election day polle

Did you vote today? Are there any important elections in your area?

Re: election day polle

  • I didn't vote.  It was all local stuff that I wasn't dialed into.

It did make me think though - if a plurality of people showed up and wrote in "none of the above", what would happen?

    This is my siggy.
  • Apparently the laws in my state changed so that you cannot register to vote on election day. I learned that this morning on the way to work, that's how well-publicized it was.

Since I have not registered to vote in my new town, I can't do it today. I could drive over to where I used to live and vote there, fraudulently, I guess.

Question 1 on the ballot is an initiative to repeal the new law against same-day voter registration, lol. Also, there are a few casino-related questions. Maine is always trying to build more casinos. Yes, they'll bring jobs, but most of the people in the proposed casino locations aren't working people who have a little extra money to gamble on weekends.

  • I think there was something going on, but not in my district, so no voting. It's clearly an issue that is really important to me since I can't even remember what it is!

  • I will go at lunch in just a bit, we are having local elections that are important.

It's been tried. I don't think it worked, but he did manage to sink a lot of money into the campaign.

  • I did. The election was for mayor and I dislike ours, so I went to vote for the other guy.

  • Lol, Fuss.

I wish that it was easy enough to organize for write-ins. Sometimes there really isn't a good option and it would be nice to be able to force a do-over.

  • I voted today. There's a referendum to either keep or remove SB5 from the books, some levies, and a couple local referendums that needed to be voted on. I also threw my mark down for some new city council members because the ones we've got now are the suck and can't make a good decision without months of bitching first.
  • Heading out to vote after work - yahoo!

Doglove knows about this: there's a cra-cra school board runoff election that we can finally put to rest tonight. Lots of mud slinging on this one, tea party candidate, staunch liberal, the paper revealed the tea party candidate had declared bankruptcy some years ago and worked as a "waitress" at a New Orleans strip club and she embellished her work history.

    Lots of fun!

Other than that, it's just municipal elections here.

eta: HA! This is lucky, I clearly haven't logged out as my Halloween AE

  • We had some interesting ones that I voted on. In WA you have to buy hard alcohol from state run liquor stores, it isn't sold anywhere else. They are trying to pass a law so alcohol can be sold in regular retail stores. Also someone's trying to pass a new law to require background checks and stuff for people who care for the elderly.
  • I don't think I'm going to vote. I don't know what or who I'd be voting on, and I hate voting blindly. I'm feeling guilty though.
  • Yep, We have 3 state issues (judge, health care reform, bargaining right for teachers) and a school levy.
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • No and yes.

    I voted last week.
