Hey Nesties,
Who's here today?
Just to get conversation going. Where would you like to travel too?
I think I want to do some places locally first. I still have yet to go to Vegas and I want to go ski in Colorado.
Re: OL Tuesday
Deepthi,
It's actually Tuesday! I got excited when I saw Wednesday and thought I had the day wrong! :-)
Also, I would love to go to Australia and Europe (there are a lot of places I want to go in Europe). I also want to visit Vegas and New York.

I want to travel anywhere and everywhere. I love to explore.
Also, I have a bit of a rant. I have to roll my eyes a bit everytime people "boycott" a store because it doesn't use the word "Christmas" in its advertising. I just don't get the argument because a) Christmas is not supposed to be about shopping and b) is it so horrible to respect those who don't celebrate?
I wish people I come into contact with a Merry Christmas. I'm not saying we all have to be perfectly PC, but c'mon. Boycotting a store? Get over it.
ETA: This rant was spurred by someone posting a petition against Walgreens for this. A PETITION, really?
I have lots of places I want to travel both domestic and international. I wish Matts taste were a little more adventerous as he has no desire to go to Europe and that makes me really sad.
I agree with you Tiffany on the holiday thing that it shouldnt even matter because thats not even what it should be about.
The way I feel about the whole stores and Christmas thing is probably unpopular but it is this: stores are selling to the masses and the masses are not all Christian nor do they all celebrate Christmas.
What a person wants to do on a person level (i.e. wish people Merry Christmas) is their choice. What a store does to not alienate a large segment of their customer base is their choice.
I mean seriously, what would those who identify as Christmas celebrators think if instead of Happy Holidays stores made it Happy Hanukkah? Just because it is your belief doesn't mean it is everyones. Happy Holidays to me is a nice compromise.
Don't even get me started on the double standard of things like this...
Anyway, soapboxes aside - today is my last day of work this week and last night was my last class for the week. Breaking Dawn tonight...party, party party!
It sure feels like a Wednesday, Deepthi! DH and I have a goal to visit all 50 states and other places that stand out for me are Italy and Ireland but I would be up for traveling most anywhere.
Dear crazy people-
You seriously need to be admitted. The death of 4 people is not God's punishment to the state of Oklahoma because your tires were slashed while visiting McAlister for a protest. Family and friends will be mourning and the last thing they need or want to see is your ugly mug protesting the memorial service.
Dear chair-
Please behave today. I cannot tolerate sitting on the floor again.
Dear people on the phone-
When I ask you follow up questions, there is no need to get an attitude with me or tell me to "Just forget about it" and hang up. I'm trying to help you find the right person to talk to, not just waste your time. Next time I'll just transfer you all over the place.
I'm here. We close on our house this afternoon. I'm so antsy here at work!
H and I had planned to go to Paris & London for our one-year anniversary. (Well, H had planned -- I thought it might be a little soon for another Europe trip since we went to Italy for our honeymoon and the flights are $$$.)
Now that we bought the house and had to pay over 1k for just our flights to see my parents at Christmas ... our vacation fund is pretty much $0.
This is so, so exciting!!! Are you able to move in ASAP?
I will never turn down a vacation. I definitely want to be able to say I've been to all 50 states, and I'd love to go back to Europe... Ireland, especially.
Dear Nesties,
I'm a little sad this morning. Mack and I had a long talk last night about adopting in the future, which is something we've always said was "an option". He admitted that he really doesn't see himself wanting to pursue it, because we can't afford to start for another couple years, and he doesn't want three kids all so far apart. He also (and this is pretty sweet) said that while he loves our kids, he's looking forward to living with JUST me someday when they go off to college, because we've never ever lived by ourselves. Adding another baby to the mix would just delay that. So it's not off the table, but the new points he made are all valid, and cerebrally I know that it's not likely to happen. But that doesn't make it any easier for my heart to think about...
Sad Chelsea
Were you only considering a newborn? What about an older child?
His reasoning is cute and understandable. My CW will be 65 when her last kid graduates HS and while she does love her kids, she is anxious for them to be out of her house. Her oldest is 33 (out of the house) and her youngest is 5th/6th grade; 4 are her bio kids, 3 are adopted and 1 is a foster child who is out of the house but they are still close.
I am sorry you are upset. It's crazy how expensive adoption really is but that was very sweet of Mack to say that.
Dear Dentist,
Please don't be surprised when you take my blood pressure and it's sky high. Coming to your office gives me anxiety and it doesn't help when you point out how high my blood pressure is. Why do you even need to take my blood pressure anyway?
Signed,
Anxious patient
Thanksgiving -
Please hurry. Seriously. I am having the hardest time focusing.

