Re: The Duggars
That's crazy! I'm suprised her uterus hasn't packed up and moved out yet.
To each their own.
People are doing far worse things in this world than making babies and giving them what seems to be a very loving, well-adjusted home in which to live...
Ditto.
Word. And props to them for doing it debt-free.
I am very happy for them. The issues that happened with her last pregnancy could have happened to anyone. They did happen to my mom, should she have not had my brother?
I get it's not everyone's dream life (it's certainly not my dream to have 20 kids), but I don't undertand why people are upset about this. They provide a loving home for their children. They are completely debt free & have never taken any government assitance. So why the animosity?
this, word for word, except insert sister for brother.
its not something i would choose for myself, but if it makes them happy, then why not?
I'm sorry, but I think it is odd. When your oldest child has 2 children of his own, maybe it is time to stop having more kids.
And I agree, I don't see how the kids could get much individual attention.
Kudos to them for being debt-free and not needing assistance to raise their (what is this 20th kid), but I'm sure having TV show helps with that.

18 cycles (3 with our RE) - Metformin + Clomid + HCG booster did the trick!

from what i have watched, it seems they were debt free prior to having the tv show.
i also don't understand the animosity. it really seems to be a loving home. even if the person dressing you in the morning isn't your mother, it's still a very loving family-centered environment.
she seems to be some sort of miracle uterus-woman, though. that's astonishing.

I'm not suprised... I wonder how many their son and DIL are going to have...
Not something I'd pick, but it's their family and their choice. I'm just suprised that they "plumbing" is still working.
I agree. Like you said it would not be my choice but their children all seem well adjusted and loved so I don't get why people get so bent out of shape. I was the oldest of 3 and that meant I helped raise my brother and sister since both my parents worked. All 3 of us turned out just fine.
I don't wonder this so much now that they have the older kids to help entertain the younger kids. But it does baffle me that they were able to fit in sexy-time for kids 4 - 12.
I hope DH & I are still that attracted to each other after another 20 years of marriage. I really admire them as a married couple.
100% agree.
agree with you jax.
good for them that they still have that "fire" for eachother. I'll be honest, I only have 2 kids and sometimes when DH gives me the look, I want to punch him in the face.
While I think it's a little cuckoo to have 20 kids, I do respect that it is their decision and appreciate that they take good care of their family and seem to have a loving home.
A friend of mine spent some time with them at their house (which she said is awesome). She said that Michelle really is the most calm, sweet person. She recognized that the older ones really do carry a lot of the burden but said they all seem like happy kids.
I find them odd, and am flat out amazed by her uterus and the fact that she's still making eggs. But whatever, her body, her family her choice.
I have a cousin in that part of Arkansas who's due in April, maybe she'll run into Michelle in L&D. LOL
I don't think it is animosity as much as it is the inability to image that lifestyle. At least that is what it is for me. I don't wish them any ill will, but I can't imagine having that life. But then again, I have trouble with working full time and dealing with a toddler who is going through a hitting phase.
And since having 20 kids isn't a social norm, I think it gets a lot of attention. Kind of like the Sister Wives.
None of these people impact my daily life, and I don't actually care what they choose to do, but I can't imagine that life either.

A friend posted this on FB and this was one of the responses.
"I agree with you S****. If they can afford a large herd of kids more power to them! I think the Duggers' are doing more than their part to lessen our minority."
HA! I agree though. Poor DH.
I've seen their show occasionally and they seem like really nice people. And their kids seem well adjusted and happy. While it's not a life that I would choose (ok the huge house and being debt free would be pretty alright), it's what they feel is right for them, so who am I to say it's wrong?
What I really want to know is how does she have that many kids and not lose her shyt?? Because I only have two, one is only recently mobile and doesn't even talk, and some days I just want to lock myself in my closet and not come out.
wow
could they have meant they're in the minority big family wise? I hope?
Unfortunately, no.
So Tasty, So Yummy
Love the Duggars, love the fact that they walk the walk, love that I haven't read about any of their kids on Perez Hilton (read about them for bad reasons, that is.)
I strongly disagree with aspects of their discipline style however and many of the Quiverfull principles that they follow.
I do wish that there was a Duggars: Behind The Scenes on TLC that showed a lot of the uncensored footage, especially of the toddler set.
