SA Wednesday

Re: SA Wednesday

Because it's about that time... what's for lunch?  I'm at home, so I'm trying to decide what sounds good to make, and keep myself from going out to Whataburger (my weakness).

I just had my Monday, Wednesday, Friday lunch: 8 Chick-Fil-A nuggets with a side salad, berry-balsamic viniagrette and an unsweet tea. With one ketchup, it is 420 calories.

I go to the same CFA every MWF so they now know me there, the manager calls my meal the $6.61 special, haha. Today the cashier asked me if I ever get tired of eating the same thing. It kind of stumped me because you would think that I would. I just laughed and said not really but I was thinking about it and I have noticed since cutting calories back in Feb. that meals stopped being about really enjoying the food and just about fueling my body. I don't know if I should be happy or sad about this really...

  • I'm at the vet with chunk, and I'm starting to hate this place. The last time I was here was when duke died. Chunks been having shaking episodes and he hasn't been eating lately. They think it might be petit seizures but I have to wait for his blood tests to come back. Hopefully they'll have some answers tomorrow. I really don't want chunk to be sick, he's my buddy. :(

  • Aw, Angela, I am so sorry.  I hope that you get answers soon, and that Chunk will be okay!

Thank you bank for detecting fraud and putting a stop to it without me knowing.  Not so cool that you blocked my card over 5 days ago and never bothered to tell me so I didn't figure it out until I went to use it today.

Bank of America?  Same thing happened to my CW.  That's ridiculous.  A courtesy call is the least they can do.

It was Chase.  That's what I thought, at least give me a heads up so I don't look stupid trying to use it.

DH hasn't been able to use one of his the last few days so I will have to check what he has.

  • Lauren, that is weird they did that they always text me or call me before shutting it off.

I am having chili for lunch, I dont know why but I never get tired of it.

Leslie, when I am watching calories thats pretty much how I am.  I eat the same 2 or 3 things for breakfast, I have a side salad with dinner, and the same snacks everyday.

  • I haven't been around today... working and dealing with a sick Dottie. But I had to chime in on the "not getting excited about food" note:

This is where I feel like Mack and I get stuck. We just don't want to live like that. We're true foodies, and LOVE exploring and cooking and find so much camaraderie and comfort in food. Whenever we seriously buckle down, we eat the same stuff all the time and we get SO bored and pretty depressed about it. Since we started boot camp in September, we decided that we'd rather focus on fresh/localganic whenever possible and eat food we love... and just work a little harder at Boot Camp to see results. :)

Along that same line... my big "Supermodel Experience" boudoir shoot in San Diego is one week from today, and I am "gonna throw up" nervous about it already.

  • Thanks everyone for your responses on the house cleaning question!
  • Angela sorry about Chunk, we just adopted a new pug named Chunk a few weeks back and he currently has some sort of bladder infection. Sick pups are the worst.

  • Btweety, I just love your siggy pic.
  • Angela - I hope Chunk is going to be ok!

Bobbieleigh - That's what I would hope they would do, especially since my number has been the same since I was in high school.

    Lacey,

    How is Pottermore going?

Is that the name of the book you loaned me?  I finished it three months ago.  I was going to bring it to book club back when you were going, but I had to miss it for a funeral.  Do you want me to mail it to you?  It was a really good book and it was very interesting to see if their predictions were accurate.  You should read it again, now that you've read all the books.

I thought that was the name of her new Harry Potter Experience website....?

  • Regarding eating the same food:

I kind of feel like when you need to lose a large amount of weight you don't have the luxury of eating what you love. It will always be calories in, calories out. Sadly that means one dish with cream sauce cancels out an entire morning workout. Since I don't really do processed food or artifical sweeteners, "low fat", "reduced fat", etc., it is far easier for me to eat the same two things for lunch every week and alternate five-ten dinners/breakfasts to simply fuel my body.

I have had to really examine my relationship with food in order to get where I am today. Coming from a family that showed love with food and considered gravy a beverage, I had an unhealthy relationship with food and now know that.

There will come a time for me to enjoy food again, it's just not right now.

That was me. I got frustrated with it and never got into it. It took so long to get my credentials to get in and then the servers were always busy, so I never really did much with it. I guess after the 25th attempt at logging in, my love of my personal time outweighed my love of HP.

These kids are melting my brain.  Twelve more days until the next break.  I told my husband that I may need to take a day here in the next week or so for mental health and he just acted like I had thrown his computer into a lake.

Well, Leslie, I guess I don't have to be jealous any more of all my friends who got on it.

  • Thanks everyone for your well wishes! They said physically he looks fine, so I just have to wait for the blood results.
Chelsea, I totally agree with everything you said. And I love how you're feeling the same as your "girls on film" girls!

  • I recently wrote a large research paper for a class arguing that infertility should be considered a disability. I have to give a 25 minute presentation tomorrow and defend my argument against my professor and class. Tomorrow also heralds the arrival of my dear monthly friend. What perfect timing, huh?

Oh and something I wanted to ask you girls your opinion on...

This afternoon I heard on the radio a discussion of this past Black Friday/Cyber Monday being the biggest/spendiest ever. They posed an interesting question: Do you think the economy has truly rebounded or do you think people are just spending beyond their means?

  • Wow a lot to catch up on.

Danielle - Glad to hear it turn out ok!

Stephanie - you will be like that for a while. I know I still get nervous at certain places when I drive after my accident.

Jaymi - Glad to hear it was just a cyst. Those things hurt so badly, but at least it wasn't anything major.

I'm so glad the has been day two of no knee pain. I hope I don't jinx myself saying this. I'm just so glad to walk around. I'm not pushing my luck until I see my doctor on Monday.

I think they are spending beyond their means, which is nothing new.  I've never understood people who have no money yet have extravagant holidays....they put it all on a credit card and pay it off through the next year only to repeat it the next year.  My thinking is that if you don't have it, you don't have it.  I don't see the point in going into debt because of Christmas (or a wedding).  I also don't have kids so I don't feel the pressure to have THE perfect Christmas or having to top last year's presents.

Spending beyond their means to get a "deal" or to live up to the expectations of the past.

Economy has definitely not rebounded.  I think the only thing that really drives Black Friday is the perception of the "deals" as getting "more for less".

In this economy, I think everyone (regardless of income level) values this perception more than normal...making the day bigger than ever.

  • I heard on the radio that even with unemployment so high, the debt level as a percentage of income is lower than it's been in years, so that implies that people are being smarter with their money.  While there are always those who spend beyond their means, I think that a lot of people just waited to spend their money until there were amazing deals, like on BF.

On a related note, I feel like there are so many sales, even still.  I went to Michael's yesterday, and had I paid full price, I would have spent about $60.  Instead, I walked out spending just $25.  I am getting to where I expect these big discounts, and I don't want to spend if I can't find at least some kind of sale.  Anybody else feel this way?

    Yes Yep.

  • Angie - Yes!  There are many places where I won't buy anything unless it is 50% off plus I have some sort of coupon.   The retail price of everything seems to have skyrocketed, and I have to get a significant discount just to pay a reasonable price for things these days.

I'm also really agitated with some of my favorite stores from the past...NY&Co., The Limited, Express, etc.   The price of their stuff is at least twice what it should be, and they give ridiculous coupons.   Why not just have the stuff priced normally, and pass out 10 or 20% off coupons to get shoppers in the door?   I just roll my eyes every time I get a take $70 off of $140 coupon, or something to that effect.