I don't think it's flame worthy. You know what would/wouldn't work for your family. I was adopted right before my 1st birthday; that worked for my family. Kids of all ages need a good home, you know?!
Please elaborate.
Chelsea,
I undrstand how you feel. DH and I always hope to be able to adopt one day as well. I would feel terrible to think about it being off the table. I understand it's the best decision for you guys right now and hope it all works out!

Brianna - What was that website you used for the deals?
Dear Nesties,
I am exhausted and grumpy today. My aunt came to visit last night, so I was crampy and didn't sleep at all. Today I'm just bummed that it means no baby.
Oh well, maybe we will have a pleasant surprise at Christmas!
-Tired me
Chelsea,
I know you were very excited about adopting a baby in the future. I'm sorry it doesn't seem to be working out now. But your heart is in the right place, and I'm sure the Lord will lead you down a path that it right for your family and any children you are meant to help.

We take it so we know if you will stroke out on us. Now calm down! Plus blood pressure is becoming more and more of a problem for people.

Deepthi,
Alright, I can see why now. My blood pressure is fine at any other doctor's office, just not the dentist.
Our seller will vacate by Friday morning. My parents flew in (they live out of state) and on Friday and Saturday, we'll be stripping down wallpaper in the house and buying a new fridge, washer & dryer, stove, and living room set.
(Thanks to whoever posted that stove yesterday ... I think I'm going to get that exact one, in white!)
Next week I'll be at the new house a few days, overseeing a few small renovations. If I can get anyone to come give me a bid on tiling my kitchen floor! I've had the worst luck with trying to schedule this ahead of time. They all want to come out that very day, or not at all. Maybe they can tell we don't have much $$$ to spend...
We'll move in whenever the kitchen floor is done or when I'm fully packed ... whichever happens sooner. I'm probably about 50% packed at our house already.
My problem with traveling is that I want to go EVERYWHERE. Seriously. Everytime I watch House Hunters International, I have new places added onto the list.
Our next two vacation spots will probably be Ireland and France. Hoping for one of them next year - if I don't get KU before then.....
Brianna - thank you for sharing the Black Friday site. I've never done BF shopping and had NO CLUE where to look for the deals.
Our first Thanksgiving guest arrives tonight, so let the holidays begin!!!
RE Oklahoma and the crazy people:
There was a plane crash last week with 2 coaches from OSU aboard as well as a husband & wife pilot team who are ambassadors of some sort for the university. There are groups that protest military funerals and a bunch of other things and a similar group is attempting to protest the memorial services.
A man that owns several of the radio stations in OK offered them 5 minutes of air time yesterday when the memorial service would be taking place in exchange for them not protesting. Today is the memorial service for the husband and wife and this group said they will be protesting it. What they are protesting, who knows?
Their tires were slashed while protesting in McAlester, OK awhile back and this group claims that these 4 deaths are God's way of punishing the people of OK for what happened to their tires.
Michele - Sorry to hear this. I can honestly say that even after all this time, I think the first arrival of AF during TTC was the worst of all. - Leslie
Marie - So exciting! Have fun this weekend!
ETA: Speaking of TTC - you girls I have seen peeking out over on GP - you know who you are...come check in today. I do the check in every week (usually on Thurs.) - it's a good way for people to GTKY over there.
Some people need to remember to take their crazy pills and leave poor grieving people alone!

The same site that Brianna posted also put out a free app for the IPhone. I have it and love it. Makes it super easy to search for what I'm looking for.
I'm thinking about trying to get a good deal on a vaccuum. We don't have one, because the house we've been in is 100% hard floors, and the new house is all carpeted (until we can afford to put down tile and hardwoods everywhere, which will be a while.) My dream is the Roomba, but nobody has that one on sale that I've seen.
That was me with the stove, and your welcome.
We just had our tile done by a contracter and he and his partner were awesome and really easy to work with. His name is Jaime and he is with Ram Tile (www.ramtile.com). You can call/text/email him and he is really good about getting back to you quickly.
I'm with Tiffany and mnkate--I want to go anywhere and everywhere. I want to go back to Vegas in April for my birthday, I want to go back to Maui for our 5-year anniversary, I want to go back to Sedona, I want to go to that big fancy spa in Austin with my sister, I want to go to Hot Springs, I want to go to San Francisco, I want to go to Fiji and the Bahamas. We thought about taking Mel to Europe after graduation but she wants to go to Comic Con in San Diego (her dad is supposedly making this happen) so that probably means we won't go. Which is fine with me really because we have really spent alot this year and probably need to stop for awhile. All I want to do is go on vacation, all the time.
Those protesters make me sick--I can't even stand to hear about them.
Dear work, I hope you are busier today or I am seriously going to fall asleep.
Dear Chelsea, awwww, I'm sorry, but maybe you don't have to give up the dream, it's just on hold for now.
With All the Trimmings
Just do it!
