Poll: Are you an expert on a subject?
Do you consider yourself an expert on a subject? I know how to do a lot of things but I am not really an expert on one particular subject. I guess I am the kind of person who likes to learn new things but gets bored and picks up a new hobby.
Do you consider yourself an expert on computers, cooking, sports, triva, etc?
Re: Poll: Are you an expert on a subject?
I know quite a bit about autism, dealing with difficult behaviours in children, potty training. Fun stuff.
I also love history and know random stuff, but I don't know if I know any one area.

This, the same for horses (and riding them) and music (I have a BM but I don't know half as much as my friends with PHDs).
Can you tell me how to get a big red wine stain out of a white pashmina?
Oh yeah, I rock trivial pursuit. It's my all-time favorite game.
Has it already been cleaned and dried?
I would start with wetting the area with soda water or club soda (the bubbles help open the fibers), and pour salt on it and I mean pile the salt on. The salt should start to turn red.
I'm a bit obsessed with British medieval history so I know a bunch of random bits of facts from that time period. Does being an expert at terrible reality tv count? ;-)
Yeah, I have no skills really.
BFP Apr 2012, EDD Dec 19 2012 * twin h/b at 6wk, 9wk scan * Baby A lost at 12wks, Baby B was my rainbow born at 36wks
As soon as it happened I put a stain remover and water on it. It just came out of the wash and now the stains are kind of blue/purple. It's not dry yet... I guess it's too late for salt eh?
Azure, can we assume this is ruined and you won't use it again as long as there is a stain?
If so, lets have some fun! In order I would try:
Shampoo
Hairspray
white vinegar
carpet cleaner

How about gymnastics? I bet you are a kick ass person to have around while watching gymnastics.

Otherwise, I'm feeling pretty unskilled these days. Though, DH and I went to a briefing yesterday. I know that even without the subject knowledge, I could have done a better job presenting than the lady who did it did. I'm thinking that when I get back into the working world, that will be where I need to focus my attention. I enjoy speaking to groups. My last position before marrying my DH and becoming a nomadic wife was as a family literacy trainer.
I'm an expert on attracting psycho men
Don't know if I'm an expert, but I'm pretty good at drinking wine!
Thanks AMrs for the tips... I'll see what I can do.
MCC, I'll join you in the wine drinking expertise. Definitely one of my favourite hobbies!
I do have some sort of ability to pick out wine that works very well with any sort of food. I astound my H with this ability...and we really enjoy drinking the wine!
This is pretty much me, too. Specifically macros. I went to and advanced Excel Tips and Tricks seminar and asked the teacher about a macro I needed. He told me it was impossible, a week later I had it figured out.
I'm also very confident in knowing when I need to purchase travel to get the best price for myself without using things like kayak or whatever. I have no problem with kayak, I just don't usually need it.
I'd try to vie for expert status here as well. Sadly, no interesting hobbies to report... although my Super Power is remembering birthdays. I totally would have expert status there.
Yeah, I have a PhD in history and I'm not even sure I'm an expert in my dissertation topic (Welsh nationalism in the 20thC). That's entirely up for debate. Though technically that's what a PhD gives you.
I am an expert in feeding Matilda on the go. I can walk and feed her in Ikea, in the supermarket, on a park bench, in soft play. I can even feed her on my lap hands free while holding Willam. So that is my area of expertise. (Sorry PhD advisor!)
Does it make me a nerd if I'm interested in reading them???
I'd say I'm an expert skier.
I'm also pretty darn good at navigating the Spanish bureaucracy.
