bust when you see its the same person every time you post something it gets really old, and make you wonder what kind of life they have when they just sit on boards trying to make other people feel bad.  GET OVER YOURSELF!

Perhaps you should find a new place to vent.

  • My father had run out to his car to get a new battery for his camera when the DJ announced the father-daughter dance at my reception, leaving me standing in the middle of the dance floor by myself. We laughed about it, my father was beyond embarrassed when he got back in, and we did the dance then.

Everyone has already said what I think - accept who your father is and stop expecting him to be more, and stop dwelling over these petty things that happened at your wedding and focus on living your life. Good God, it was 6 months ago.

  • I think a lot of good advice has been given here. Like the PPs have suggested, you need to deal with the underlying issues with you father.

With all due respect, my mom makes your dad look like father of the year. I can only imagine how she would have behaved if she had been invited to my wedding - which she wasn't b/c I cut her out of my life a few years ago.

I know the kind of person she is and I learned to stop expecting her to be different. She's broken, abusive and limited.  I'm not and I choose to be different. You can choose how to handle your dad instead of letting it control you this way.

By the way - the day of our wedding, my husband saw me for the first time and said " um, you look nice".  I teased him about it because he says more romantic things than that to me on a normal day and he later told me that he wanted to say more but he was very nervous in front of all the people.  Maybe your dad felt the same.

Also the worse part was having them announce to everyone that we were doing the FOB and Bride dance and he was no where to be found. It felt as though i was left at the alter by my father. It was the worst feeling ever, unless you were put in the situation then you shouldn't say I'm overreacting.

Um, I was in this situation.  My dad was outside helping the caterer load something (really dad?  That is what I paid them for, so they would do it!).  He is a great guy and was just trying to help them. Honestly it was NOT that big of a deal to me.  My mom saw what was happening and jumped up to dance with me.  My dad came running in all sweaty, without his tux jacket on & finished the dance.  Wonderful memories!
