Twilight - Breaking Dawn Part I *Spoilers*

Re: Twilight - Breaking Dawn Part I *Spoilers*

  • Just saw the movie today and loved the movie.  I laughed at a lot of it but I went to get entertained.  I wasn't expecting Oscar-worthy performances.  It's been years since I read the books but the movie did a good job IMO.  Besides, all of the boring waiting details in the book almost made me chuck the thing out of a window.  Glad the movie didn't drag it on like the book.  The imprinting thing creeped me out in the book.  Wasn't Edward supposed to act a little more pissed that Jacob imprinted on his daughter though?  Also, I am mad I missed the last scene.  We hightailed it out of the theater at the beginning of the credits.

  • for what it is - a twilight saga movie - I thought it was excellent and best of the bunch so far.

was it free of cheese? of course not. is the bella/edward relationship dynamic still weird? yes but honestly it was a little better this time.

overall, if you are a twilight fan, I think you will definitely enjoy it.

  • I loved it!! I think they dealt with the "imprinting" very well-  I think it was shown In a sweet way and not a creepy way. I also think the wolves talking was not as cheesy as I thought it would be.

I loved the music- I loved how they took the music from the first movie and it went so well in the scenes. I think the Bella edward chemistry was really strong - you could tell they liked filming those scenes! It was great cant wait until part 2!!

The acting has certainly improved since Twilight. My problem is that I'm not a fan of Breaking Dawn (the book) anyway - I frankly thought it was a little too weird(the book), and went way off course compared to the other three books.

AGREED!!! Except I loooooooved the movie!!! I stopped reading after he turned her so I need to catch up on the end before the I see the second part of BD.

I'm quoting you too b/c I completely agree with you on the imprinting and the music! Super excited for part 2!!! Ditto on Bella/Edward chemistry!

To be honest, I was disappointed.

It was painfully rushed and choppy. Bella's wedding dress was FUG. Making out scene at the wedding was awkward. Emmett had a weird Justin Timberlake-ish jewfro. A lot of the other characters were having hair problems too. Weird wolf-talking scenes. The CGI baby kinda creeped me out.

I did enjoy the speeches during the reception. Loved Seth- he was too darn cute. They did a really good job making Bella look painfully skinny.

Probably my least favorite out of them all.

All of this.  The speeches were hillarious.  the scene with Jacob telling her not to have sex with Edward b/c he'd kill her .... holy awkward!  I'm glad they toned down a lot of the Bella teen speak in comparison to the book.  I'm glad they toned down the ick factor on the imprinting too.  Definitely made it be more about friends/protectors than love, although Renesme did seem to be courting Jacob in the "dream" sequences when she's older. ick!

But, some scenes were just so ridiculous that I laughed (e.g. the wolves speaking to each other).  I'd say this one was our least favorite, but I think the next one will be better b/c of the fighting.

  • I finally saw it.

I can't decide if I'm relieved or disappointed that they cut out the part when Edward proposes the "sperm donor" idea to Jacob, and then Jacob to Bella. That could have been very funny or not.. maybe they couldn't figure out how to make that less than totally awful.

Other than that, I was very satisfied by the movie!

I was hoping for some EC ass-action during the sex scene. Oh, what I would give to see the original, R-rated version of that.
