I had TWO babies at the SAME time and I didn't get a DSLR...I did get a double stroller though ;)

And just look at how cute they are in that stroller!  *squeal*

I don't want to be on MSNBC, yo.
  • My jaw is in my lap. I can not believe that she has the audacity to put ALL that on her registry--for her child who likely already has a crib, and, I bet nursery furniture. She registered for clothes up to 3T and shoe size 8!!!!!! Holy greedy!!!! She registered for Emu boots that cost $50--they live in SoCal and who knows if those spendy boots (for a toddler) will even fit during the four chilly weeks that they might be pseudo-appropriate.

My DH missed my LO's delivery. I had, what I consider, major complications. My son was in the NICU (okay, it was only for twelve hours, but still!!), I was really sick. Where's my stuff??? I want my STUFF!!!!!!! I expect, no, I demand that y'all buy cute, full price outfights from BabyGap and coordinating shoes from either Piper Lime or See Kai Run (they must be nice shoes though, puh-lease) in sizes 3T, 4T and 5T.

I am sorry, if I was entered into a contest where the families I was competing against had lost all their belongings in a flood, or were making due with $200/month, I would withdraw. I would be embarrassed to be asking strangers for such generosity when other have greater needs.

    I have a bad taste in my mouth now. . . .

At one point, one of the adult Sunday School classes at my parent's church (where I attended services, as well) approached my mom. They'd heard about my situation (deployed DH, about to have a baby). They were potentially interested in helping me. They wanted to make me their project. ::giggle, giggle, snort:: My mom, fortunately, politely declined on my behalf. Damn, I coulda gotten STUFF!!!!!!

  • I want to know what expenses she incurred. Even on Standard her delivery would be covered.

Also, she was/is a FRO and he is AD so you can not tell me they don't have the money to buy these things.

I was on Standard, our hospital charges (not including the doctors fees) was close to $60k, if I remember correctly. I paid something like $62. That included LO's 12 hours in the NICU and my 48 hours on the L&D floor (before they moved me to Postpartum for 36 hours).

The more I think about her registry. . . I saved so much money by shopping wisely on AAFES.com. I saved at least 40% and received free delivery (which was rather nice since my muscle was in Iraq).

Even without access to AAFES people can save tons of money online. BRU has been having a cyber sale of at least 20% for nearly a month now.

  • She's a FRO?!

Oh my giddy aunt. Talk about being out of touch, just what I'd expect from most FROs I've dealt with. Give KC her job!

If he's also an O, I'm going to be really, really disgusted. He's at least a SNCO from the description, so I'm pretty grossed out.

I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.

Please tell me that isn't a golden oak leaf.

I can confirm that is a gold oak leaf.

    Un-fricken-believable.

That's what I thought. Black rank insignia is generally easy to see on that uniform. I am disgusted at them both.

Her husband was unexpectedly deployed to Afghanistan one month prior to her due date. Her delivery was filled with numerous complications, during which she had no family support over the course of three agonizing days. These complications resulted in a large number of expenses that have prevented her from buying a majority of the baby supplies that she needs.

So, despite the fact that I feel rich now that H is gone (and on far lower base pay), they didn't have any $$ to buy baby supplies.

I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.
  • imageKiller Cupcake:

    I'm seriously disturbed about this.

THESE are the people they're giving FRO jobs to? lol

Yes. These are exactly the people.

It is truly disgusting. She may have had a horrible delivery but it didn't leave them hurting for money so she's lying.

  • Buying an infant car seat and a crib for a baby that is older than 6 month? Wut? Where has this baby been sleeping? In a drawer?
30 Rock Pictures, Images and Photos
  • Remember, she can't afford "the supplies she needs."  Needs.  Needs.  My idea of needs in regard to a baby = Sakakawea, yo.  A decent baby carrier, a bunting if weather calls for it, something to catch the poop.  Anything above and beyond, yeah, even a crib, is a want.  Okay, a car seat if you have a car, but even then, not a travel system.  That's a want.

23 pairs of shoes, multiple toddler beds, and a whole set of matching furniture for a baby with her own room?  Wants.

Buying an infant car seat and a crib for a baby that is older than 6 month? Wut? Where has this baby been sleeping? In a drawer?

Yes, and for that, it deserves a convertible crib AND a toddler bed with removable bed rail (accessory sold separately).

    Twin boys due 7/25/12
  • Oh, and don't get me wrong, I'm down with 'wants'.  Lord knows I have a house full of 'wants' and I'm not living in a teepee, but own up to it that these aren't "supplies she needs."

  • Hey, I had my kid 8 weeks early, she spent 5 weeks in the hospital, and my douche of an xh was in between jobs at the time. I would like my backpay stuff for all the trauma I dealt with when I had her! Big Smile

    I have no words.

Don't forget the double stroller. They need to be prepared for the next baby, too.

That's exactly what it looks like.  Be like the rest of us and keep the registries set to private until ya get a BFP, k?

I wonder if it would be stepping over the line to email the blogger and explain just how "in need" they are and just how much their "medical bills" are costing them.

And I'm shocked nobody has yet.

You wouldnt be the first person to write something on the blog about being upset about playing the "military" card. Scroll down below the names of the finalists and you will see a few spouses commented on Holly's case.

Coming in super late. But not one single person reported you for stalking. Not one single person. Seems funny with all the stink people made about it later. Unless they pm'ed someone directly, which I doubt.

The camera, fridge, and double stroller are no longer on the registry.

But a nearly 500 dollar stroller now is!

this was my first thought when she first came on here.

ZOMG! she took the camera fridge and stroller off? must be completely coincidental
