Friday....

My Friday is not off to a great start.  Bill lost my car charger somewhere in his little car a couple of weeks ago when we went out of town.  Instead of just putting it in my bag like I asked him to, he just threw it in the trunk and now he can't find it because he his trunk is so full of garbage.  I asked him to find it for me again last night, so he gets up this morning, is gone for about two minutes and brings me this multi charger thing.  I told him I just wanted my charger back and I said, "This is why I don't like you borrowing my cables.  I don't get it back."  He has lost all of his iPhone wall chargers and his iPad charger.  Well, things went downhill from there.  I'm going to College Station tonight with a friend since he told me yesterday he really shouldn't go due to work things this weekend.  I guess it's a good thing so we'll both have some time to cool off but he said something very hurtful to me and I'm not sure one night is going to do it for me.

Re: Friday....

  • Aw Julie, I'm sorry your morning started off rotten. Hopefully Bill will pull his head out and try to make amends somehow before you leave. I always hate leaving things on a bad note like that.

I'm pretty jazzed about today in general. I get to do a little shopping this morning, and then at 11 a.m. we'll have our first Thanksgiving. Jack's school does it every year, and it's a big deal. People come in from all over the state for this free dinner... last year, we even bused in 100 soldiers from Ft. Hood. This year, we could break 1,000 people! It's a really heartwarming community tradition for our tiny little town, and I'm super glad it's here again. :)

Mine either.  Hope your day gets better and you enjoy your weekend.

  • That bug where you can't keep anything in your stomach, including water, is going back around again.  I hope like hell I do not catch it this year.

My wish for a people free week next week is coming true so that makes me very happy.

I believe I am done holiday/birthday/anniversary shopping for DH.  I may do one more thing but I'm not sure yet.

This sounds like fun Chelsea...I miss small town traditions.

  • I am happy I finally got to go back to boot camp last night!  But I was frustrated with my group because they took too long to explain things and figure them out and we didn't even get through all the exercises. It was just a little frustrating!  But hopefully tomorrow morning will be better!

Is anyone doing anything fun this weekend?

  • Husband and I finished our wedding photo books this past Wednesday (posted a link on the thread for "christmas gifts for new family") and we just got notification that they shipped, so we are SOOO excited to see them.

As for fun plans, I think I'm going to the Etsy fair in Dallas tomorrow after a friend's scentsy house party! I'm excited about the Etsy fair bc I bought tons of our wedding stuff from the site, sell stuff there, and buy tons of gifts there, so it's always fun to find new sellers and new stuff.

Are you coming to Jay Day tomorrow?

Also, does anyone else want to come to Boot Camp tomorrow?  It's free for everyone to come try at the Carrollton location.

  • I second what Tiffany said!  You guys should come try it!

  • They gave us flu shots at work yesterday, for free.  Today, my arm hurts.

When I woke up this morning, I thought it was Saturday.

  • I slept like crap last night.  I went to bed fine but I woke up at 3 to potty and couldn't go back to sleep.  I tossed and turned and was super hot.  DH turned on the heater and it was too hot.  I actually went and sat in the bathroom at one point for 30 min because it was cold in there.  I am now feeling like crap too.  My throat hurts, I've got chills, and I'm exhausted.  I'm thinking about working until noon and then going home to nap.

  • I am getting my hair did this weekend and getting a pedicure, I know that.  Going to BFF's church and then out to brunch Sunday--will miss the Cowboy game but oh well.

But if it turns out that I am staying here for Thanksgiving and cooking, then I will probably be shopping tomorrow for a really, really long time.

Julie, I'm sorry, I hope things get better today.  :(

I stayed up really late last night again reading Room but surprisingly, I feel really good again today and had a great workout.

    No.  :(

We have Aggie football tickets.  I don't really want to go.  DH said a few times that he didn't.  Then after I posted on FB and G+ that we were selling, he decided he wanted to go.  Sigh.  Guess we are going.  No bootcamp for me.  I'll be there on Tuesday for sure!

  • Julie - sorry about the start of your day!  I hope things get better, and have fun down in College Station.

I'm going to dinner tonight with my friend (was my MOH in my wedding).  This will probably be the last time I see her before she heads to Japan for 2 years.  I'm really sad I won't be able to see her baby when it's born.

  • Julie, I'm sorry y'all got into it. I hope it gets better soon.

Chelsea, that sounds super fun! Did you get to put up your decorations yet?

    Sarah and Tiffany, what time?

