How did you get your nest name? An old nestie helped come up with it when I wanted to change it. Jilly Willy the Penguin
What branch are you affiliated with? DH is AD AF. I going to try to do HPSP to get my Dr though, and then I will be in the AF as a psychologist
What kind of milk do you prefer? I used to be 2% only. Then I switched to skim, and to be totally honest, I dont notice the difference really. People talk about how gross it is, and I think its all in the mind
Do you like having your picture taken? Eh, sometimes.
How do you normally wear your hair? I go through phases. When I first started working, I did it down and straightened it every day. Then I got lazy and would put it up in a bun or pony every day. I need to not do this when I get my next job, it is not that flattering.
Do you wear slippers? What do they look like? I used to have pink fluffy ones. I can only find one since the move though.
What was your first pet's name? William was my first pet. Well, actually I had a beta fish for like a month in college that my room mate actually killed. I dont know what his name was, we did not have a good connection.
What's your favorite dessert? Tough one. I can say that molten lava cake from Chili's? is sooo yummy and soooo worth the calories.
What was your favorite part of your wedding (or if you're not married yet, anything in particular you are excited for?) I think my wedding was so so so much fun. I have not had so much fun at a wedding ever, and I am glad I can say that about my own wedding. I danced most the night with all my friends and family, the DJ was amazing.
Favorite guilty pleasure? The nest, duh! I get embarrassed sometimes talking about it, and H laughs at my internet friends. But really, I cant be too embarrassed since some of the people I've met on here have been friends through three different states!
Any random tidbit you'd like to share? I am not being as productive as I should be with my free time. But I dont think I have had this much free time since... well... maybe 2006 when I didnt have a job for a couple months after I graduated. I'm not quite sure what to do with it! lol

Had it from TK. And basically I just took my email at the time and dropped the domain. But it's partly initials and maiden name. Yeah, I was one of those people who never changed it.

Hmm... since funfetti is on my mind, we had a funfetti wedding cake!
How did you get your nest name? I was eating pumpkin bread and I'm completely uncreative.

What kind of milk do you prefer? I hate milk. I never drink it. I actually hate most forms of dairy. When I was a kid they thought my black-outs might be caused by lactose intolerance so they made me go a month or two without dairy to see if it would help. It didn't, but I never really liked dairy after that.
Do you like having your picture taken? No. I like to take pictures, but I'm terrible at it too.
How do you normally wear your hair? With a single bobby pin to keep my bangs out of my face. It's pixie-length.. but I'm growing it back out so it's in that weird phase.
Do you wear slippers? What do they look like? No. I never understood why anybody would.
What was your first pet's name? Triscuit. Hm. I really am bad at naming things after what I'm eating. Now that I think about it, I had an eel in college and K and I named him Bosco after the Bosco cheesesticks we loved from the student union. It's a good thing I only had to name one kid.
What's your favorite dessert? Strawberry cheesecake. Or molten lava cakes. Or these cupcakes from a local shop called Graceland Special with banana cake and peanut butter frosting. I like dessert. A lot. I usually eat it first at a restaurant.

Any random tidbit you'd like to share? My DD sat up on her own today! For about 1-3 minutes at a time! It was so amazing, but I HATE that Dh is missing all of these milestones. But I guess thats what video cameras are for!

How is this even a question?? hell yes, you should go to Hawaii! It's likely a once in a lifetime opportunity. Our time here is almost up and I could cry just thinking about leaving. It's been one of the most incredible experiences of my life.

How do you normally wear your hair? It's very short so I just let it dry naturally and then flat-iron the top layer.
Do you wear slippers? What do they look like? Yes. I've had many pairs, usually with character faces on them. The ones I have now were bought last year for tooling around the maternity ward after DS's birth. They are cable-knit on the outside and super fluffy on the inside. They're boot-like.

What was your favorite part of your wedding (or if you're not married yet, anything in particular you are excited for?) The limo ride from our ceremony to our reception. It was the first time DH and I were along together (well, except for the driver) as a married couple. We downed an entire bottle of champagne, looked at our rings, and soaked in everything that was happening.

It definitely is expensive, but we've found COLA to more than cover the additional expenses of living here. You just have to get over the initial sticker shock on the prices of things.
I've only heard people complain of island fever when they haven't actually gone out and experienced the island. We've been here over 2 1/2 years and have yet to see and do everything on the island. However, I think I've also avoided the trapped feeling by taking several trips per year back to the mainland to visit family or vacation.
We heard the same thing about the locals being unwelcoming, but really, they're generally unwelcoming to tourists, not the military. It sounds bad, but it is what it is. They are very protective of their island and community. As long as you respect that when you move here, you'll be fine.
My biggest piece of advice is don't live on post. It's very isolating and you don't truly get to experience island living. Plus Schofield and the area around it sucks.
