No weekend recap post yet?

Hey ladies, hope you all had a great weekend!  Tell us about it!

I got into Chicago on Friday night and DH, friends, and I ordered in sushi for dinner and just hung out.

Saturday we showed up for breakfast at Xoco about 15 mins. after they stop breakfast service (boo!) but they still served us empanadas, churros, and coffee.  Everything I've had there is excellent, but those churros...holy hell, they're a little bit of fried, sweet, crispy heaven!

Hung out with friends and baby the rest of the day, then dinner at Girl & the Goat.  It's sort of tapas style, where each dish is a little small and you share.  It was really good and the service was awesome.  My favorite dish was a wood oven-roasted pig face with sunny side up egg--I know it sounds weird but I promise it didn't look anything like a pig face and the egg was a simply perfect pairing with it.  So freakin' good.

Yesterday we were going to check out the Museum of Science and Industry but ended up having another lazy day just hanging out with the baby.  We had brunch at Lula Cafe and I had an incredible dish of pumpkin griddle cakes that had this slightly gritty texture (think corn bread-like), with a pumpkin sauce and chunks of caramelized pear.  Crap, now I wish I could have another one right now!

Dinner later that night was deep dish veggie pizza from Art of Pizza.  The whole weekend was so not good for the diet, but we had a great time catching up with our friends and my taste buds are happy Big Smile

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Oh, and the waiters at GATC wear these t-shirts with funny lines on the back like:

    Whatever floats your goat
    Ride the love goat
    Goat you
    Goats gone wild
Please don't feed the goats, but beer is fine

  • Damn you, Rock - I'm starving after reading your post!  Glad you had fun in Chicago Smile

I had a fun weekend.  On Friday I had dinner and drinks with my BFF at Brownstone in the South End.  Saturday DH and I went to Border Cafe in Harv. Sq. and then settled in at home for a movie night.  Yesterday was a glorious football day for me with the Jets winning and the Pats losing Smile.  Last night I went to see one of my favorite bands (Crooked Fingers) play at TT the Bear's.

Full and fun weekend but it went by way too quick!

  • Rock, your trip sounds great! And SCM, I love Border Cafe.

I am hesitant to even say(type) it... But we accepted an offer on the house last night. Inspection tomorrow. I'll be excited next Monday after we sign the P&S.

Congrats!!!  Fingers crossed that all goes smoothly from here :)

  • Sounds like foodie heaven, Rock!

    I don't even remember Friday.

Saturday I painted all.day.long. But it was worth it.

Yesterday was getting stuff done around the house mostly. It feels like it will never end. I want my regular life back.

As a bonus, DD and I went to our first tot time together and had a really nice time :)

  • Thanks, everyone! I'm cautiously optimistic... I'll feel better after tomorrow's home inspection.

DrL, where did you go to a tot time?

  • Good luck with the inspection, LadyE!  Fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly.

The weekend was too short. Again. Friday, my mom and I ran errands and went shopping. Then she went home after dinner, and I collapsed. Which lasted through Saturday. Yesterday, I met a group of friends for lunch on Beacon Hill, then walked over to Quincy Market to return some stuff at AT Loft and maybe start shopping. But it was crowded and annoying, so I pretty much just left.  I was going to try and pack for my Phoenix trip, since I leave Wednesday, but instead I read while my husband watch football and pouted about the Pats.

  • Congrats, LadyE! You must have been so excited and relieved! I hope everything goes well with the P&S and the rest of the process.

I have some news too. See siggy. Smile

DrL, where did you go to a tot time?

St Johns in Canton. They have one open to all every Monday morning. Plus the Stoughton Moms group is taking over the YMCA play space every Tuesday thru Nov, so I'm going to check them out and see if I want to join. Woot!

Congratulations!  I am so happy for you.  I know how frustrated this has been, so this was a great outcome.  Good luck with the inspection.  Fingers crossed it is smooth sailing from here on.

  • Oh and after two other replies, I had a nice weekend.

Friday- I went to happy hour with CWs, which was very nice and super cheap.  Too bad I am moving because that would be a great HH location.  Then I went to a good friend of mine's house for more cocktails.  I came home to a freezing house.  Temp set at 68 and it was 59.

Saturday- woke up and it was 56 degrees in the house.  Fortunately FIL works for the gas company was a repair man for years.  He came over and fixed it quickly, just a loose electrical connection.  I had to pick up my car in the am, then take the dog out for an hour while there was a showing.  After that, I went to lunch and shopping with SIL.  Saturday night I went to dinner at my best friend's house.

Sunday- did some packing in the am, then had a baby shower in the early afternoon.  Last night I went to Human Doug's house for dinner then came home and relaxed.

It was a crazy busy weekend and I am exhausted.  Tonight is my catch up night for laundry, packing, and tv shows.

Thanks!  While I would love for us to be next, I am just excited to live with my husband again and start our new life in the freezing tundra....I mean Worcester.

    Good luck and congrats LadyE!

Super congrats to the moms to be,  Mrs.C & Jen812.  Can you send a little baby dust my way Smile

We tried to do some car shopping on Saturday, but it wasn't very productive.  Then we went out to a local bar for their rescheduled Halloween bash.  It was fun!

Sunday was lazy, then dinner at DH's coworkers....he was really there to talk to them about some side work they want done, but dinner was yummy, and I got the recipe to try myself.  Driving home down 495 after the Pats game made me a little nervous.....mad, drunk Patriot fans driving home too.

Ha, thanks. We've got some work to do to make them baby ready. They're both still puppies & get excited very easily. I need to find some small children to practice with :)

    Thanks.

That section of 495 makes me nervous too. Between drunk pats fans, the Comcast center (or whatever it's called now) & the crazies Xmas shopping at the outlets ... Makes for a scary stretch of highway.