I have to work till 8 this evening and I'll have to come in tomorrow as well. Sunday is Thanksgiving with the in-laws, so I need to find time between now and then to make a cheesecake and cranberry sauce. I also have to finish making the shopping list for next Thursday and figure out who is going to do what. My mom has major arthritis and can only do things while sitting, and my tendonitis has been really flaring up in my hand, so I'll have to have my dad and DH help with chopping, shredding, etc. Last year we were in Hawaii for Thanksgiving, which was amazing, but I'm so excited about spending it with our families this year! I can't wait to watch Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and the parade!

  • I swear it is 60 degrees at my desk - I am shaking.  This is awful.  But, my manager told me I can work from home or leave early this afternoon after lunch, so I'm super excited.  We're leaving in the morning to visit my parents for the week, and I'm so excited to just have time off.  I have some new Kindle books (including the book club book), and I bought some material to start making stockings for DH and I.  At my parents' house, we have hand made felt stockings, with designs made of felt, sequins, and beads (things like Santa with a train set, a little boy with toys, reindeer, that sort of stuff).  I'm making stockings for our house, and brainstorming ideas for our future children so that all the stockings will coordinate.

I want to leave work now-ish.

Weeeeell, I have a hard time getting up for kickboxing at 10 on Saturdays, so I can't say for sure that I'll make it. But I can promise that I will try!

  • I can't get Bill to give me an answer about the boot camp, my kids are complaining about the easiest test that I have ever given, and I wish it was 3 PM right now so that I could leave.  Days like this are just frustrating and I haven't had one of these in such a long time.
  • i'm tired of house hunting....

    that's all i got

  • looks like i'm not alone in thinking today just needs to be over.

i've been in a funk all week, and so have just been lurking on here for the most part.

We'll just be prepping the house for our houseguests - four people staying with us for five days.......I would say that I'm excited, but one person in particular is not a good guest. As in, he's lazy, dirty, has no problem letting us pay for everything. It just gets exhausting.

The one good thing - DH made a really cute little sign for my office. He burned "Kate's Kraft Korner" on it with a stencil and added a little painting. Totally cheesy, but it was very sweet of him.

  • I am having a pretty good day actually. I feel better than I have all week and it's Friday.

I have to find a good cranberry sauce recipe, shop for ingredients and pack for next week at the ILs this weekend. Speaking of the ILs -  they decided last night they would not like Titan to come to their house for Thanksgiving since they are now going to have so many more people for dinner than they originally thought. I called every boarding place from NW Fort Worth to Rockwall and no one has room. We seem to have some sort of plan involving my sister and a friend but geez, could they have let us know this maybe slightly earlier?

I am testing a gluten free marble cake recipe this weekend. I am curious to see how it will turn out.

I am so sorry you have to deal with this.  We had to board Brutus last year and I hated it.

  • I'm kind of in a funk today, too. Nothing in particular is bad, I'm just ready for the work week to be over. I'm feeling for you guys.

Thanks. Titan gets sick for a few days after each time we board him. I assume it's just from being somewhere besides home and being away from his normal eating schedule/people. My sister is coming to stay with him and he knows her, so he should be fine. It's just annoying to get such last minute notice.

On an unrelated note, tons of girls in my class this morning were gushing about the Twilight movie. Another girl was talking about how poorly crafted the books are and mentioned this blog. If you are a grammar or book nerd you will appreciate it, even if you love Twilight.

I'm sure you've already called, but this place is right around the corner from us, and has great reviews.  campbowwow haha. i love the name of it!

ILs are :/  for us right now too.  since they decided to go on a ski trip (and tell everyone it was work related) we made other plans for thanksgiving day, after not hearing from FILs parents. (volunteering that AM and then going to my parents that afternoon).  two weeks pass.  now tILs had a change of plans and will be going to his parents. and we get an email last night letting us know "we can come if we want" from FILs mother.

hopefully,  fingers crossed, our response was 'respectful' enough to not cause any more rifts than what we already deal with.

You might try Rawhide Resort. My coworker just called two days ago to board her dog for Thanksgiving and the guy told her they had plenty of room. It's in NW Fort Worth.

They have space and they have giant rooms and a giant play yard. This place was meant for Titan. I told the guy who answered the phone that they need to work on their Google placement. I called literally 33 places last night and they never popped up.

  • Leslie,

I don't know where you live, but we've used Park Cities Pet Sitters before -- they come to your house as often as you want (fees are different for the number of visits a day) to feed and water and play with or walk your dog.  BIL and SIL use them all the time and they're great.  You'll have the same sitter the whole time and they text you updates.
