUGE bowl of candy in the kitchen.  Good candy too.  I proceeded to take half the bowl and stock pile it away in my desk.  When I hear other people go in and say "wow where is all the candy?" I blame it on all our other coworkers.

  • O and another FFC.  Yesterday I did absolutely nothing at work.  I claimed I was "sorting through emails" but that took approximately 5 minutes since most of it was mailing lists and newsletter crap.  The rest of the day I played online.

    Welcome to my world.

As it happens, I'm WFH two days a week now and I'm suprisingly productive on those days. Good thing, bc my production the other days when Im actually AT work has taken a significant nosedive.
